I have a new tutorial up on the Blitsy blog at the moment and this week I've been playing with some Prima Marketing products and making a textured art journal page with a neutrals colour scheme.
[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]
Well I say art journal page but I can see this design lending itself well to cards or if you added a photograph then it would make a lovely scrapbook page. Put it on a canvas and you would have some home decor for a wall. So it really is one of those multi-usable designs if you know what I mean?! The background colour is a mix of the Prima Marketing watercolours and some Tim Holtz Distress inks and I've added in a little bit of acrylic paint in there too.
This is not my usual type of colour scheme as I am drawn to brights and jewel colours normally, but it is fun to mix it up a bit from time to time isn't it? There is also some die-cuts and stamping thrown into the mix as well as some stencilling and a resist. Oh and did I mention the crumpled up old book page? Mmm I think that's everything covered but you can see all of the details and the steps over on my 'How To Make A Textured Art Journal Page' on the Blitsy blog.

SCACD And Quixotic Paperie - The Blank Canvas Collection Blog Hop
I'm so excited to be part of this new release blog hop party to showcase the stunning new stamps and dies from SCACD. You guys know I love a bit of mixed media so playing with the Susana Loves Stamps new Mixed Media range of stamps was a pure pleasure - I think you are going to like these!
The whole collection is called The Blank Canvas Collection and lends itself perfectly to all sorts of Art and Craft needs from journalling to doodling, from cards to altering, ok so you get the inspiration for this new release!
I've used the the fab steampunk clock from the Rays and Clock set for this make, I've called it 'Remember Today'.
I've stamped it onto acetate and used alcohol inks and white paint to colour the image.
The papers are from the Prima Almanac 6x6 paper pad but I've added a bit of colour through a mask to add details.
If you pop to the Quixtoic Paperie shop you can see all the new stamps and new dies.
(For my US and Canadian readers, the new stamps and die collection are available direct from Susana's Custom Art & Card Design.)
You will be seeing a lot more of these from me over the next few weeks but in the meantime don't forget to hop on through the list below to check out all the other new items from the range.
Kim Dellow (That's Me!)

La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday - {Hey Girlfriend}
Hey Girlfriends and Boyfriends, you see a lot of La-La Land Crafts cute little Lukas and Marcis here on my blog for my La-La Land Crafts DT makes but did you realise there are the Girlfriend range as well? If you have seen my article in issue 75 of Papercraft Essentials that came out around December last year then you will have been introduced to Ally and Jesalyn already.
But if you haven't here is Ally...
She is elegant and sophisticated - the complete opposite to me! Tee Hee!
I've matched her up with Prima Marketing papers, the lovely Almanac paper pad, but I added a bit of red to the paper and some of the Stampendous Frantage Shabby White embossing enamel (I'm in love with the Stampendous Frantage range btw! Have you tried it?)
Before I go I wanted to share something else that I'm really excited about at the moment...
Oh yeah you heard me right! Irina and Eric have been designing their own dies to add to the La-La Land Crafts range and they are BEAUTIFUL! But you don't have to take my word for it, go take a look yourself!
OMG did you see that Eiffel tower? And that Dress form? And the butterflies? And the...yep another thing I'm in love with *sigh*
If you want to learn more then pop on over to the La-La Land Crafts blogs for the release announcement and some tips on using the dies with the Cuttlebug.
Ok I'm out of here! Don't forget to go check out the other Girlfriends from the La-La Land Crafts team today and on Friday on the blog.
If it is a Bank Holiday where you are - enjoy! If not then what are you doing reading this? Get on and do some work - slacker! (Ok I didn't mean that...read this, read this!)

Ticket To Fly
Hey all, how are you doing with your mid-week creating? Having fun? what have you been up to? I've been doing a lot of tearing and sticking, preparing some journal page backgrounds for painting. So thought I would continue the tearing theme with this little mixed media card.
I've used the Prima Marketing Almanac papers for this card today, in fact every thing is Prima today!
The bird is a rub on from the Prima Tea and Silk collection and I've rubbed her onto card that I've coloured with Tim Holtz Ranger Distress stains first.
The flowers are the Homespun Bittles Prima Flower embellishments, I've been saving these for a special make, I just love the texture of them!
I used the lovely Prima cling mount Songbirds stamps to stamp out the foliage in black Stazon and Gold acrylic paint on acetate.
And then stamped out the tickets from the same kit to layer on the painted corrugated card with the strips from the Prima Almanac paper.
All a bit of layering fun!
Hope you are having a fabulous Wednesday.

