Free Project With Papercraft Essentials 145

Birthday Flower card by Kim Dellow for Papercraft Essentials Issue 145

Are you looking for a project to do this this week? Or perhaps it is a Bank Holiday where you are so you have a beautiful Monday to fill with some creativity? If so then I've got a project step by step over on the Papercraft Magazines website that you might find interesting.

It is an extra project for the DIY Create Your Own Foam Stamps article that I wrote for Papercraft Essentials issue 145. Have you got a copy yet? If you haven't then you might want to pick up a copy, just look at the amazing free cover gift. So cute! It was designed by Vicky Welsby and it is adorable, I'm really looking forward to getting some time to play with them.

[There are some affiliate links in this blog post, so if you buy through them I do get a small amount of money at no extra cost to yourself. Thanks for your support!]

If you do have a copy do let me know if you have used the cover gift set yet or if you have been inspired by my article, either way I would love to hear and see your projects.

Enjoy your Monday and if you are having some Bank Holiday fun then I hope you have a lovely creative day!

Papercraft Essentials Thursday!

Wahoo! Look at me with my issue of Papercraft Essentials before it went on sale! Yay!

Ok so I woke up this morning super-pumped and motivated, so I'm sorry if I get too over excited! But I am excited 'coz issue 121 of Papercraft Essentials is in the shops today and I've already got my issue so I can share with you one of my favourite projects so far this year.

Wot Kim? Another favourite project? I know, I say it a lot but it is true.

So this is the issue that I'm talking about...

Papercraft Essentials Issue 121

You can find it in your newsagents, supermarkets or online and this month I've expanded on my Get The Look - Gold blog series from February and March into some Gold-A-Licious greeting cards.

Ok, I warned you I was over-excited today, if the making up of words isn't warning enough.

I'm sure that coffee was decaf...

If you want some more Gold in your life then check out some of these posts for some inspiration...

New Mags Monday - Papercraft Essentials 107

Time for a quick shout-out with the Papercraft Essentials issue 107, which hit the shelves last week.

I've not seen the magazine yet, but there should be a bit of an interactive card making article from me (you can see it at the bottom of the cover) and a fun embossed jigsaw card too. But if you are a Lavina Stamps fan you are gonna want to get this one, the cover gift this month is a set of cute Lavina stamps! I love the mushrooms!

Give me a shout if you have seen the magazine already I would love to hear what you think.

Right, I better get on, I need to work on some articles, so I shall see you all later.

Thanks for popping in.

New Mag Monday - Get Stamping, Papercraft Essentials, Creative cardmaking

New Mag Monday! That sounds quite catchy doesn't it?

There are some new magazines in the shops so I thought I would do my shout out for them. I haven't seen them yet so I've got something to look forward too! Tee Hee! That is my tea breaks sorted when I get my crafty hands on them.

First up is the new Papercraft Essentials Issue 106.

This month I got a chance to play with making backgrounds and I've also used some of the Creative Expressions Stamps for this one, lots of pretty flowers for Spring with the Umount Posy Floral 1 stamp set.

Then there is the new issue of Creative Cardmaking, Issue 66.

I can't wait to get a peek at this one as I made some off the page gifts for men and I'm excited to seeing how they look in the magazine!

The final shout out is tinged with much unhappiness. It is for Get Stamping issue 8 and from what I've heard it will be the last issue.

Such a shame! I'm gutted! I really loved this magazine and its fab cover stamps. For me it had such a great range of different projects, not just cards but scrapbooking, home decor, and journal keeping all in one place and lots of lovely design work from the designers, so it is really sad it won't continue. You can still find some back issues, and the new issue of course, over on the MoreMags website so go enjoy it whilst you can.

But on a happy note Those two main cards on the cover are mine. *Yay* between the *sad face* looks!

Hope you enjoy your reads this week.

Catch you later.

Some Weekend Reading - Digital Crafting Essentials, Simply Cards & Papercraft, Creative Cardmaking and Papercraft Essentials

Ok, so I confess, I've dropped a bit behind with my magazine shout outs, so some of these mags have been out for a few weeks now so you might need to move fast if you haven't got them already and you want them.

The first shout out is for Simply Cards and Papercraft 121 which has been out since the beginning of March, I know, my bad!

I was super excited when I realised that the purple card on the front was actually mine LOL! I can be a bit slow sometimes and I thought 'that looks familiar!' Oh bless. I've been making patterns with the lovely Waltzingmouse stamps.

I've been making some digital papers and stamps again and you will find them on the free CDs with the magazine. Hope you like them.

Next up it is Creative Cardmaking 65

and some cute Easter makes using paper and die cuts to make cute bunnies and chicks.

Last but not least there is the new issue of Papercraft Essentials, issue 105, and this one came out only last week so I'm back up-to-date - phew!

You get some lovely Core'dinations card with this one so have fun with it!

Ok, so lots of weekend reading, yay for the weekend!

Have a fun Friday.

Art Journal Sharing Thursday

It's my favourite post of the week, time for a bit of Art Journal Sharing Thursday.

My Art Journal Share this week is all about another habit that I'm trying to turn into a regular thing and that is sketching. I've shared a couple of sketches here on my blog in the past, but I would say that I'm not a confident sketcher, I'm trying to change that with regular practice.

