Craft Barn Mini-Album

Hi Guys, hope you are having a lovely weekend. I'm sure that you have seen that The Craft Barn have been doing a fabulous mini-album tutorial and competition with sketches to follow and fabulous inspiration from the DT.

I've never done a mini-album and have wanted to have a go for ages so this was perfect way to ease me into it, LOL! Thanks The Craft Barn!

So here is my attempt! The Craft Barn gave us a sketch for each page of the mini-album to play with, one sketch per day. I've used Japanese book binding on the finished piece, threaded with fibres and calico, and you can see it on my picture for Day One. The rest of the pages where photographed before binding.

I decided to use as my theme photos from our various wanderings around our home town London, which I've taken over the years. With a rough and ready feel and lots of distressing.

Day One - The cover

Day Two

Day Three

Day Four

Day Five

Day Six

Day Seven

Day Eight

Day Nine (I've swapped the sketch around slightly)

Day Ten - there wasn't really a day ten but here is my back page :)

You still have a chance to join in the competition as the closing date is 15th May so get cracking!
Have fun!
Kim

I have a card to show you today that uses one of the Mo Manning images made into Rubber by Stamping Bella and available at Quixotic Paperie. I've used the great sketch over at Sketch Saturday for this card with Basic Grey Granola papers and some French knots for the six little embellishments.

Right off to do some sweeping of my own.

One Day At A Time

This is very much how I feel at the moment, taking one day at a time, trying not to get my knickers in too much of a twist over things in the future that I can not control! So today's make is a reflection of me - Slightly scruffy and trying to be relaxed LOL!

I've used the lovely sentiment and flock of butterflies (is the collective term for butterflies a flock?) from the {Ippity} What Matters Most kit and I thought that as I have used Kraft card as a base that I would enter this card into the Gingersnaps Colour Challenge GC52 which is Kraft this month.

I've used a light layer of Gesso on a book page, stamped and embossed the image and then inked over the top.

You might have noticed that I am pretty much obsessed with altering book pages at the moment! But then I did find this wonderful old illustrated encyclopedia in a local charity shop for 50p, perfect for my new obsession!

Have a great book page altering day.
Kim

Materials:
Ink - Archival Black; Versamark, Versacolor various
Usual Suspects - Paper trimmer; Double-sided tape; 3D-foam

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 23

Quixotic Paperie Challenge day and this week Simonne has chosen the theme:

How Distressing!

So get your distressing tools and/or your inks and go for it!

I've used The Greeting Farm Ebony for this make, I think she is fabulous! She is matched with some hand stitching, lace and of course some distressed edges!

There are two types of lace on this card, both available from Quixotic Paperie, Prima lace and the 1.5" lace. I hand coloured the lace with my shimmerz paints and Spritz using several different colours to give a variegated look rather than a solid colour look.

I've used Cosmo Cricket Early bird papers (which are on back order at Quixotic Paperie)

Ebony is coloured with my Copic markers and I've used a pearl bead and a bead cap for the centre of my lace flower.

Thanks for dropping by.
Can't wait to see your distressed makes.
Kim

Materials:
Colouring - Copic Markers
Usual Suspects - Paper trimmer; Silicone glue; Double-Sided tape

Just A Quickie!

Have you seen the Mo Manning images made into rubber for Stamping Bella?

Elaine has them over at Quixotic Paperie.

Back later with my Quixotic Paperie Challenge card!

Just Sailing In

After all my lighthouse cards last week, I am continuing with the sailing theme for today's make. Simon Says Stamps Challenges has a 'Things with Wings' theme this week so I thought I would use the Paper Make-Up Stamp Taylor from Quixotic Paperie.

I've matched her with one of the Magnolia Sailing background stamps and the sentiment is from the Paper Make-Up Sailing By kit.

I've added sparkle on her wings with a Sakura Glitter pen from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie (she has run out but will be getting some more in soon!).

Thanks for sailing in my blog today :)
Kim

Ink - VersaFine Onyz Black; Ranger Distress ink

Another Altered Page

Hi Guys, for anyone who regularly sees my makes you will know that I am a bit of the style-flitter - I jump around the different styles having not worked out what my style actually is yet!

I'm not sure if it is just my need to try out everything, or my very short attention span or if, one day, I will settle on a particular style.

I've been having lots of fun with altered pages at the moment! So I thought I would show you another one, slightly different from my Alice In wonderland - Inspired make. I've called this one Language Bird. Ok so I'm not so good with naming my makes!

I thought I would enter this into the Free As A Bird Challenge over at Ink On My Fingers which holds the Sunday Stamper's Challenge and as it is the 100 challenge it is sponsored by The Artistic Stamper and The Stamp Attic.

I've used a page from an old English encyclopedia and from a German book - however, as I do not speak German I have no idea what the page is about!

I've coloured the page with Watercolour wax crayons and then masked and used inks over the top. The bird and branch are Wendy Rhodes stamps and I've used Glossy Accents over the bird.

There is a bit of doodling and stitching and I used the Bazzill Templates for the stitched swirls. The stamp is from Japan.

Right off to flitter
(is that even a word, my spell check doesn't seem to recognise it? Where is my Editor boyfriend when I need him?)
about with something else.
Hope you are all having a great Saturday
Kim

Materials:
Stamps - Wendy Rhodes
Ink - Archival Black; VersaColor inks
Colouring - Neocolor Watersoluble wax crayons
Other - Glossy Accents; Bazzill Templates; Stamp; embroidery thread; Prismacolor Illustration markers; Templates; Mod Podge
