Cute Card Thursday - Nothing Square Here

Hello my lovelies! It is Thursday so it is Cute Card Thursday Challenge day and this week we have a fab one for you:

Anything But Square!

I've gone so not square that I've gone Stellar for you! Tee Hee! Yep, I've used my star nesties (which were a pressie from my wonderful OH) for this card, it does mean that the card is tiny, more of a miniature notelet really.

I've used my favourite monster from My Cute Stamps, which you can get from Make The Day Special with a little wobbly eye to finish the wee thing off.

I know, I know! You have seen this little Monster before here but I just love him so!

Have fun with your non-square makes.
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 29

Quixotic Paperie Challenge day and this week we have a fabulous challenge from Rowena:

Fold it!

A project with more than one fold so I have a little decorated heart shaped box to show you. The box is a blank available from Quixotic Paperie and I've painted it with acrylic paint then decoupaged it with the lovely Kioshi Basic Grey paper. I've lightly distressed it with distress inks and then sealed it with a gloss varnish.

I finished the box with one of the yummy, sparkly Prima flower centres.

Can't wait to see your folded makes.
Kim

Materials:
Other - Heart shaped craft box; Prima flower centre; Acrylic paints; Gloss varnish; Tim Holtz Ranger Distress inks

I've Been Gingersnapped Again!

The lovely DT over at Gingersnap Creations have picked my entry for the GC54-Pencils challenge for the Ginger Gem selection. Thank you so much guys, you have just made my day!

Grace On Film

Hey guys, I have a mixed media canvas to show you today, I've called it 'Grace On Film'!

I was lucky enough to win some gorgeous Darkroom Door stamps as blog candy from Rachel Greig's Darkroom Door blog and just thought they would be perfect for this project. I love mixing fabric, paper, embroidery and rubber stamping and the different textures and effects it gives to a piece.

There are a lot of details, that I'm not sure I've managed to pick up in the photographs - still trying to get to know my new camera.

The fabrics have been hand coloured and stitched with beading detail. The Darkroom Door image has been hand tinted and I've also added crackle details to the sentiments and yummy buttons to my fabric roses.

Thanks for popping by.

Alota Julia Bug Does The Baking

I recently got a super-nice surprise, it was an email from Helene, the owner of Alota Rubber Stamps, asking if I would make a card for her. She had been sent a picture of a card I made for the Quixotic Paperie Challenge by Elaine. The card used the fabulous Alota Rubber Stamp Stove (which was one of those stamps I just knew I had to have as soon as I saw it!) stamped onto metal.

Well Helene has got the card now so I can show it to you all. It has the gorgeous Julia Bug baking on her shiny metal stove.

I've stamped onto metal then manipulated the metal to add dimension, the other items are pieced on in paper or metal.

The lovely Julia is coloured with PrismaColor pencils and paper pieced.

There is more yummy baking on the inside as well - Julia has been busy!

Wasn't that the nicest of surprises? Thank you so much both Elaine and Helene!

Alota have their own challenge blog which I hope to have a play along with when I can and also you can catch them on Papercraft Planet - in case you haven't caught up with them there already.

So how you all set up for the week? I've got lots of card making and stitching to do this week, hopefully I can get some blog hopping in as well to see all your gorgeous makes.

Catch you later
Kim

Butterfly Wings

Hi Guys, I have another digital art piece for you today and this one is inspired by the challenge over at Art Creation Friday where you get a different picture inspiration each week to make anything you like with.

Here is my piece for the challenge and I've called her Butterfly Wings.

The picture below was the original inspiration which a quick Google search tells me is work done by the Victorian artist Charles Burton Barber, only I could not find this version of the painting just different versions so I'm a bit confused!

Anyone who knows their Victorian artists I would be very grateful if you could put me out of my misery and tell me what this painting is called - Ta!

Edit: Thanks to the lovely Diane for putting me out of my misery and letting me know that the painting is called 'In Disgrace' - thanks sweetie!

Have glorious Sundays.

Within These Walls

I've been playing around with digital art again and wanted to show you my latest result. I've called this one 'Within These Walls' and have used the fabulous free downloads from the Craft Stamper website plus a texture photo from my collection for this poor forlorn Edwardian lady.

