Cute Card Thursday Meets Creative Expressions

Wahoo! I can't wait to show you my card today! It is a combined Creative Expressions and Cute Card Thursday DT make. This week we have a fabulous sketch over at CCT to work from and I've swapped it around just a tiny bit to make this semi-circle stand card.

I've used the two folks driving stamps from the Creative Expressions Wrinkles Don't Hurt Stamp kit.

For the sentiment I've used stamps from one of Sam Poole's new stamp kits Vintage Typewriter.

It says ' I Wanna Drive Throu' Life With U' even if the looks on their faces doesn't quite match the sentiment I'm sure they have it in their hearts LOL!

Don't forget to check this week's Cute Card Thursday challenge, we have a great sponsor and the sketch is fabulous!

Catch you all later.

Look Back In {Ippity} - Last Chance Sale

EDIT - 17th Jan 2012 - Thanks for clicking through if you have arrived here from Pinterest! The heart card you are interested in is viewable via this link.

*******

How about a 'Look Back Tuesday' post?

The reason why I thought I would do a little skip and hop down memory lane is that Emily from {Ippity} Inspiration and Make The Day Special is having an

This might be your last chance to get these stamps easily as Emily, who is one of the only distributor of {Ippity} in the UK, is moving on and will not be stocking this range any more.

So I thought I would show some makes where I've included some {Ippity} stamps just to remind you of the awesomeness of these stamps LOL!

So get a cuppa and a biccy and enjoy!

First up is this card from August 2010 using the {Ippity} What Matters Most Kit

Ooo then what about these mushrooms from one of the first stamp sets I got from Emily? They are from the {Ippity} Because Of You kit and I used them on an Alice In Wonderland Altered page in April 2010.

Then we have the fabulous bird on the fence stamp from the {Ippity} Totally Happy kit used on this card from September 2010.

I always did love the stamps from the {Ippity} Moon Beams and Heart Strings Kit, you can see the stars in this make from March 2010.

Then there was this card from March 2011 which uses the wonderful {Ippity} Gurnsey Gingham stamp as a back drop to the Unity Suzi Blu You Are Loved (not {Ippity} I'm afraid but still a must have!
This {Ippity} Gurnsey Gingham stamp is now £2.75 I mean come on! Think of the creative possibilities! I'm a bit of a Gingham junky!

Then there were the cute Fishys from {Ippity} Fishy Philosophy used here in March 2010.

The next to show is another April 2010 make and used the {Ippity} Simply Home kit with the {Ippity} Moon Beams and Heart Strings kit.

Ok one last one, I've got a bit carried away but just thought I would show how versatile these stamps can be with this Christmas make from 2010 using the {Ippity} Totally Happy kit which was a Summer release but I've given it a Winter spin with some embossing powder and turned the bird into a Robin.

Oh that was good fun! I have plenty more if you fancied to keep on browsing!

I would love to see your old (and new) {Ippity} makes, if you have some to show do link below so I can come and look!

Don't forget to check out the stamps yourself and get them whilst you still can, all of the releases are listed by release date in the sidebar on the {Ippity} Inspiration blog.

Happy Bargain Hunting!

Fun With Fabric And Octopode Factory

Ahh Saturday, which means it is my day on the Quixotic Paperie blog and I thought that for my DT piece this week I would get all a bit fabric-y with the fabulous Ocotopode Factory stamps, new into Quixotic Paperie, and some yummy Prima papers.

I've used Octopode Factory Alice from the Alice in Wonderland range and made her a little quilted.

I've used the Octopode Factory Small Button Flower and the papers I've transferred onto the fabric are from Prima.

I've also used EZ Mount and Ranger Archival Jet Black which are both available in the  Quixotic Paperie shop

The paperclip was from Paperchase, or perhaps WHSmith, you know I don't remember! I'm just a stationery hoarder.

I've also used a bit of black ZIG Fabricolor Twin pen on the make too.

This one just kinda made itself, I started with the idea of transferring the Prima papers onto fabric and wanting to make something with the Octopode Factory stamps and the rest just developed in front of my eyes LOL!

It was great fun to do!

Hope you all have a very creative Saturday.

Catch you later

Beautiful Friday

Hello Friday Fluffs, how are you all?

How do you fancy a bit of cosmetic beauty to get in to that Friday Party Feeling?

I've got a couple of samples for you using Sam Poole's You Look 'Scent' Sational stamps available from Creative Expressions. These are samples I did for a Create and Craft show way back in August.

I thought the lipstick from the kit would make a great message on a mirror look and I used some of the Cosmic Shimmer Ultra Thick Embossing powder as the lipstick.

You can see the gorgeous two tone effect which I love with the Cosmic Shimmer embossing powders. I've also used the fabulous wide sheer polka dot ribbon and the Spellbinders Labels 9.

My next card will appeal to the princess in all of us!

Oh I hear you sister!

Right, I'm off, I've got to clear up my workspace so that I can actually do some work, I was meant to do it yesterday but I just ended up making it more messy in an attempt to re-organise!

I hope you have a very beautiful Friday!

Oooo, Yummy Stamps...

Confession time! I haven't had a chance to make my DT project this week for Make The Day Special so I thought I would pop in to show you some of the yummy stamps available over in the Make The Day Special shop instead!

I know! So evil putting more stamps on your wish list!

So have you seen these fabby Halloween stamps from Lawn Fawn?

So cute and I love the faces on the ghosts!

What about these make your own Snowmen stamps also from Lawn Fawn! Cool!

Now I have a bit of a thing for maps so the Travel Notes stamp set from Unity / Simple Stories is perfect!

