Non-Traditional Christmas Colours

Another Christmas Card for you today and this one uses probably my favourite non-traditional colour combination of greys, black and gold.

The stamp is the cute Whiff Of Joy Quiet Santa and the glittery paper is from the DCWV All Dressed Up Paper Stack which you can get from Quixotic Paperie for half price at the moment.

I've coloured Santa with my PrismaColor pencils and Sansodor and used Shimmerz Paints Pixie Dust Blingz to sparkle Santa's fur trim.

The gold paper, flower and swirls have are from SEI papers and the swirls are flocked - doesn't show up too well in the picture I'm afraid.

Have a gold filled Tuesday
Kim

Ink - VersaFine Onyx black
Colouring - PrismaColor Pencils; Sansodor
Paper - SEI; DCWV

Whiff Of Joy Winter Stamp Kit

Me again - it is becoming a habit posting more than once in a day!

I just wanted to let you guys know that the Whiff Of Joy Winter Stamp Kit has gone on pre-order today and closes on the 23rd October.

Look at the sneak peak, now doesn't that just make you think of open log fires, mince pies in the oven, your favourite Christmas movie on the telly whilst decorating the Christmas tree?

I can't choose which is my all time fav Christmas movie it would have to be either the 1947 version of Miracle on 42nd Street, or the 1947 version of the Bishop's Wife, or the 1946 version of It's A Wonderful Life. These would be the films my Mum and I would watch whilst decorating the Christmas Tree in our house :)

What are your favourite Christmas Movies?

Get Your Lovely Apples

Hey everyone, hope that if you are lucky enough to be having a three day weekend that it is a fun one for you. At the moment my other half is scrapping glue and bits of wood off of the bathroom floor, I've had a bit of reprieve to post this card, good excuse I thought :)

Bank holiday weekends are for DIY aren't they? We got thrown out of Homebase yesterday, what we had not factored in was that they close at 4pm and we got there at 3.40pm D'oh.

The look of panic on our little faces as we heard the 'Choose, pay and get out NOW' over the tannoy at 3.45pm. So we went into Mission Impossible - bathroom floor mode and split up to get the stuff on our long list.

Having asked one of the staff where the sealant was I then got a lecture on the different types of sealant and, although very useful, all I could think was 'I haven't got time for this! Why did I pick the only person in Homebase who takes an interest in their job?'!

No-one else seemed that worried that the shop was closing, this is how non-DIY we are, we do not know the 'Way of the DIY shop' on a bank-hol, Sunday afternoon.

Anyway onto the card! The stamp is one of the lovely Summer collection from Whiff of Joy and is coloured in with distress inks and watercolour pencils. There is machine and hand-stitching on this card and the apples are drawn by me ('coz I don't have any apple stamps!).

The beautiful vintage gold metallic thread lace is from my wonderful friend Siri, who sent me a gorgeous ribbon and button RAK from her Grandmother's stash, they are so lovely that I want to use them for something special :) Siri is an interior designer and if you are looking for some ideas for your craft space have a look at her new venture.

To all you DIY-ers out there - we feel for ya brothers and sisters.

Materials:
Stamp - Whiff of Joy
Ink - Versafine Onyx black
Colouring - Ditress inks; Watercolour pencils
Papers - Basicgrey; K&Co
Usual Suspects - Paper trimmer; silicone glue; 3D-foam

Vintage Meets Modern

Spoiler alert for my Mum:
If you are my Mum then look away now :)
(this might be your Mother's day card!)
No peeking!

I've had a vintage look card rattling around in my head for a while now but couldn't seem to bring it into being. But then I saw the guest designer call and the sketch by Katharina over at Whiff Of Joy and this card was born!

Details: A vintage look with a modern twist using acetate. I've stamped onto the acetate with white ink and tamed the white with a little colour from chalk inks. Some resistance stamping with clear embossing and chalk inks in the corners. Then some paper distressing with files.

Some crumpling, inking and ironing for the butterfly.

Made a place to write (and hide any glue) on the inside.

Watercoloured the image using Tim Holtz distress inks and pearlescent inks.

It was great fun making this card :)

Materials:
Stamp - Whiff of Joy; HOTP

It Is Going To Be A Pink Christmas

The Christmas cards are coming along slowly.... I've made one or two - is it cheating to use leftovers from last year?

I'm loving distressing papers at the moment. I don't have a specialised tool such as the Tim Holtz widgit or the Heidi Swapp pacman (don't you think it looks just like a pink pacman?) but I do sew and my seam ripper does the trick and is a lot cheaper and easier to get hold of seeing as any haberdashery shop should have one.

The lovely stamped image is one of Alison Acton's lovely illustrations available from Whiff of Joy and was coloured using my Derwent colour pencils and sansodor to blend. Glitter glue finished the trim and silver metallic gel pen for the bell on the Cat's ribbon. The sentiment was also coloured with the pencils.

For the background I used a 4" by 4" piece of textured card cut into smaller pieces and coloured with the same pencils and blending technique as for the stamped image. The outside edge of the 4" by 4" was over-stamped with the HOTP swirl in silver. Finally each edge of the smaller pieces was distressed with the seam ripper.

Materials:
Stamp - Whiff of Joy; HOTP Sentiment
Ink - VersaMark; VersaColor Silver; VersaFine Onyx Black
Papers - Homemade
Colouring - Derwent Colour pencils; Sansodor; Inscribe Pastels
Equipment - Seam ripper; Cuttlebug; Cuttlebug snowflake emboss and die
Other - Foam pads; silicon glue; Stipple brush; Stickles Glitter Glue; Sliver Gel pen