I'm trying to do a sketch a day in one of my handmade books and a managed in January but it has got a bit spotty in February, naughty girl!

I must say that I really enjoy it, particularly if it turns out even the slightest bit decent!

If you happened to have had a copy of Issue 91 Papercraft Essentials from February/ March last year you might recognise the sketch above. I made two Easter-themed altered sardine tins for that issue and this was one of them. I sketched it in January this year for a bit of fun.

Finally this one is a sketch of a mini-stapler, just in case you weren't sure!

Are you a sketcher? Do you keep a sketch book as one of your art journals? I would love to see it so do leave a link if you have posted about it on your blog.

Thanks for popping by and sharing on Art Journal Sharing Thursday.

Some Weekend Reading - Creative Cardmaking, Papercraft Essentials And Get Stamping

Ok so it is a bumper read-a-thon this weekend! I'm looking forward to reading...

Which is very pretty in pink this month! I went to the circus with my makes for kids in this issue. They are very bright and all you need to make them is some coloured card and maybe a few dies or punches. Hope you like clowns - they are cute ones, not scary - honest guv!

Next there is Papercraft Essentials 104...

I was lucky enough to have a chance to play with the lovely embossing folder and stamp set gift on the cover this month, looking forward to hearing how you get on with them too. I also have some ideas for getting the most our of your dies in this month, dies are soooo popular right now.

Then last but not least is Get Stamping 7

I know Shirley will be pleased :) The stamps are Asian-Themed this month and I made full cover girl *Beam*! It is always such a thrill to make the main project on the cover. So I was let loose with a Blue Willow Pattern theme, you know, as in the the blue and white ceramic kitchenware designs that were first made popular in the 18th Century.

I do love a bit of ceramic, I mean don't get me started on bowls, I LOVE bowls! Oh dear, that is another obsessions out of the bag, I might as well call this blog 'Kim and her Weird Obsessions'!

Right, I better be off so that I can finish what I need to do today to leave room for all the reading.

Magazine Time!

It is magazine time and here is what I will be reading this weekend...

Well first is some catch-up reading with issue 119 of Simply Cards and Papercraft which came out in the first week of January. I know! I am so behind!

Did you spot that this issue comes with a score board this month? Oooo, will have to give that a try! There are some chevron makes from me this month and you all know that it is one of my favourite shapes.

More reading with me tea this weekend and that is issue 103 of Papercraft Essentials.

This month Lee Campbell, editor of Papercraft Essentials, let me go a bit wild with corrugated cardstock! You know I love recycling corrugated card from packaging, I mean just look at my blog banner. But for this article I thought I would go less distressed and more bold and bright and bought in a pack of different coloured corrugated cardstock for a different look. Of course some packaging did sneak in as well!

So I think that brings me all up-to-date with my magazine reading! Hope you enjoy them too. But before I treat myself to my feet-up, tea and read I must get some DT projects photographed and blogged.

Catch you later!

Magazine Time

I am officially on holiday! YAY! I've just got one more make and one more blog post to do then it is mince pies, mulled wine and jingle all the way. I have my reading all lined up and there are two new magazines out that are on the list:

Get Stamping 6 is out with a lovely nature-inspired stamp set.

I have some cards using silhouette stamping in this month. But make sure you checkout the project life article from Stéphanie de Geus (the editor) and Klair Rhomany Scattergood's Art Journaling 101 also caught my eye as I had a quick flick through, to name just a couple of the inspiring articles, there are loads more to your pique interest.

The new issue of Papercraft Essentials, issue 102, is also out.

This year's winner of the Papercrafter of the Year competition is announced and you can find out who won, plus there is inspiration abound from all the DT. So many fabulous makes so I hope that you all enjoy reading through.  Liz McGuire has a really lovely colourful colouring tutorial, bright and beautiful. Tracy Evans has a fab article too with glitter paste and I love the look of Kirsty Maluga's cheerful makes, pretty.

My article this month is the second part to my Lettering article and I have DIY chalkboards, cutouts and subway art tips to share with you all so hope you like them.

Hope you enjoy reading through this months mags.

Magazine Time And A Last Call For The Creative Expressions Giveaway

Friday is with us again and I have a magazine shout out for you all.

But before I do the shouting I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for all the congratulations messages you have sent me about the news of my recent winning of the Cox & Kings Art competition. You are all really sweet and I'm so grateful for all your lovely words.

So on with the shout out! If you are looking for some weekend reading checkout issue 101 of Papercraft Essentials.

It is full of lovely inspiration as always and the keen eyed of you will already have spotted the amazing colouring talent of Elaine Hughes on the front cover! You will also find a gorgeously inky masterclass from Tracy Evans. Just naming a couple of the amazing folks who are in this month, there are tons more.

On my part I'm trying to get us all out of our fear of writing our own sentiments (please don't tell me I'm the only one that has that fear?!) and using our own lettering more in our makes - hope you like it!

Before you hop away you won't forget to sign your name up for the Creative Expressions giveaway will you? It closes a 5pm tonight so click the picture below to go straight to the post and add you comment.

Have a lovely Friday.