I could go on for ages but I think I will show one more before I go!

This one is from Flourishes and is called Sweet Days Of Summer and is very on trend with the Silhouettes! So sweet!

Have you got any favourites over at Make The Day Special?

What is on your wish list?
If you are anything like me your wish list is probably a mile long at least!

Well have fun wish listing!

La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday

Get your doilies out it's La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday! This week and as you might have guessed the Inspiration is to use a doily in your make.

For My DT make this week I've used Princess Marci and you can get her as a rubber stamp or as a digi-stamp.

Have you spotted the doily? I've used it as a ribbon trim across the centre of the card.

Don't forget to check out the other La-La Land Crafts DT Inspiration over at the blog today and on Friday and of course you can add your La-La Land Crafts makes to the Customer Gallery to be in with a chance to win some stamps and have your make featured on the blog.

Well have a princess kinda day!

Spooky Saturday

Another Spooky make for you all today and this one is my DT make for Quixotic Paperie. Going all Halloweeny at the moment! You don't need to look away as there are no spiders on this one but there is a gentleman Skeleton! He is from the Artistic Outpost Haunted Halloween stamp set and when I first saw him I knew that I had to have him!

I've matched him with the fabulous Echo Park Apothecary papers and some chaotic stitchery.

If you look carefully you might see that the sentiment, also from the Artistic Outpost Haunted Halloween stamp set, is in fact hanging from a thread and is free to swing eerily around the front of the card.

When you pick up your Artistic Outpost stamps don't forget to get some EZ Mount as well.

ps. I've linked this up to the Artistic Outpost September referral program and whilst you are there also check out their lovely stuff.

Have a super scary Saturday.

Brrr...Last Throws Of Summer

Will this be my last Summer make for this year? Sneaked in at the last minute as the wind blows and the leaves fall from the trees, in desperate hope of a last blast of Summer. Hey ho!

So I've gone for some sunny, holiday papers for my DT make with the Creative Expressions Umount Wrinkle Don't Hurt image and sentiment.

But don't look too closely as I think she has goose bumps!

Have a lovely Friday.

How To Make Acrylic Paint And ZIG Alcohol Blender Ink Backgrounds.

I promised you all a tutorial for my La-La Land Crafts DT make for this week's Inspiration Monday. Well here as promised is how I made the spooky background for the little Skeleton Luka Tag.

I adapted the technique from Nancy Reyner's book Acrylic Revolution and is really easy to do if you have a little bit of time and want to play with some acrylic paint and alcohol blender ink. I just love the texture it adds to a make!

[There are some affiliate links in this blog post, so if you buy through them I do get a small amount of money at no extra cost to yourself. Thanks for your support!]

You will need:
Corrugated Card
Old Book Page
A Liquid Glue (like PVA or Elmer's)
Acrylic Paint
Alcohol Blending Ink (like ZIG Kurecolor Blender refill/alcohol ink; Adirondack Alcohol Blending solution or Rubbing Alcohol solution)
Golden Polymer Medium (Gloss)
Non-Absorbent surface (like an Acrylic block)
Non-Absorbent dip stick (like a palette knife)

Plus - Your favourite La-La Land Crafts Halloween Image (mine was Skeleton Luka and you can get him as rubber stamp or as a digi-stamp), colouring materials, button, needle, sewing machine, thread, eyelet and eyelet puncher, button, black ink pad, Alpha stamps.

Step One - Prepare The Background
Cut a piece of corrugated card to bigger than you want your final tag to be and if you need to, take the top layer of paper off to expose the corrugations.

Tear out a page from an old (unwanted!) book and use the glue to stick the page to the corrugated card and let it dry fully.

Once dry tear off the book page to reveal the corrugated card again, you can leave on or take off as much as you want!

Step Two - Seal The Surface
You need to coat the support with a layer of medium to seal it, so try a gloss medium like the Golden Polymer Medium. Before you coat the book page/corrugated card it is quite absorbent and will just soak up the acrylic paint and alcohol blender solution and you wont get the
same effect.

Allow this layer to dry before moving on to the next step.

Step Three - Paint The Tag
Cut out the tag shape from the prepared corrugated card. Make up an acrylic paint solution with your chosen colour and some water, I used approximately 1:1 water to paint for my glaze but it really is down to personal preference and the acrylic paint you are using.

Now you will have to start working a bit quickly at this point as you do not want the paint to dry before you add the alcohol blender ink.

Paint the tag and move directly onto the next step.

Step Four - Add The Blender And Watch The Magic!
Add a couple of drops of the alcohol blender ink to a non-porous surface (I used an acrylic block) and dip your non-porous dip stick (e.g. a palette knife) into the drops and then touch it to the still wet acrylic paint on the tag.

The alcohol blender ink spreads in a circle pushing the acrylic paint away from the area leaving a really interesting look. The more alcohol blender ink you add the bigger the circle will be so try adding different amounts to get different looks, but be careful not to use too much as it will wash the paint away completely.

Repeat this process as many times as you want to get the look you want. When you have finished let the tag dry.

Step Five - Add A Bit Of Stitchery
Free-stitch, machine stitch or hand stitch (whichever you are most comfortable with) a spider's web at the top of your tag.

Step Six - And Finish!
Sew on a little spider button and stitch it some legs - creepy! Edge the tag with the black ink pad and add the eyelet. Colour your La-La Land Crafts image and stick to the tag. Finish with the little sentiment.

Have fun with this one! As always if you use this one I would love to see what you make and if you leave a comment with a link I'll be sure to pop by.

Catch you later alligator.
