Oh bless me. I am, as my friends would say, being special :) I looked at the Papertake Challenge on Monday (yesterday) saw that it is had an Autumn theme and went off and made this card using the Tweet Kit from Designs by Krista and my favourite stamp at the moment which is from Whiff of Joy. Only to go back to the site and find that I was a week late and Autumn was last week's theme and this week there is a sketch - D'oh.
Materials:
Stamp - Whiff of Joy
Papers - Designs by Krista
Inks -VersaFine Black; Distress inks Walnut Stain
Other - Sepia finemarker; Cuttlebug and leaf dies

Spreading Sunshine
Some sunshine for you all with this card using the Papertake Weekly Sketch and Designs by Krista Southern Sunrise papers. Still hanging on to the Summer as best I can :)
The swirl was made by printing the flourish embellishment from Krista's kit onto inkjet acetate, cutting it out and layering on top of a paper flower fixing with the brad. I like the translucent affect you get :)
Materials:
Stamps - Stampin'Up; HOTP
Papers - Designs by Krista Southern Sunrise
Colouring - Watercolour pencils
Inks - Versafine Black; Versacolor blue and orange, distress inks weathered wood
Other - printable acetate; pearl brad

Kaboodle Doodle Excitement
There is some major excitement going on with Kaboodle Doodles. Not only has Andrea got new kits coming out but there is a new challenge blog starting this Sunday 24th August 2008.
The first challenge will be to make something with free papers available to download from the blog on Sunday - FREE PAPERS and I've been using them and they are fab!
There is also a chance to win some Kaboodle Doodles downloads at Papertake this week with one of Katharina fab sketches:

Beads On Cards
So here is a card for the wonderful sketch from Katharina on the Papertake Weekly Challenge blog this week. I decided to play around with beads on cards again partly inspired by the little beaded tassels on the card I made for the Whiff of Joy Guest Designer call and partly by my Mum who suggested I had a go at some bead embroidery on my cards.
I love the effect but oh boy do you need patience :) Even for this very simple beaded tasseled border on some organza ribbon. Even so I definitely think I will be doing more cards with beads in the future.
Materials:
Stamps - Hanglar and Stanglar; HOTP
Colouring - Promarkers
Ink pads - VersaFine Black and Sepia
Papers - Me & My Big Ideas
Other - Beads; Brown sparkle card stock; Organza ribbon; Invisible thread; Piercing wheel

Summer Birthdays
Hot Summer colours for this one. A birthday card for a summer birthday and also for a challenge here and there. This one uses inspiration from Cute Card Thursday which has a birthday theme, then there is the 'Hot' theme from Papertake Weekly and Tag You're It have a Tag in a pocket Theme. The weird thing is I had already decided on the design of this card with the Tag and pocket idea and then it pops up as the theme at Tag You're It. How spooky is that? :)
So the papers come from freebies from Papercraft essential, I've cut out all the flowers so that I could re-arrange them on the page. The stamp is Chef Hamish from Sugar Nellie coloured with watercolour pens. The sentiment is written in the flower using a white Sakura pen.

Card for boys
This card is made for a boy's birthday. It's funny but most of the babies I know, children of friends and family, are boys. So I seem to be making lots of cards for young boys - at the moment. I thought I would go bright primary colours for this one and add texture through embossing (by hand!) and using corrugated card collected from some packaging and painted with acrylics. Thought I would enter this card into the fab blog candy challenge on the Dies to Die For blog and also the fun challenge from Papertake Weekly :)
