Scroll Works Gift Boxes

A quick and easy gift box today! Decorated with the lovely Joy Holly stamp from the Scrolls Work Merry Christmas Range.

All you need is a some patterned paper, your stamps and inks and any extras you want to add extra touches to the box.

The stamp measures just under 2.5 by 4 inches so the box measurements are designed to match the stamp size.

I've cut out two rectangles from the patterned paper, one for the lid (6 1/8 by 4 5/8 inches) and one for the box itself (8 by 6 7/16).

Score a one inch border on each side of the lid paper and a two inch border on each side of the box paper. Score a diagonal line in each corner of the border on both pieces of papers.

Fold each score line and smooth out with a bone folder, or ruler, so that the pattern is on the outside. The corners should fold inwards and can be stuck to the walls with double-sided tape.

I used distress inks to decorate and add a vintage feel to my box.

For the stamp I stamped it with sepia Archival ink, cut it out and then added colour to the Holly and berries with the distress inks.

I stamped the image again in red and cut out the diamond-shaped sentiment then stuck it to the image.

I added glitter highlights to the image.

Then covered the diamond sentiment with Glossy Accents.

There you have it a super quick gift box for that last minute wrapping!

Hope you get all your wrapping done.

Favourite Reads For Blog-A-Holics

I have a confession, I'll whisper this to you but please don't tell anyone...I'm a blog-a-holic!

What? You are one too?
Oh I am so relieved!
I thought it was just me.

With 1255 blogs in my Google Reader, 'Following' or RSS-ing, and blogs followed via Network Blogs in Facebook. Well you can guess that I have a problem!

But a problem shared is a problem halved!

So I thought I would share my problem with you by sharing some of my favourite blog reads from time to time for you to add to your ever growing reading list if you haven't got them already!

The first in my series of Blog-A-Holic Reads is the gorgeous blog from Sue at Hello Gorgeous

You might remember that I mentioned Hello Gorgeous a little while back when Sue did a fun little interview with me for her blog.

Sue is a jewellery designer and she posts on her blog a 'Thanks Folksy It's Friday' series with Folksy makes that inspire her and links to the Folksy shops and on Tuesday she has a series called 'Twenty Question Tuesday' where she interviews artists, bloggers, crafters etc. Both are fun features and well worth watching out for.

Enjoy!

Christmas Wishes To You All

Some of you might have noticed a couple of mentions on my blog over the last couple of weeks for the ZIG pens from Kuretake? Just the odd hint here and there? I've been really lucky to have been able to give these pens a really good crafty workout and I'm hoping to share my thoughts and more projects with you in the very near future...

In the meantime here is a quick peak at my Christmas make for the Kuretake Countdown To Christmas, there is a new project everyday with lots of fun ideas like fabulous Christmas decorations and I love the decorated bag on 13 Days To Go!

You will find little old me on the 12 Days To Go page and if you go take a look you can see a quick step by step for this project.

I've used the ZIG Calligraphy pens to colour the holly, ZIG Calligraphy Metallic pen for the sentiment; ZIG Millennium Pen for doodling the holly and berries, ZIG Writer pens to colour the berries and the ZIG embossing pens to add the snow effect.

So you can see how versatile these pens are but more on this later, right now I thought I would just tease you with a look-see!

Christmas Wishes to you all!

Metallic And Bright

The last run of Christmas makes and I'm still desperately playing catch up! Note to self - start earlier next year. I'm sure I say that every year and I never do! Hands up all of you how do the same?

I've used the Unity Itty Bitty Merry and Bright stamp with sentiment, available over at Make The Day Special. I think I can safely say that this has been one of my top favourite stamps for this season.

I've used the metallic Perfect Pearls to add that gorgeous shine.

Ooo I'm so easily distracted by shiny things.

Have a shiny day.

Let It Snow

Guess what? I'm still racing to finish the Christmas makes LOL! Haven't bought any presents, haven't sent any cards and we have only just put up our little Christmas tree. But I have watched lots of Christmas movies like Elf, Fred Claus (which was a bit dire I thought) and Blizzard so am trying to get in the spirit.

Need the mince pies and mulled wine, that would help me to get my Christmas preparations done!

Used the lovely CC Designs Snowflake Stamp kit available over at Quixotic Paperie and it is reduced at the moment as well! I love the snowflakes in this kit.

Right off to do more Christmas Makes.
Hope you are getting yours finished!

So these fit perfectly as they use one of the lovely stamps from the Paper Make Up Stamps Nature's song set. I've used the ZIG Calligraphy pens and  ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens to add colour to the stamping.

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday.

Believing In Angels

Another Celestially inspired make for The Altered Element Blog and this one use the theme of angels as it's celestial muse! The item uses a little alterable square pendent which has been treated with Golden Molding paste to build the texture then painted with Acrylic Paints and light dusting with Gesso.

