Curiouser And Curiouser! Cried Alice

I've been playing with paint and having a whale of a time! Why does playing with paint make me so ridiculously happy? LOL!

Well here is the result of a recent playing with paint session - an Alice in Wonderland inspired altered book page that has been rattling around in my head for a couple of months or so now.

I thought that I would enter it into the Sir Stampalot April Challenge which is all about 'Fantasy' and get this - you can win a Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter! Oh Boy Oh Boy! Yes you heard me right - quick, you have until Midday 29th April to get you entries in!

The details (skip to the pictures if you aren't interested LOL!):

For my altered Alice page I've used a range of techniques and materials. The background is painted in acrylics on an old book page and layered up on painted calico. I've used salt to give that broken-up speckled look and then a Tim Holtz mask to give the negative image shadow.

I really should have taken pictures of each stage as I was going along, but I didn't think it would ever get to my blog, LOL!

I've used Viva Decor glitter gel to add some dimension. Then stamped Paper Artsy and Tuesday Technique stamps on the background for the clock and clock parts.

Alice is from the internet and I've lightly coloured her with pencils - I wanted a tinted look rather than coloured look.

The Cheshire Cat was hand drawn using the recent Tim Burton film for inspiration. The key is a Stamps Away stamp on paper and then glazed onto the page with tinted Mod Podge (my new best friend!).

Of course I had to use fabric, lace, buttons and stitching LOL! Coloured, where needed, with acrylic paint. You might also have noticed some {Ippity} Stamps as well - the Mushrooms :)

This was such fun to do! It might take a bit longer than you average card - even at the rate I make cards! Which is very slowly!

Well thanks for looking
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend

Perfect for this challenge!

Here is my DT make for the challenge. Originally I had decided to use some pins, but then I was overwhelmed by this urge to try stamping on sheet metal. I've been meaning to try stamping on metal so this challenge was just the perfect opportunity to give it a go!

So two favourite stamps have been matched with one of my favourite paper packs at the moment which is the Material Girl from Cosmic Cricket and the little bow was made with my Bow Easy Template.

TGF Royal Battle News - Week 3

Something a little different from me today and something a little out of my comfort zone LOL!

The Quixotic Stampers (Elaine, Emma, Rowena and me) are through to round 3 of the TGF Royal Battle thanks to Emma and your wonderful votes :) Thank you all for your support.

Well, this week the challenge is a Scrapbook page and it fell to me to have a go! Oh Boy! Not something I do a lot of as you know!

I borrowed the lovely photograph from Elaine for this layout and matched it with paper from October Afternoon and stamps from The Greeting Farm.

I stamped out the clouds and then masked them and sponged on some pearlescent ink. Then I stamped the balloon and paper pieced it. The lettering was printed and then I doodled on them.

I love mixing fabric and paper and the flowers are made from fabric and I've added a bit of stitching to the layout as well :)
I would love you forever if you could cast your vote on my make by commenting in TGF forum and help the Quixotic Stampers to get through to the next round, I would hate to be the one that lets the girls down!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
xxx

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 19

Hey Guys, have you seen this week's challenge over at Quixotic Paperie? Oh boy have we got a fun one for you this week. This week it is a:

CASE One Of The QP DT

The idea is that you CASE a card (i.e. use one of the DT Member's design and layout) or do 'In The Style Of...' one of the DT members. Don't forget to link to the card or person you are CASEing.

Well here is my CASEd card and I've CASEd this card from the fabulous Rowena Barnard. I've used the My Mind's Eye Lil Robot papers and diecuts and Ro's gorgeous design but I've also done a bit in the style of Ro with inking the papers and the dark stitching :)

The ickle robot and the sentiment is a die cut from the kit and they are just so fab, I love them to bits!

I've used my Cuttlebug and embossing folders to add some texture to the image background and to a strip of card covered with kitchen foil. The chipboard cogs were painted with acrylic paint and inked with greys and silvers.

Hope you are having a lovely long weekend

If you have a few moments you might want to check out the Clearance Section in Quixotic Paperie there are lots of fab bargains to be had! Perfect Easter Treat!

Anyone For Unity Cake?

Bank holiday Friday deserves some cake don't you think?

This yummy cupcake selection is one of the fabulous stamps from the Adventures In Happiness Unity Store kits and is available from Emily over at Make The Day Special a long with a lot of other hard to get in the UK stamps. If you scroll down there is a picture of the whole kit with all the lovely stamps you get!

So I've used a textured card for this make which has given a lovely mottled effect to the colouring.

So this is a piccy of the kit! Thought I would tempt you all with a picture of the actual rubber rather than the usual image picture I show you!

This is a huge kit! The whole thing is 8.5 x 11 inches (21 x 27cm) and to give you an idea the Light House stamp on the top right measures approximately 3.25 x 1.25 inches (8 x 3.5 cm). The kit comes ready backed with an sponge mount and precut so that all you have to do is pop the stamps out and use them with an acrylic block. Sorted!

Thanks for popping by.
Hope you have a wonderful Cupcake Good Friday
Kim