Thanks for looking :)

I've used one of my favourite Unity sets (I think I can probably say that about all of them!) Insightful Meadows for this one.

Think I shall play about with this some more - I quite like the effect LOL!

The next blog on your hop is Beate over at Fresh And Fun.

Thanks for looking and catch you later!

Quixotic Paperie Anniversary Blog Hop

Welcome to the Quixotic Paperie online store Anniversary Blog hop.

We are celebrating one year of Quixotic Paperie and do hope that you will join us. There will be lots of gorgeous makes to look at and of course some yummy prizes!

So if you have arrived at my blog from Quixtotic Inspirations (the Quixotic Paperie store blog) then you are on the right track! If not then really you will want to go to Quixotic Inspirations first to start a hopping :)

Quixotic Paperie was started on June 1st 2009 by Elaine Hughes. Having been an avid crafter (and craft shopper!) for a number of years, Elaine wanted to share her passion and see where it might take her - so, Quixotic Paperie was born! Since then, the store has grown, and now stocks a fabulous range of rubber stamps from around the world: The Greeting Farm, Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, SCACD Stamps, Paper Makeup Stamps, Belles 'n Whistles, the Mo Manning for Stamping Bella range, Stempelglede and more! In addition, the store carries a large range of charms and embellishments, and a host of gorgeous papers for all your crafty projects! If Elaine loves it, you will probably find it at Quixotic Paperie!

In November 2009 the Quixotic Challenges blog was started, where you can find weekly inspiration from the wonderful Quixotic Paperie Design Team, and join in for the chance to win a monthly prize.

I have totally loved working on Elaine's DT over the last year, she is one of the nicest people you can blog-meet and I've learnt so much working with her and the other wonderfully talented crafters she has in her DT (I think she had her eye's shut when she picked me to come along on the ride LOL!) they are an amazing bunch of girls!

Happy Crafty Birthday Quixotic Paperie, may there be many more to come!

Right, your next port of call is the amazing Judy Laing from Judy's Crafty Moments.

Don't forget to comment on every blog along the way for a chance to win, but I know you wont want to miss a blog as the hop list is stellar!

Enjoy!

My Love Can Not Be Measured

Hello folks, how are you all doing?

I managed to get some makes done other than my DT work and hope to be able to show them to you over the bank holiday weekend.

For my Saturday make I've used the fab sketch over at Scrap-Creations Challenges and as it is a Stampotique Originals sponsored challenge this week and I've just taken receipt of my new Stampotique stamps - literally they turned up yesterday morning - I thought I would have a go and play along. The papers are Basic Grey Two Scoops and I've used some yummy Prima lace as well.

The wonderful Karin has been coloured with PrismaColor pencils and her dress paper pieced. She has pink hair, pink hair is my thing at the moment, as you will see again very soon!

So things on my list to do this weekend, in no particular order:

(i) try to work out how to take better pictures with my new camera,
(ii) eat lots of yummy food,
(iii) do some exercise to work off all the lovely food I've eaten,
(iv) hang out with me man (top of the list of course),
(v) get some much missed and much overdue blog hopping done,
(vi) not eat the two tubs of ice cream we got on special offer yesterday.

Lots to do! Catch you later!
xxx

Today the make is a DT make for the Make The Day Special blog and it shows some of the QKR Stampede stamps that Emily has over at Make The Day Special shop, such cute stamps!

I've added to the patchwork feel with some paper piecing of the image and a paper patchwork background with stitching.

Cute Card Thursday May Guest DT Fourth Make

Hey Everyone, another card for you today and today it is my guest DT make for Cute Card Thursday which this week is all about:

No Designer Papers!

Fun one for me this week because like a lot of us I'm in love with my Designer Papers so it was fun to break the pattern (pardon the pun) and make my own papers for this challenge - hope you like them!

To make my backing paper I've used stamping, masking and a watercolour wash.

The image is from Stamping Bella and has been coloured with my favourite PrismaColor pencils with Sansodor blending so I thought I would enter the card into the Gingersnap Creations Spicy Supply Challenge which is 'Pencils'.

The heart I used blending inks and stamping with {Ippity} stamps finished with some yummy lace ribbon.

Right that is all from me today.
Have a lovely day.
Kim

Colouring - PrismaColor Pencils; Sansodor
