Glittery Heart Aperture Notelet

Time for a DT make and it is a DT make for Creative Expressions. Have you guys been keeping up to date with the rest of the DT makes this Month? Gorgeous as always. Well, here is a simple offering from me, I thought I would go notelet style!

Easy to make in batches to send to ALL of your Valentines - Tee Hee!

The stamp is from the Hearts Entwined stamp set. I've also used some Stickles and the colours behind the aperture are Ranger Adirondack Stream and Citrus.

So who are you sending Valentine's cards to?

Have fun.

Simple Sketchy Stamped Tag For Fiskars

I'm a little bit obsessed by contemporary sketchy looks at the moment so when I saw the stamp that comes with the Fiskars Continuous Stamping Wheel™ my brain went 'Ooo! That would look good just as it is with a touch of bright watercolour - clean and simple!'

You can see how I made this one if you pop on over to the Fiskettes blog

have some sketchy fun!

Waving At The New Creative Expressions Team

I mentioned a while back that I had other DT news well I'm back on the Creative Expressions team and here is my first post in the new Creative Expressions team for 2012/2013 period. But before we get started I thought I would do a big wave to all the new guys and also to my 2011/2012 Creative Expressions teamie Tracy Evans.

*Wave*

I'm sure you probably know some of these fabulous gals already but go and say hello when you have a chance and checkout their gorgeous blogs. Whilst you are at it you might want to go checkout the Creative Expressions blog and their Facebook page too.

Right! So who is up for a make this Sunday?

The Creative Expressions team have got their first stamp kit and you might spot that we have different stamp kits, so lots of different makes to checkout and get you making!

I'm working from the Tim Holtz by Stampers Anonymous – Christmas Time kit and I thought I would go a bit mixed media elements but in a clean and simple design for my first make.

The poinsettia was stamped onto a gesso treated collage book page. I used a brush to apply Ranger Distress inks on the stamp before stamping, then use the brush to pullout the colour on the stamped image to make it pop more.

Of course if you have the Distress Markers you can use those directly on the stamp but I don't have any so I used a brush to apply the ink instead and it works just fine!

Hope you enjoy your Sunday hop around the blogs and I will catch all later.

Kind Hearts And Go-To Shapes

Hearts are one of my favourite motifs, it is my Go-To shape, I return to them again and again in my art. There is something about the shape and form of the heart symbol that works so well in so many compositions. Then you have all the different emotions that the heart symbol embodies and can give to a piece.

I have a random heart to show today, it was an unplanned, growing with the moment, card I made in my Kuretake demo a few weeks ago.

It is random in that I had no idea for the final look for the card, which is unusual for me, I often spend a little bit of time sketching out my ideas before starting. I knew that I wanted to demonstrate some watercolour washes using the ZIG Art and Grapic Twin Watercolour Pens and the ZIG Watercolour System BrusH2Os.

So I freeform created this little Clean and Simple Card with the details added in with a ZIG Writer pen and my Go-To shape a little heart.

Do you have a Go-To shape? Something you use in your art, that you revisit many times?

I have another demo this weekend, this one is in the Basildon Hobbycraft, Saturday 15th September from 10am to 4pm, hope to see you there for some random creating from my heart!

Being Yourself

The thing about Bank Holiday weekends is that the following week is shorter - which is good right? Of course it is! But it does mean that I'm thinking it is Wednesday when actually it is Thursday. Am I the only one? You guys can back me on this right?

As it is Thursday and I haven't posted since Monday I thought I would drop in and post a very quick make from my Kuretake demo last weekend.

I've used the ZIG Art and Graphic Twin Watercolour markers for this one, I did a subtle background watercolour wash using a ZIG Watercolour System BrusH20 and then added the splatter effect by flicking the brush tip of the markers onto the card.

The sentiment is one to try and live by isn't it? It comes from one of the SCACD Susana Loves Oddly Sweet Monster stamps - Monster Success.

Right, I need to get some more projects finished before Thursday turns into Friday.

Have a monster Thursday.

More Elegance With Gala Event From Creative Expressions And A DT Call

Before I show you my Creative Expressions make this week I have some exciting news that I think you might be interested in. I can't quite believe it but it has been a year since, myself and the other current members of the Creative Expressions team - the lovely Gabrielle Price, Tracy Evans, Sue Law and Hazel Harler (who I've met in real life and everything!) - started, yep a whole year!

