What Did You Do This Weekend?

Well it was a quiet weekend for us. We didn't do an awful lot, just relaxed. We did have some dim sum at one of our favourite restaurants, I had my camera with me so I took a picture to tease you all with the lovely food!

Then spent the rest of the weekend watching Harry Potter movies and eating sweets. Think I might need to do some exercise next week!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Art Journaling With Unity And Ippity

Hey Guys, I've been playing in my art journal with paints, stamps and inks and thought I would give you a peak at how it turned out. I know, I know it isn't a card but I just can't help myself - LOL!

I built up some textures with layers of paint, bits of newspaper and book pages. Then added the top colour with my Neocolor watercolour crayons. The stamps I used were the Stars and moons from the Ippity Moon Beams and Heart Strings kit, the sentiment from the Ippity What Matters Most kit and the grass is from the Unity Insightful Meadows kit. Yum, love these stamps!

Thanks for popping by and viewing my playing!

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 41

Quixotic Paperie Challenge DT make to show today and this week the challenge was thought up by the lovely Emma and is:

How Does Your Garden Grow?

All about adding flowers and / or leaves to your make.

I decided to go on a bit of a steampunk / punk / emo  theme for my make this week using the wonderful The Greeting Farm Wild Sprout Eric available over at Quixotic Paperie. I've matched him (her?) with the gorgeous Graphic 45 papers from the Halloween in Wonderland and Christmas Past packs.

The papers were fun to distress and I 'rusted' a silver chain, safety pins and brads to embellish the make. The leaves are cut from a book page and I lightly glazed them with the Viva Decor Walnut Gloss Pen

The cogs are light card painted with acrylic paints. Got some more close-ups:

Showed a lot of details today! Think I quite like how this one turned out LOL!

Before I go just a quick mention of the new special stamp from Elizabeth Bell at SCACD. Elaine has her on Pre-order for delivery in a couple of weeks.

Have a fabulous Emo Wednesday.

What's New Quixotic Paperie?

Hi Guys, I thought that I would take the opportunity of a quiet Sunday to post a little look-see at some of the new products Elaine has in Quixotic Paperie.

The first is one of the fabulous new Alota background stamps this one is perfect for Spooky Halloween makes.

Elaine has also got the new September releases from C.C. Designs.

I'm totally loving the new Crate Paper 6x6 Pads like this wonderful School Spirit.

Being in total denial about Christmas and thinking of not making any Christmas card this year my next pick of the new yummies from Quixotic Paperie might be a bit of an odd choice! But the lovely backgrounds in the new Echo Park Christmas Papers might still sway me back to Christmas cards LOL!

Enjoy!

More Painting Experiments

Another page from my art journal to show you this weekend. I think I'm calling this one 'In A Spin' or maybe 'Maelstrom'.

It was great fun getting messy with this one, lots of paint, making swirls, making marks and generally throwing it around the place - including, as I found out later, the walls in the kitchen. Well we needed to decorate. Tee Hee!

Have a fun Saturday.

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 40

I like to Move It, Move It,
I like to Move It, Move It
I like to MOVE IT!

Ok, confession - I am a bit of a fan of the film Madagascar and no I don't have any children so I can not even pretend I like the movie because of them!

This week's Quixotic Challenge is right up my street:

"Move it, move it"

That means have something on your project that moves in some way... a tag you pull, a flap, slider card, spinner card, double slider card, flower pot pocket or even a shaker card.

Here is my Move It make - Cute and creepy Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp Mitzi Mummy looking for some brains to eat! BRAINS! Mwahaha!

Ok - I'm scaring myself now!

I've matched her with the lovely Memory Box Black Bird Papers and used my Shimmerz Spritz paints to sparkle up and darken some floral felt ribbon. The little corner pearls were made with my Viva Decor Walnut Gloss pen.

You can get all these lovely goodies from Quixotic Paperie and the Shimmerz is all on special offer!

Well, what about the movement I hear you ask? If you look to the right of the image you will see the little pumpkin, which comes with this stamp. If you move the pumpkin up or down the Mummy comes alive and starts eating brains!

ARrrrrgghhhhhhh! Ok scared again!

Think I better go hide behind the sofa - that well known technique for eluding scary, brain-eating Mummies.

But before I quiver away, have you seen Amy Young's gorgeous new Twisted Sisters for the C.C. Designs Sweet November range? Elaine has them all at Quixotic Paperie waiting to be rehomed - they are gorgeous!

Mwahaha!

Playing With Paint And Glue

I've been dropping subtle hints here on my blog over the last week or so that I might subject you all to my playing with paint and art journal pages. Well today is your lucky day got a mixed media journal page to show you!

I thought I would start with this piece as it directly inspired the recent mixed media gift box I posted not so long ago.

I would have called this piece 'Paris' except if you look closely at the map you will see it is actually an old UK road map, so perhaps I should call the piece 'Travel' or 'Road Trip' instead?

Playing with paint is such fun, I'm not totally sure if this page is finished yet but that is the great thing about having an art journal it never has to be perfect and you can add to it any time you want!

Have a fabulously painty day.
Kim

Another Mixed Media Card

Some more playing with texture for my make today. For this one I've painted some calico, ripped out book pages and torn up packaging. I love getting messy! For the focal point of this piece I have used the gorgeous stamps from the July Unity Store Kit Key To Joy available over at Make The Day Special.

I did think that the butterfly and sentiment worked nicely together, what do you think? If you take the music notes on the butterfly as the 'Master Key'? Is that pushing it?

Well hope you have a musical day.
Kim

Ink - Versamark sepia; Distress ink Vintage Photo
Colouring - Neocolor crayons
Usual Suspects - Golden Heavy gel; silicone glue; Bonda-web; Scissors

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 128

When I saw the challenge for this week's Cute Card Thursday I was so excited:

Fabric

Yippee I thought! Just one of my most favourite things to incorporate in a card!

I have gone the whole hog and used some gingham fabric for my background and some matching fabric scraps for the bunting. I thought it was a perfect match for the lovely Tania Baking from Belles 'n Whistles available in a new clear photopolymer stamp format over at Quixotic Paperie.

Oh and I might have used some more corrugated cardboard again! I know, I know - I'm obsessed with the stuff!

Isn't she gorgeous?

Have a fabulous day.
Kim

Ink - memento tuxedo black
Colouring - Prismacolor pencils; Sansodor
Usual Suspects - Silicone glue; bonda-web; Scissors

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 39

Thank you all so much for the messages of support about the mix up with my work in Craft Stamper, you are all so wonderful! I love you all! I'm thinking of changing my name as there are just too many of us Kim's in the crafty world so any suggestions would be gratefully received LOL!

Anyway onwards and upwards! It is a new Wednesday and a new Quixotic Paperie Challenge, which this week has been chosen by the lovely Simonne:

Black, White and One Other Colour

Fabulous! One of my favourite colour combos. I've chosen yellow as my added colour, I thought it went well with my gorgeous Belles 'n Whistles stamps Lemonade Anyone? available at Quixotic Paperie.

Many of the Belles 'n Whistles Rubber stamps are on Super Special Offer Prices so definitely the right time to get them!

The papers are the wonderful My Mind's Eye Meadowlark Dawn and I have used the black raffia lace and a heart shaped pearl to add embellishment, all available at Quixotic Paperie.

Another close up of our Lemonade Sweetie! I added some sparkle to the drinks with the Viva Decor Glitter Liner Holo Iridescent.

BTW the new The Greeting Farm September releases are in stock at Quixotic Paperie, I have my eye on Sweet 'n Toxic! Love!
Well off now to finish some more cards!
See you later.