Prima Meets The Quixotic Paperie Sketch Challenge
Hey Guys, have you played along with our first Sketch Challenge over at the Quixotic Paperie Blog yet? It's a great sketch from Mary and if you play along you could win a £15 gift token to spend in Quixotic Paperie or see your work on the blog.
Well here is my take on the sketch, I've used paper from the Prima Marketing Alla Prima pack and the Prima Marketing Londonerry cling stamp set for this card.
The stamping uses the Archival Coffee ink pad.
A little bit of stitchery, a bit of tearing, some mulberry paper and embossing for this make.
If you want to see the sketch then pop on other to the Sketch Challenge post, there is more inspiration with this fabulous sketch here on the blog and on the design team's blogs (listed in the sidebar).
Have fun with the challenge and have a lovely Saturday.

Some Odd Girl Opulent Christmas Tag Tutorial
Hi everyone, here is a step by step I recently put together as part of the month long celebrations for Kristy's Birthday over at her blog The Odd Girl.
It is a special Christmas Tag using the Some Odd Girl Angel Kaylee.
You will need:
Papers - Prima Printery
Colouring - Prismacolor pencils
Inks - Versamark, Black
Usual Suspects - Scissors, Silicone glue
Equipment - Heat Gun, Crop-A-Dile, Paper distressor
Other - Ribbon, ZIG Embossing powder (Black Sparkle), Acrylic Paint (Gold), Sponge, ZIG Wink Of Stella Pen, Eyelet
Prepare your tag by cutting out several tag shapes to the size you want and make each tag slightly smaller than the one before. I used one of the '2011' labels in the Prima Printery paper pad but you could easily use a sentiment stamp or other cut-out. Also cut a small strip the width of the tag.
Stamp out the music in Versamark ink on your top tag layer, the smallest tag, and add the embossing powder, shake off excess and heat to melt the powder.
Distress the edges of all of the tag layers, sentiment and paper strip, I use a seam ripper for
this job.
this job.
Now all your layers are distressed start building up the tag by glueing each of the tag
layers in place. Add the gold acrylic paint to the distressed edges of all the papers using a sponge. I used some Cut n' Dry but you can easily use a make-up sponge for example.

Add the acrylic paint in lumpy blobs and smooth some of the blobs out to lightly add sparkle to the paper. Leave some of the blobs to dry to give a more bumpy opulent gold look to the tag. When the paint is dry tie the ribbon into a bow and the ribbon to the paper strip and stick it to the tag.
Stamp and cut out the 'Christmas' to stick to the '2011' cut-out and add a light touch of acrylic paint to the edges. Stick the sentiment to the tag.
Colour Angel Kaylee and add sparkle to her wings, hair and shoes with the ZIG Wink Of Stella pen and stick her to the tag to finish.
Hope you enjoyed this opulent little sparkly tag.
Don't forget to go take a look at all of Kristy's birthday celebrations!

Fun With Fabric And Octopode Factory
Ahh Saturday, which means it is my day on the Quixotic Paperie blog and I thought that for my DT piece this week I would get all a bit fabric-y with the fabulous Ocotopode Factory stamps, new into Quixotic Paperie, and some yummy Prima papers.
I've used Octopode Factory Alice from the Alice in Wonderland range and made her a little quilted.
I've used the Octopode Factory Small Button Flower and the papers I've transferred onto the fabric are from Prima.
I've also used EZ Mount and Ranger Archival Jet Black which are both available in the Quixotic Paperie shop.
The paperclip was from Paperchase, or perhaps WHSmith, you know I don't remember! I'm just a stationery hoarder.
I've also used a bit of black ZIG Fabricolor Twin pen on the make too.
This one just kinda made itself, I started with the idea of transferring the Prima papers onto fabric and wanting to make something with the Octopode Factory stamps and the rest just developed in front of my eyes LOL!
It was great fun to do!
Hope you all have a very creative Saturday.
Catch you later