Well you will be excited to know that Creative Expressions has just announced it's DT call for the next DT term, to find out how to enter then pop on other to the Creative Expressions blog for all the details.

My make this week has a simple elegance theme with this month's stamp set from Creative Expressions. It is one of the dresses from the Gala Event stamp set and I've kept it simple again to really show off the dress.

Unfortunately I don't think the camera has quite caught the silver metallic sheen that I've given the dress, it really sparkles as it catches the light in real life.

Have a close look at the image to see the texture in the stamping, you might want to open the picture up into a new window.

You can spot more lovely dresses from this kit with the DT makes if you pop over to the Creative Expressions Facebook page.

Fiskarettes Blog Hop And Some Guest DT News

Welcome to the Fiskarettes blog hop with prizes and inspiration!

For the next couple of months I'm going to be guesting over at Fiskarettes and showing my Fiskars makes here on my blog. So today I'm joining the new DT and Fiskarettes players in an introductory blog hop and I hope that you will join us too.

So let's get Fiskar-etting! I've got a colourful tag using cutters and stamps from Fiskars to show...

First I cut the tag using the Fiskars Bypass Guillotine 22 cm - A5 which is one of my favourite tools, by the way, and I use it everyday.

Then the aperture was cut using the Fiskars Everywhere Window Punch - Frame, and backed with designer paper.

The flowers and leaves were stamped out in pink, orange and green using the Fiskars Clear Stamps - Country Flowers stamp set. I added a sketched border with black pen and the sentiment was stamped out with the Fiskars Clear Stamps - Lower, Uppercase and Numbers

So to the Prize...
A digi-stamp from Tracey Grundy and a Border punch from Fiskars.

And how to get it...
All you have to do is complete the blog hop, leaving comments along the way, following if you like what you see and picking up part of a question from each blog. Put the question together, answer it and send the answer to (contact@fiskarettes.co.uk) don't put it in your blog comments.

My part of the question...
'UK Website?'

All In The Illustration

I love experimenting as you know and I love trying my hand to different things, again this won't be too much of a shock to those of you who regularly pop by my blog.

Well today I have one of my own illustrations to show. I've been doing a lot of work with watercolours and I just love how watercolour effects look with a clean black line so I thought I would try making a little birthday card using this look.

The watercolours I've used are the ZIG Art and Graphic twin Pens and the illustration and sentiment were drawn with the ZIG Writer pen.

I applied the colour with the ZIG Water Colour system WaterbrusH20 which is a valved waterbrush and I would not be without them!

Hope you like the look.

Catch you later chicks!

It is a Clean and Simple mixed media make using paint and ink onto kraft.

The sentiment comes with the larger of the two kits.

A Little Message

Yay! A make! I know you all loved my picture of the M6 yesterday, but never fear there are no photographs of major roads in the UK on my blog today. I have same one layer stamping instead. Sorry transport fans!

I've used the Creative Expressions Vintage Typewriter stamp set to build up this image.

You know if you missed the picture of the M6 I do have more, all you need to do is ask and I could probably fill the blog with them for a couple of weeks!

Have a fun filled Friday!

Playing With Grey

A bunch of flowers for you all today and this is my DT make for Make The Day Special. The flowers are from the Flourishes range of beautiful stamps these ones are the Zinnia Kit.

I've fallen in love with colouring with greys, you can get all sorts of effects with greys, they are so useful. I used a bit of watercolouring with the ZIG Art and Graphic Twin Pens to colour
this make.

The pop of yellow really jumps at you doesn't it?

The lovely sentiment is also from the Flourishes Zinnia kit.

Hope you have a day touched with kindness.

Buzz Buzz Buzz

Buzzy Buzzy Buzz, the last sounds of Summer buzzing on by, well actually there are no sounds of Summer as the wind and rain pelts against my window! Well let us just pretend that it is still Summer shall we?

I have my Summery DT make for Make The Day Special this week. I've used one of the new stamp sets from Paper Smooches, have you seen them yet? Very cute, this set is called 'Giddy Bugs'.

I stamped the sentiment, also from the kit, and coloured the image with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens from Kuretake which you can get from Make The Day Special. There is a little touch of glitter on the wings.

Right well I need to buzz off now.
Hope you all have a good Tuesday.
