Someone Is Watching You!

Do you have that feeling like someone is watching you? Well they are! LOL!

I'm super late today with my Quixotic Paperie post, I've literally just finished it and high-tailed it over to the blog to get it all posted! Phewee it is hot off the presses!

It is a little sample, I'm calling it that because it was meant to be an ATC but it turned out just a smidge too big to be classed as one. I've used two of my favourite stamp sets from the Artistic Outpost range - Steampunk Set and the London Underground Set

The background was stamped over rusted fabric with Archival Coffee ink pad.

Quick he has just looked away...

You can sneak off now!

BUT before you do don't forget to check out the Quixotic Paperie Design Team Call and the Sale!

Some Page Altering - In The Deep Blue Sea

Something a little different for a Friday and my Guest DT piece for Alter It Monthly. This month's challenge is 'Sirens, mermaids and deep blue sea'.

So another head scratcher for me! But I fancied doing something stitchy with book pages and perhaps a bit of digital art as well.

You might recognise the mermaid? Erm...?

There are lots of fabric and paper mixes in this piece all coloured with ZIG Art and Graphic pens from Kuretake using watercolour techniques.

I've used both machine and hand stitching to add some more texture.

The slightly scary, ethereal, underwater mermaid uses digital art techniques and some playing around with image transfer.

It is nice to see that even my alter-ego fish self is nail obsessed!

Enjoy your mysterious underwater Friday.

Cute Card Thursday And Pixie Dust Studio Winter Release

I know that a lot of you well organized people are already doing your Christmas cards, not me I like to leave it to the very last minute and then give up and buy my Christmas cards, or just not send any at all! But for you guys that are totally on top of these things today is your lucky day!

It's the Pixie Dust Studio's Winter release and there are lots of super cute Christmas themed images to pick from.

So I thought I would make a Chrimbo card to show you and I've merged it with both the Cute Card Thursday challenge which is 'No Designer Papers' (check the blog for the sponsor this week) and the Pixie Dust Studio challenge which is 'Anything Goes'.

So cute!

No excuse to leave those Christmas 'til the last minute again this year!

Enjoy yourself on the two challenges!

Calling All South London Crafty Folks!

Are you looking for something crafty to do in South London this Sunday (7th August)?

Well I can highly recommend the SW Craft Club Summer Pop-Up event, it's a free entry make and take and a great chance to meet some new crafty friends and try your hand at some new crafts.

It's being held at 12- 4pm The Landor Pub, 70 Landor Road, SW9 9PH

I helped out at the July event, there was all sorts to do including cupcake decorating, badge making, clothes altering, fabric flowers and you could even try your hand at mosaics, all being facilitated by local designers and artists.

There will be a whole range of things to do again at this event and you can find out more by checking out the SW Craft Club Blog or go say hello to Zoe, who runs the events, over on the SW Craft Club Facebook page.

Stamping With ZIG Fabricolor Twin Pens

Thought I would play with some fabric for this week's Make The Day Special make. I've been meaning to try out the ZIG Fabricolor Twin pens so I've used them to colour and stamp on some calico to make this little flower ATC.

I've used stamps from the Unity Adventures in Happiness Store kit

If you are interested here is a quick step by step for this project, so time to grab that coffee!

You Will Need:
Stamps: Unity Adventures in Happiness Store kit
Colouring: ZIG Fabricolor Twin pens
Substrate: Card (thin); Calico
Usual Suspects: Bondaweb; Scissors
Equipment: Heat Tool; Iron; Sewing Machine
Other: Craft mat (or stick free surface); Threads; Baking paper; Spray bottle of water; ZIG Water Colour System BrusH20

Prepare The ATC
Cut the thin card to ATC size (2.5 by 3.5 inches) and iron on some Bondaweb to fit the ATC. Don't forget to use your baking paper to protect your iron from the Bondweb!

Rip the Calico to fit the front of the ATC and iron into the Bondweb side of the card.

Colour The ATC
I used the 'Scribble' Technique to colour the ATC, so scribble the brush end of the ZIG Fabricolor Twin pen onto your stick free surface and spritz with water then use the fabric side of the ATC to pick up the droplets of colour. Dry with a heat tool if you are as impatient as me! Repeat this until you achieve a look you are happy with.

Stamp The Image
Again using the brush end of the ZIG Fabricolor Twin pen to colour the Unity Adventures in Happiness Store kit stamp and spray with a fine mist of water before stamping. I wanted the sentiment to be merged into the background so I stamped on a spare piece of paper first before my ATC.

The beauty of the pens is that you can put different colours precisely where you want them on the stamp and I stamped the flowers using different colours.

