Free Stitching On Paper Class

Hi all, I do hope you have been following the lovely Clair Rigby with her stitching event this month over at her gorgeous blog Obstinate Pursuit?

Clair is running a free class called Stitching On Paper with new up-dates every weekend in August and some fabulous guest designers too. It has been very inspiring and well worth checking out. If you have missed the introduction and how to join in you can still check it out over at her blog with the downloads on Scribd.

So far she has spilled the beans on inspiration from hand stitching, machine stitching, embroidery and stamping.

This week she is sharing the low down on using inspiration from quilting and cross-stitch in your papercrafts.

You will find a little quilty card from me which is actually one of my favourite makes this year and all down to being inspired by Clair and her great class prompts so I hope you have fun with your own stitchery for the class.

Catch you later

Minimalistic Inky

You know how you can sometimes get a bit of a creative bee in your bonnet? You know it is when you have an idea and it just sticks around until you do something with it? I've had one of those persistent creative urges that has resulted in the make I am showing today.

But first let me share with you where this one was sparked from. A few weeks ago I re-pinned this wonderful journal page from Bridgette Guerzon Mills into one of my Pinterest inspiration boards and when I saw the new Creative Expressions DT stamp set this month something went 'bong!' and I thought that would be that, creative urge satiated.

Nope, it wasn't I still need to do some white, black and inky something so here it is...

The background is an old book page on watercolour paper and covered roughly with white paint.

The heart is alcohol inks in acetate and I've stitched it onto the make and added extra stitching in the top left to balance the make and for the sentiment.

The circles and borders are done with a dip pen and ink.

One of my favourite things at the moment.

So have no idea where this idea might go next, but perhaps I've worked it out of my system?

Catch you later art-inators!

If I Had Wings From Creative Expressions

I'm having a bit of a blog re-shuffle again, Thursday is now my new Creative Expressions posting day so here is another make using Sam Poole's Art Sayings stamp plate available from Creative Expressions.

For this one I've used the Art Sayings stamp plate to create the background by stamping over a surface that I've first textured with old sewing pattern tissue and then stippled on some acrylic paint in areas and added some gesso over the top to create this lovely textured look.

The sentiment is also from the Art Sayings stamp plate and I think it nicely matches her wistful look don't you think?

If you are wondering about the image it is from one of my catalogue of images and ephemera that I've been unable to throw out collecting slowly over the years, she is one of my favourites.

I was inspired by this month's Ranger's Video except I tinted my photo in Photoshop Elements as I wanted to keep the details and I've actually used Archival ink to stamp the Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 The Voice Of Art receipt stamp onto the photo but I did use Ranger Distress inks on the edges and on the whole tag to finish it.

I've also used some of the new Vintaj Patina and some acrylic paint on the metal photo tabs and the eyelet to change their colour and distress them.

Hope you have survived all the photos, I did go a bit photo heavy today!

Have a lovely Thursday.

Kim

EDIT: Ok so this is how behind I am on my blog hopping, I did not realise that the photo tinting video was part of Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2012 theme as I came across it on the Ranger's website and not his blog. Well what the heck, I'm going to enter my make into the June challenge, it isn't exactly the same but it is inspired by the same technique - hope I've not broken any rules LOL!

Art Sayings From The Heart

How are you getting on with your creative wish list this weekend? As usual I haven't really got very far with my wish list at all, well the time just disappears doesn't it? But we did manage to go for that walk I talked about and I've finished this week's Creative Expressions make with Sam Poole's Art Sayings stamp set.

As you know I decided not to cut up the stamp plate and I've used it as a background stamp again in this mixed media card with extra added stitchery.

The colour this week is from Ranger Alcohol Inks and I've used some of my rusted fabric and the Wendy Vecchi Studio490 Clearly For Art Modelling film for the heart, with some extra added lace trim.

Adding a little bit of stamping with the crackle stamp from the Texture Plate set. With some ordinary brown wrapping paper and corrugated card and some extra added white paint.

Lots of extra added mess-ery!

Have an extra fun messy Sunday and don't forget to check out the new Creative Expressions Blog whilst you are hopping about today.

The Butterlies Set 1 Die was used on some Sewing Pattern collage pieces and swiped with gesso and shaped.

