New Papercraft Essentials Time

Hey Crafty Chaps, I've got a little heads-up for you with an article in the new issue of Papercraft Essentials issue 84.

It's only a small one from me this month with two cards but a great one for the kids if you are looking for cards to make on a rainy day with dried pasta.

I've also used some PanPastel and the ZIG Painty pens for this one.

What To Do On A Saturday

Looking back over this week I can't help but notice that it has been very wet. Well it has rained pretty much every day, but I'm not talking about the weather but about the inky watercolours I've been playing with this week. I've covered everything that I can get my hands on, including my hands, with inky watercolours and you can see some of the makes, so far, if you scroll down.

I think I needed a burst of colour and it certainly helped covering everything with hot pinks, oranges and yellows! I don't know about you but I've been feeling quite Autumnal and I'm trying hard to stay in Summer.

More inky-ness in this month's Papercraft Essentials issue 83 from me.

This month I've got an article all about Ranger Inkssentials Accents - Glossy, Matte, Enamel and Crackle with tips and some new ideas on how to use them. I got inky with alcohol inks and Distress Stains for this one. There is a teaser on the cover for you!

Ooo and if you want a little tutorial on making this metallic look:

then hop on other to the Kuretake Blog where I show you how I did it.

Well I hope you are staying dry but getting inky this Saturday.

Big inky kisses.

Catching Up With Some News

Hey Good Blog Hopping Folks, how are you all doing this Friday?

Looking forward to a creative weekend? Got any creative plans?

Most weekends are work days for me but seeing as my work is my passion it isn't so bad and I would probably be doing the same thing anyway! If I'm too long away from my desk I get a bit fidgety. I think it is the obsessive compulsive in me. So this weekend is unplanned at the moment and will probably involve working on commissions, perhaps some walking and maybe even a swim, we shall see. But a huge improvement on last weekend which was cleaning and scrubbing walls - dullsville!

Ok so my goals this creative weekend - other than working on commissions that is - would be to:

1. Do some journalling
2. Do some more sketching practising
3. I have some new art materials I want to get messy with
4. Plan some upcoming blog posts.

Yikes! Busy weekend again.

So spill - what are you up to?

If you get time I have an article on Design Theory in the current issue of Papercraft Essentials, Issue 82, that you might want to check out.

That is me...

It is a follow on article from the Colour Theory Masterclass I did for Papercraft Essentials issue 79, (which you might want to check out as well if you haven't seen it already).

In this issue I talk about some of the design principles and how to apply them to card making, but you can as easily apply them to whatever format you like. I have to say it is one of my favourite subjects and I'm always looking to improve my designing and train my designer's eye, I think that is one of the ways we all grow in our art and craft. So I hope that you enjoy the article.

Gosh I have wittered on today - most unusual for me!

Well before I leave you to your hopping I have a shout out for you. Nikky Hall of Polkadoodles has asked me to make some samples for her new Studio 12 range which is a digital hybrid range, good for papercrafting of all types. She has a DT call running at the moment and is looking for all sorts of makers but particularly folks not afraid to go in digi-art and mixed media directions, so if you are interested go check out the call on the new Studio 12 Blog.

Oh and a massive THANK YOU to everyone who commented on yesterday's post on my blog and on facebook, I was overwhelmed by the response! You guys are so lovely, we have a lovely crafty/ arty community that I'm so happy to be part of. Looks like I'm going to be showing more sketchy stuff in the future - eek!

Have an ultra-creative Friday.

Fly With Me

Hey up Tuesday blog hoppers how you all doing? Do you remember the quick peek of a demo sample I was in the middle of making that I showed you on Thursday? Well I have another sample to show today, this time it is a complete project and not just a peek!

It's a Basically Bare hanger with a bit of a steampunk theme.

I've used the Bare Basics Gears set and run them through my Cuttlebug in an embossing folder and painted with acrylic paints.

The hot air balloon is from the Up Up and Away Basically Bare set and I treated the canvas balloon with a bit of ZIG Fabricolor twin colour through a mask and then stamped with Archival and added some stitching.

So lots of textures to play with! All the Basically Bare items are available from the Kuretake Shop btw.

I have some other samples to show at a later date but before I go I just wanted to let you know about my new article in the latest issue of Papercraft Essentials PE81.

It's the Kiss stamping masterclass and I've used Hero Arts stamps for this one, hope you like it!

Thanks for popping by and have a fun Tuesday!