Add Defining Touches
I then used the bullet tip end of the ZIG Fabricolor Twin pen to define some of the areas of the image and added shading by 'pulling' the colour across with a ZIG Water Colour System BrusH20.

When I was happy with the look a gave it a final pass over with the iron (again using the baking sheet to protect the iron) to dry and fix the colour.

Add Some Stitching
I got my baby out (aka Sewing Machine) to add some machine stitching and 'Voila' one fabric ATC coloured and stamped.

There is just something about the texture of colour on calico that I just love!

Happy Creating!

Sunday Round-Up

Ok so here we are, it's Sunday morning, I'm sat with a HUGE cup of tea in my left hand and typing badly with my right hand, I'm watching The Avengers: Earth's Mightest Heroes and I've just had breakfast of a Matzo with Marmite - Perfect Sunday Morning!

It has been a fabulously busy week I've been meeting up with crafty bloggy friends and meeting new crafty folks at various crafty events/ meetings. I've come to the conclusion that crafting events are like buses, you know, you wait around for ages and then four come along at the
same time.

I've also managed to sneak in a bit of making and I have some slightly different blog posts coming up that I hope you will enjoy!

So one of the bloggy folk I managed to meet this week was the lovely and talented Anika from Anikraft. She was holding her first market stall yesterday (some of you might have seen it mentioned it in my Friday post) and I wanted to go say 'Hi' as we hadn't met in real life yet and show some support 'coz us maker/ arty/ crafty folk should stick together!

Anika makes absolutely gorgeous things, I've always loved her work and they look even more fabulous in real life! I'll let you know when she does her next market stall but you can always go follower her to find out first hand and of course see her Folksy shop :)

And no, she hasn't got me on commission LOL!

I'm still trying to get my act together and gather up my courage to do a market stall! Maybe
one day.

I had some fabulous and surprising news on Friday morning, Irina (the owner of La-La Land Crafts) spotted this:

Yep, it is my recent article for Papercraft Essentials UK on the cover of the sister magazine published in Australia! Wahoo! I used lots of La-La Land Crafts stamps for an article on using different colouring mediums such as Prismacolor pencils, Copic markers, Kuretake ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens

I was well chuffed (translation: very pleased indeed) as I've not made the main cover piccy on the UK Papercraft Essentials yet LOL!

Ok so tea is drunk, Matzo is eaten, cartoons are watched and blog post is finished, better go do some work then!

Enjoy your Sunday.

Would You Believe It?

Guess what? Would you believe that the card I'm showing today I actually made way back in January? Honestly, I don't know why it has taken me so long to get this one up on the blog!

I made this one for a commission and for anyone who has been missing corrugated card from my blog well here is a touch to make you feel at home!

I've called this card 'Stars' because of the cute little row of stars at the bottom!

So what you all up to this weekend? If any of you are in the vicinity of London Bridge/ Borough Market, in London, then you might like to drop in on the Wonder Hill High Market craft and handmade market running 11am to 5pm in The Miller (96 Snowsfields Road, London, SE1 3SS). Whilst you are there look out for Anika from Anikraft and her lovely makes!

Catch you later.

Cute Card Thursday - A Sketch

It's Cute Card Thursday and this week the challenge is a sketch. You can see the sketch and find out more about this week's sponsor by popping by the Cute Card Thursday Blog.

For my make this week I've used one of the elegant Japanese inspired ladies from last month's Kraftin' Kimmies stamps release and she is available, with her beautiful sisters, from Quixotic Paperie.

I've just realised she is my namesake - Kimiko - LOL! I've used her with papers from the Memory Box Pixie collection. I've added a bit of sparkle with the Viva Decor Glitter liner Holo Iridescent pen.

I went for a vintage-feel colour scheme to colour her, what do you think?

Hope you have a good Thursday and enjoy the challenge.

Mixing and Matching

Been mixing and matching my stamps from Make The Day Special or Ippity Inspiration to make this tag today. It is quite a simple little make but I do like the clean and simple look from time to time as you know!

The heart is from the Unity Wishes and Kisses kit, the key is from the My Cute Stamp Key Set and the sentiment comes from the Ippity Totally Happy set.

Happy stamping!

Inspiration Monday {Centre Step Card}

Have you seen the new La-La Land Crafts Stamp Release? What do you think? Got any favourites? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to show favourites, which is lucky because every time I look at them I pick a new one but then I am quite contrary LOL!

If you have not seen the new releases yet you can pop on over to the La-La Land Blog to see them and many of the DT have used them for their Inspiration Monday and Friday makes this week :)

The Inspiration Monday/ Friday challenge is a Centre Step Card.

I've used Faerie Marci from the new Fairytale collection.

Isn't she gorgeous?

I would love to hear which of the new La-La Land Crafts Stamps are your favourites!

Have fun
Kim