The image is a rub-on from my stash and covered it with Ranger Crackle accents. The finishing touches some from the flowers (also from my stash) and the little sentiment is a cute little Vintaj Sentiment charm.

There are still some bargains to be had at The Altered Element Closing Down sale!

Catch you all later.

Itty Bitty Christmas Decoration

A Christmas Decorations for you today and I've been playing with my melt pot and paints to make this little fellow. It makes a lovely vintage tree decoration I thought?

I've used the Unity Itty Bitty Joy stamp which you can get over at Make The Day Special. The Itty Bitty stamps aren't small as the name suggests this one is just under ATC size (2.5 inch by 3.5 inch)

I would love to see your Christmas Decorations! Let me know if you have any on your blog and I will pop by to take a look.

Multicoloured Embossing Tips

Yep, I've another Christmas card today and these are some cards I made for a commission using the lovely Scrolls Work Poinsettia Stamp that I showed you on Sunday in Kraft and Bronze

Well for today I've gone real old School Christmas with traditional Christmas colours and some heat embossing but to mix it up just a little bit I've used a multiple colour embossing technique that I thought I would share with you.

For this technique you will need:

Embossing powders, I've used bronze, gold and green.
Versamark
Coloured Card
A spare piece of paper for each embossing powder colour (folded on half and open up again)

STEP ONE
Stamp out the image in Versamark onto the coloured card and place on the first spare piece of paper. Pick the first embossing powder colour (I used the bronze) and pour onto small areas of the image. I started by pouring little piles of powder over the corners of the image and very little splashes in the centre of the image.

As quick as you can turn the coloured card over to pour the excess powder onto your spare piece of paper and give the card a few good taps to get all the excess off. As you can see not all the areas have been covered by the powder which is just the effect you want at this stage. You can pour your excess powder back into the jar for later use, the fold in the paper should help!

STEP TWO
Repeat STEP ONE for the other powder colours, using one colour at a time with a new piece of paper with a pouring fold in it. I used my gold colour second and finally my green, but play around to get the look you want. Each time you use a new powder try to cover the areas you missed with the previous powder.

Remember to use the spare paper for each powder you pour and don't mix them up if you want to pour the excess back into the jar.

By the end you will have the whole image covered waiting for the magic to happen!

STEP THREE
Heat emboss and watch your embossing colours shine through!

Enjoy and I would love to see your embossing makes so drop me a comment so that I can have a nose!

Some Christmas Heart And Doodles

Hi Guys, I have a Christmas card today, I know - Shock! This one uses the lovely Unity Wishes and Kisses stamp kit which you can get from Make The Day Special. Both the heart and the sentiment are from this kit and I thought that I could give them a bit of a Christmas spin as I think the kit is more for Valentines!

I doodled some holly leaves using a ZIG Millennium pen then coloured them with ZIG Calligraphy pens. The snow was added to the bottom of the card using a ZIG Embossing pens and some white embossing powder.

Simple and Christmassy :)

We have some new design team members over at Make The Day Special, so if you have a moment pop on over to the blog and check them out!

Materials:
Stamps - Unity Wishes and Kisses
Ink - Archival Coffee and Black
Other - ZIG Embossing pens; ZIG Calligraphy pens; ZIG Millennium pen; Embossing powder

La-La Land Craft Monday

Hello my beautiful blog readers, Monday has arrived again and we are counting down those shopping days to Christmas.

It will be be a busy week on Crafty Makes, for once I seem to have more makes than days of the week, I might even have to start posting a couple of times a day - I don't know what is wrong with me! I've gone make crazy!

I have a few Christmas Cards to show you this week, but I have some other non-Christmassy things to show you as well, just in case you are getting tired of Christmas already (well some people have been making their cards since July - clever folks!)

To kick off the week I have my La-La Land Crafts DT make to show you. I've used the lovely Caroling Luka  which you can either by as a rubber stamp or you can buy as a digi-stamp - how cool is that?

Before I go don't forget the Cute Card Thursday challenge this week which is 'The Blues', the DT have made some beautiful inspiring cards and the sponsors are The Beary Scrap. Well worth a look-see!

Thanks for popping in on your rounds and I hope you are progressing well with all those Christmas preparations.

Catch you tomorrow.

Bronze Embossed Christmas

Got my first gDT card for Scrolls Work for you all today. I've used the lovely Poinsettia Block stamp from the Scrolls Work Christmas Merry range of stamps. I love poinsettias :)

The sentiment is also available at Scrolls Work and you can find it in the Scrolls Work Snowy Christmas range. The stamps work gorgeously with embossing powders like the bronze powder I have used here. I was curious to see how the bronze would work with the kraft, a sort of old school meets new school! What do you think?

Hope you are having a good weekend, thanks for dropping by.

I downloaded the free image from Vintage Printable and used Golden Gel Medium to attach it to the box that I had already painted with Eco Green Craft paints. The final touch was to add a bit of sparkle using Glass Glitter.

Thanks for popping by.