Kim

Edit: I'm linking this up to Brenda's blog Bumblebees and Butterflies for Tuesday Treasures, don't forget to pop over and checkout the links and Brenda's lovely stamped purse.

Pinch And Punch, First Of The Month!

Hello Sunshine, we can but wish - it is raining here but in my heart there is sunshine, even if it is dark and dreary outside.

Do you guys remember this make from a couple of weeks ago?...

Well the challenge is now up on the Kuretake blog and the prize is £50 to spend in the Kuretake shop which is full of yummy pens and Basically Bare products so you ain't gonna want to miss this one! Deadline to get your makes linked is the 11th May.

Talking about Basically Bare products you can see more of them in the current issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft Issue 97...

I'm in this issue too, I have a funky father's day article using the retro cute stamps from Paper Smooches - Perpetual Bliss and Bube Tubes - both available from Make The Day Special. You can spy one of my makes on the cover - the one with the retro tellies.

I've got an article in Creative Cardmaking issue 41 as well that might pique your interest if you want to know more about the ZIG Art and Graphic Twin Watercolour markers.

I've used the pens in all sorts of different ways so hopefully lots of food for creative thought in your craft!

Right, I suppose I better leave you to it! Another cup of tea me thinks and crack on with some commissions.
Hope your day is full of sunny creativity and thanks for popping in.

Happy Sunday

Just a quickie from me, popping in to say have a happy Sunday and if you get a chance check out this month's Papercraft Essentials - issue 80.

This month I have a La-La Land Crafts article but I'm particularly tickled pink with this one because all the cards are made with photos I've taken to make scene cards. Great fun to do - hope you like it and are inspired to get your cameras out!

Have a great Sunday

Doing A Happy Dance!

OMG! OMG! OMG! When I got my copy of this month's Papercraft Essentials I went a little potty! I've made full cover girl! YAY!

Look that is my make, the big one on the cover of issue 79 with the paper roses! It is an article about colour combining and using your colour wheel, hope that you find it useful, it was a really interesting one to do. I've used the cute The Cat's Pajamas stamps from Make The Day Special

Just about calming down from my happy dance!

I've got some links to some lovely makes to share with you. I'm sure I have mentioned before that one of my favourite things about what we do is how we inspire each other with our work and how a simple idea can grow and be transformed by each person who touches it.

So I wanted to share another fabulous sardine tin art make this time from my fellow Creative Expressions DT member the sardine hating Gabrielle - wonderful!

Then there is this gorgeous bit of grunging from Tanya, inspired from my recent grungy, rusty tag - fabulous!

Aren't they great?!

Well hope you enjoy the links and the article and the rest of your Saturday.

Catch you later.

Sunday Round-Up

It is Sunday Round-Up time and that seems particularly approriate this week as I am watching Toy Story 2 with Woody's Round-Up as I write this post!

Well to Round-Up this week I have a little card in Papercraft Essentials Issue 72 to 'toot' about but you might be extra excited about this issue - not 'coz of my card but because of the super cute Humphrey's Corner cover stamp set - so cute you won't want to miss it!

I also wanted to give you all a couple of heads-up for the week ahead, things you might be interested in checking out.

First off have you checked out the Kuretake Design Team call?

Second is the new My Mojo Monthly Muse and inspiration from Sarah is up and ready for you to play with! Have fun!

Last but not least don't forget the Art From The Heart Blog Hops!

Catch you later and have a super Sunday.

Sunday Round-Up

It has been a busy old crafty week this week, I've been pretty busy with cards for Creative Expressions and just as they finish I'll be doing some makes for Kuretake playing with their Alcohol inks and punches, not necessarily together! Then we have some fun coming up to celebrate La-La Land Crafts Birthday this month which you won't want to miss!

So another busy and creative week ahead! I'm hoping to fit in some personal makes as well this week, something a little different perhaps? I like to throw something different in the mix from time to time.

This Sunday I don't have any links to share with you I'm afraid but I do have a couple of Magazine articles to mention.

First up is a colourful two card article in Papercraft Essentials issue 71 using peel-offs as masks to make backgrounds.

The next article is me in my element tearing up cardboard and re-purposing book pages, maps, buttons and safety pins for Simply Cards and Papercraft Issue 88 and using stamps from Make The Day Special.

And look I'm on the cover - Yay!

It's been a lucky month for me as I have three articles in three different Magazines - Papercraft Essentials, Simply Cards and Papercraft and Craft Stamper - I think that might be a first (and probably a last!) for me. Perhaps I should buy a lottery ticket!