Go With Your Heart
Hope you all had a good long weekend, did lots of fun relaxing and art making. I have my Make The Day Special project for this week and I went with a grungy, shabby chic tag using the Unity Itty Bitty and Authentique Co-branded stamp Go With Your Heart.
Such a pretty stamp. I've used the ZIG Black Sparkle Embossing Powder to emboss the stamp on top of an acetate panel treated with Eco-Green acrylic paint and ZIG Alcohol Inks which are also known as their Kurecolor Refill Inks.
The papers are from the Prima 6x6inch Printery paper pack (which I am totally in love with!) and then added some pearls to finish the piece.
Have you checked out some of the new stamps in the Make The Day Special shop? Here are some of them:

How To Make A Distressed, Vintage Style Card
Hi Guys, hope you enjoyed the new Natural Beauty Stamps illustrated by Carmen Medlin for SCACD blog hop yesterday. If you are interested here is how I made the card from yesterday's post.
Inspiration note: When I first saw this fabulous stamp the idea of making the image look a bit ethereal immediately jumped out at me. The layering of this delicate looking image onto a 'decayed' background grew whilst I was working on the image. The overall effect puts me in mind of Estella from Great Expectations for any of you Dickens lovers out there (more from the 1946 movie perhaps than the book).
Materials:
Stamp - Carmen Medlin SCACD Naturally Styled
Papers - Prima Melody; Kraft Card (make a card blank); Book page; Vellum or Tracing paper
Inks - Archival Jet Black; Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Inks Vintage Page
Colouring - Caran d'Ache
Usual Suspects - Glue; Double-sided tape
Tools - WRMK Sew-Easy; WRMK Sew Easy Piercing Mat; Brayer; Paint brush; Heat tool; Paper piercer
Other - Make It Crafty Lasercut chipboard Filigree Jewels; Calico Fabric; Thread; Gesso; Scotch tape; nail file; Perfect Pearls; Golden Gel Medium
Making The Image Background
I started by glueing a book page to a Kraft card support and brayered it down for a to get rid of any winkles then set it aside to dry.
I then covered the old book page with some diluted Gesso, dried it with the heat tool (too impatient to wait!) and added another layer of Gesso.
Stamp Out The Image
I then used Archival ink to stamp out the Carmen Medlin SCACD stamp onto the book page and on a piece of vellum, but I didn't have any vellum so I've actually used tracing paper. Allow the ink to dry then line up the two images and tear to the size you want the image to be on the card. Also tear the edges of the Kraft card blank.
TIP - Be very careful not to move the stamp on the vellum / tracing paper otherwise it will smear and smudge.
TIP 2 - When using unmounted rubber stamps use a little bit of glue stick to stick the back of the stamp to the acrylic block, you can use other products such as Tack n' Peel, or sticky sprays instead, but glue sticks like Pritt stick work just as well and wash off easily. I then use a foam mat under the item to be stamped to get a good image. Practice on spare paper first to find out how hard you need to press to get a clear image.
Colouring On Vellum / Tracing Paper
I then used coloured pencils to colour the stamped image on the tracing paper, pressing lightly and building up the colour in layers.
Distress The Designer Paper
Next might not be for everyone, I know many of you might feel it a bit of a crime to distress those lovely designer papers, but sometimes a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do! Don't judge me too harshly!
So a bit of paper distressing. First get those rips in the surface using Scotch tape, torn in thin strips, burnished onto the paper with my nail and pulled up, practice on a spare piece or in a place that won't show to see how hard you have to burnish and pull to get the effect you want.
I topped this off with some sandpaper distressing and then lightly inked with the Distress ink and added a touch of Perfect Pearls in some areas. Also use the Distress ink on the edge of the book page, Kraft Card blank and a small torn strip of spare book page.
Prep The Papers For Sewing
Using the WRMK Sew-Easy tool pierce some sewing holes in the small strip of spare book page. Tear a piece of fabric and layer them on the distressed designer paper and stitch them in place.
Stick the book page image to the designer paper with double-sided tape. Carefully line up the two stamped images and prick holes to stitch the image down.
Finish With Embellishments
I added a bit of Distress ink to the Make It Crafty lasercut chipboard then brushed with Perfect Pearls and used Golden Gel Medium to stick the embellishments down.
There you go, all distressed and vintage-fied!
Enjoy.
