Quixotic Paperie Anniversary Blog Hop

Welcome to the Quixotic Paperie online store Anniversary Blog hop.

We are celebrating one year of Quixotic Paperie and do hope that you will join us. There will be lots of gorgeous makes to look at and of course some yummy prizes!

So if you have arrived at my blog from Quixtotic Inspirations (the Quixotic Paperie store blog) then you are on the right track! If not then really you will want to go to Quixotic Inspirations first to start a hopping :)

Quixotic Paperie was started on June 1st 2009 by Elaine Hughes. Having been an avid crafter (and craft shopper!) for a number of years, Elaine wanted to share her passion and see where it might take her - so, Quixotic Paperie was born! Since then, the store has grown, and now stocks a fabulous range of rubber stamps from around the world: The Greeting Farm, Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, SCACD Stamps, Paper Makeup Stamps, Belles 'n Whistles, the Mo Manning for Stamping Bella range, Stempelglede and more! In addition, the store carries a large range of charms and embellishments, and a host of gorgeous papers for all your crafty projects! If Elaine loves it, you will probably find it at Quixotic Paperie!

In November 2009 the Quixotic Challenges blog was started, where you can find weekly inspiration from the wonderful Quixotic Paperie Design Team, and join in for the chance to win a monthly prize.

I have totally loved working on Elaine's DT over the last year, she is one of the nicest people you can blog-meet and I've learnt so much working with her and the other wonderfully talented crafters she has in her DT (I think she had her eye's shut when she picked me to come along on the ride LOL!) they are an amazing bunch of girls!

Happy Crafty Birthday Quixotic Paperie, may there be many more to come!

Right, your next port of call is the amazing Judy Laing from Judy's Crafty Moments.

Don't forget to comment on every blog along the way for a chance to win, but I know you wont want to miss a blog as the hop list is stellar!

Enjoy!

My Love Can Not Be Measured

Hello folks, how are you all doing?

I managed to get some makes done other than my DT work and hope to be able to show them to you over the bank holiday weekend.

For my Saturday make I've used the fab sketch over at Scrap-Creations Challenges and as it is a Stampotique Originals sponsored challenge this week and I've just taken receipt of my new Stampotique stamps - literally they turned up yesterday morning - I thought I would have a go and play along. The papers are Basic Grey Two Scoops and I've used some yummy Prima lace as well.

The wonderful Karin has been coloured with PrismaColor pencils and her dress paper pieced. She has pink hair, pink hair is my thing at the moment, as you will see again very soon!

So things on my list to do this weekend, in no particular order:

(i) try to work out how to take better pictures with my new camera,
(ii) eat lots of yummy food,
(iii) do some exercise to work off all the lovely food I've eaten,
(iv) hang out with me man (top of the list of course),
(v) get some much missed and much overdue blog hopping done,
(vi) not eat the two tubs of ice cream we got on special offer yesterday.

Lots to do! Catch you later!
xxx

Today the make is a DT make for the Make The Day Special blog and it shows some of the QKR Stampede stamps that Emily has over at Make The Day Special shop, such cute stamps!

I've added to the patchwork feel with some paper piecing of the image and a paper patchwork background with stitching.

Thanks for popping by and catch you later!

Hey Everyone, another card for you today and today it is my guest DT make for Cute Card Thursday which this week is all about:

Fun one for me this week because like a lot of us I'm in love with my Designer Papers so it was fun to break the pattern (pardon the pun) and make my own papers for this challenge - hope you like them!

To make my backing paper I've used stamping, masking and a watercolour wash.

The image is from Stamping Bella and has been coloured with my favourite PrismaColor pencils with Sansodor blending so I thought I would enter the card into the Gingersnap Creations Spicy Supply Challenge which is 'Pencils'.

The heart I used blending inks and stamping with {Ippity} stamps finished with some yummy lace ribbon.

Right that is all from me today.
Have a lovely day.

Make The Day Special Sympathy Card

I wanted to show you my recent make for the Make The Day Special blog, it is a sympathy card, or a card to tell someone that they are in your thoughts. I always find those sorts of cards the hardest to make and send.

It is a very simple card and has no embellishments, all I've used is stamping onto Kraft card. The stamps I've used are from different Unity and {Ippity} sets, the new {Ippity} A bit of burlap with white ink for the background, the plant is Unity Insightful Meadow and the sentiment is from the Unity March Store Kit.

Have a lovely day

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 26

Hey, Hey, Hey it is Quixotic Paperie Challenge Day! And we have a real interesting one for you:

How Sentimental!

It is all about making your sentiments and word art the focus of your make, and if you are short of some sentiments or word art than Quixotic Paperie has some beautiful ones new in from Paper Make-Up stamps.

It is one of the Paper Make-Up stamps word art that I have used for my DT make.

I've highlighted two of the words with a touch of colour added to a separate image and cut out and layered over the word art to add a bit of dimension. The paper I've used is from the Basic Grey Sugar Rush pad.

Little bit of stitching and and paper folding with a button threaded with fibres to finish off!

Looking forward to seeing your sentiment and word art makes.
Kim

Some Digital Collage Art

Ok so you know me well enough by now to know that I am always dipping my toe into different things, Jack of all trades, master of none! Bit of a wiggle bum, chopping and changing what I show you on my blog.

I kind of think that if I cast a big enough net that I will find that 'thing' that really fits me, but in the mean time I'm enjoying the journey and learning lots of things along the way!

Well one of my loves is photography and digital collage art so I've been having a little play with Photoshop Elements and here is a piece I'm playing with at the moment called 'Flutter My Heart'.

Thanks for bearing with me :)
Hope you all have a lovely Monday.

Out And About

Been trying to cram a lot into my weekend. Yesterday David and I were up early to Carpe Diem, seizing our day well and proper! We set out early for the Barbican to see the Céleste Boursier-Mougenot commission in The Curve which was wonderful.

To explain - it is an instillation piece with a walk through aviary where Zebra Finches can perch on guitars. The guitars are wired to loud speakers and as the birds build nests, clean themselves, chat to each other, they interact with the guitar strings filling the air with abstract strumming and bird song.

It was amazing. As you walk amongst the birds they will perch on you from time to time. There was something really calming and nice about being able to interact and get that close to the birds. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures so I can not show you anything but if you are interested then pop to this link here, the exhibition is open until next weekend and well worth seeing if you can.

I did take some pictures in the Barbican though and I really liked the lines and colour of this one so I thought I would show you it instead :)

We treated ourselves to lunch at a Sichuan restaurant in the King's Cross area called Snazz Sichuan which was yummy, then off to the free map exhibition Magnificent Maps at the British Library. I don't know what it is about maps but I love them. The exhibition was fabulous and totally packed, which was quite a surprise.

There were many amazing maps going back several hundred of years with amazing details and insights into the world and beliefs of the time. Amongst my favourite from the exhibition was the 2008 satirical London map by Stephen Walter called 'The Island'. If you are a bit of a mappy like me then I would highly recommend going to see this exhibition - just try to get there at a quieter time then just before closing which is when we went - Oops!

Today has been busy too, a little bit of crafting, hopefully you will see the results later in the week. I've also been slowly but surely listing more items into my Etsy and Folksy shops.

I shall leave you with this silly photo I took of him and me reflected in a mirror window - I dread to think what the people on the other side of the window thought whilst we were taking the picture, LOL!

Catch you later
Kim