The Filigree Corner die shapes where also from Sewing Pattern collage and touched with a spot of gesso, with little scrim roses and Sewing Pattern collage leaves to decorate the corner.

The sentiment also uses some Sewing Pattern Collage pieces (bit of a theme in this work as you can see) and some long stitch details.

Fly With Me

Hey up Tuesday blog hoppers how you all doing? Do you remember the quick peek of a demo sample I was in the middle of making that I showed you on Thursday? Well I have another sample to show today, this time it is a complete project and not just a peek!

It's a Basically Bare hanger with a bit of a steampunk theme.

I've used the Bare Basics Gears set and run them through my Cuttlebug in an embossing folder and painted with acrylic paints.

The hot air balloon is from the Up Up and Away Basically Bare set and I treated the canvas balloon with a bit of ZIG Fabricolor twin colour through a mask and then stamped with Archival and added some stitching.

So lots of textures to play with! All the Basically Bare items are available from the Kuretake Shop btw.

I have some other samples to show at a later date but before I go I just wanted to let you know about my new article in the latest issue of Papercraft Essentials PE81.

It's the Kiss stamping masterclass and I've used Hero Arts stamps for this one, hope you like it!

Thanks for popping by and have a fun Tuesday!

Kim

Edit: I'm linking this up to Brenda's blog Bumblebees and Butterflies for Tuesday Treasures, don't forget to pop over and checkout the links and Brenda's lovely stamped purse.

Inspiration Monday - {All Wired Up}

I'm particularly wired today, well actually my project is wired not me personally! We have a new inspiration theme at La-La Land Crafts this week - you guessed it - All Wire Up!

It is all about adding wire, or chains, to your makes. So I thought about it for a bit. I knew I wanted to add wire to my flowers, and I was thinking circle flowers - I do have a love of circle flowers. But I wanted to do a bit of stitchery so here is what I came up with this week...

Some Embroidery Hoop art using one of the gorgeous new release La-La Land Crafts stamps - Watercan Marci.

Cute isn't she? I'm a big fan of Hoop Art as you can see from my Hoop Art Pinterest board.

The flowers and leaves are made from my other obsession at the moment - Washi Tape.

The sentiment is from the Marci With Lantern set.

Don't forget to pop on over to the La-La Land Crafts blog to check out the other DT members' Wire makes today and on Friday and link up your La-La Land Crafts makes to the Gallery to be in with a chance to win.

Ok I'll see you later crafty alligators.

Mini Tag Ads Saturday

As promised here is my Creative Expressions DT make for the week and my last make using the Wendy Vecchi Stufio 490 The Voice of Art stamp set before the DT move onto next month's stamp set - you will have to wait to see what it is!

This week I've gone with a mini tag using the receipt stamp, advert stamp and part of one of the sentiment stamps from The Voice Of Art set.

I've used Ranger Tim Holtz distress inks to distress the piece and Ranger Adirondack Alcohol inks to colour the metal. The advert is stamped with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens.

With a bit of doily and some stitchery to add texture.

Thanks for dropping by and have a nice Saturday.

Signed Sealed Delivered

Ready for the weekend? It isn't just any old weekend...it is The Big Stamp and Scrapbook Show (BSSB) weekend! I get excited about this show because it is in my home town of London! YAY! But I'm not sure I'm going to make it as I have my demo in Staines tomorrow and other commitments on Sunday - but hey ho...saving money by not going I suppose *sulk*.

For those of you who are going have a fabulous time and go pop in on the Creative Expressions stand whilst you are there, they are usually the large stand at the back of the room and have lots of demos going on.

Meanwhile I have my Creative Expressions DT make for you. The DT are still using this month's stamp set Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 The Voice Of Art Stamp Set.

I've used the lady from the stamp set as my focal point in my last two makes (this ATC and this tongue-in-cheek card) so I thought I would just use a sentiment and the great ledger stamp this week.

The colour is from the Ranger Tim Holtz Distress inks refills mostly. I only have two, the Spun Sugar and Tumbled glass but they happen to be my favourite colour combo (probably why they are in my stash). Any extra colour you spot was provided by my ZIG Art and Graphic pens.

Right, I shall leave you to your blog hopping.

Have a lovely Friday you all.

Kim