Oh and I lied! I do have a link for you and this one was spotted by my ever patient boyfriend David. Check out these nails you Superhero fans!

Sunday Round-Up

Ok so here we are, it's Sunday morning, I'm sat with a HUGE cup of tea in my left hand and typing badly with my right hand, I'm watching The Avengers: Earth's Mightest Heroes and I've just had breakfast of a Matzo with Marmite - Perfect Sunday Morning!

It has been a fabulously busy week I've been meeting up with crafty bloggy friends and meeting new crafty folks at various crafty events/ meetings. I've come to the conclusion that crafting events are like buses, you know, you wait around for ages and then four come along at the
same time.

I've also managed to sneak in a bit of making and I have some slightly different blog posts coming up that I hope you will enjoy!

So one of the bloggy folk I managed to meet this week was the lovely and talented Anika from Anikraft. She was holding her first market stall yesterday (some of you might have seen it mentioned it in my Friday post) and I wanted to go say 'Hi' as we hadn't met in real life yet and show some support 'coz us maker/ arty/ crafty folk should stick together!

Anika makes absolutely gorgeous things, I've always loved her work and they look even more fabulous in real life! I'll let you know when she does her next market stall but you can always go follower her to find out first hand and of course see her Folksy shop :)

And no, she hasn't got me on commission LOL!

I'm still trying to get my act together and gather up my courage to do a market stall! Maybe
one day.

I had some fabulous and surprising news on Friday morning, Irina (the owner of La-La Land Crafts) spotted this:

Yep, it is my recent article for Papercraft Essentials UK on the cover of the sister magazine published in Australia! Wahoo! I used lots of La-La Land Crafts stamps for an article on using different colouring mediums such as Prismacolor pencils, Copic markers, Kuretake ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens

I was well chuffed (translation: very pleased indeed) as I've not made the main cover piccy on the UK Papercraft Essentials yet LOL!

Ok so tea is drunk, Matzo is eaten, cartoons are watched and blog post is finished, better go do some work then!

Enjoy your Sunday.

Big Painty Kisses

Sunday Round-Up

Hi Diddly Ho Bloggers how is your Sunday going?

We are recovering here, taking it a bit easy after a fabulous afternoon playing with four very active small nephews yesterday, think that was our workout for the week! Not sure I have the energy for any crafting today so I'm just doing some catching up on tinternetty things, finding out what is trending on Twitter, reading those things made from paper - erm books that's what I think they call them. You know the sort of Sunday pursuits sort of thing?

Maybe even some blog hopping?

Talking of blog hopping if you are having a blog hopping Sunday you might want to add the fabulous The Glitter Chick Juls to your hop list if you haven't popped on over there already. You remember the clean and simple (CAS) card I posted on Tuesday? Well it hit a chord with Juls and she expanded the idea to two wonderful themed cards that are so cute - Love them!

So before I hop off, got a heads-up for you guys on the look out for your crafty magazines  Papercraft Essentials Issue 70 has a fun 5 Quick Tricks with Flock article from me.

Papercraft Essentials 70

I had a real hard think about this one and hope that you will be nicely surprised with some of the tricks and that they help kick start some different ways of using your flock! I will say no more but I hope you enjoy :)

Have a lovely Sunday.

Sunday Round-Up

This is a first for me, I can say this week 'As Seen On TV' and what a thrill! It was quite surreal seeing something that you have made on national TV!

For those of you who missed my Friday post, Steph from Kuretake was demoing lots of yummy ZIG pens on Create and Craft and the design team had made samples to go
with the pens.

I mean it is quite surreal seeing something you have made sitting on the cover of a magazine in the newsagents, when this first happened I wanted to stand in front of the magazine and go 'I did that!' to anyone who happened past. I suppressed the urge and put on a professional face, kept the jumping up and down for home!

So imagine, seeing your makes on TV - dude! Yep, I have taped it. Steph and Buffy had put together a fabulous couple of shows and it was great to see the pens in action.

(Sorry for the rather rubbish screen shots of some of the makes, but you get the idea)

Ok so I'm off the ceiling now and knuckling down to more work to keep me grounded!

Before I come completely down to earth I just thought I would share an article from the current Papercraft Essentials, issue 69. Got some fun Summer Party makes for you in this issue with a masterclass in both hand and machine stitching.

Lots of little projects, cards and tips in this one and some different stitching for you too! I've got some teasey teasers:

(btw the little box uses one of the Kuretake Gift box templates)

Just a little taster and I hope you like the article and find it useful! It was another article I loved putting together. But then I love doing them all.

Sunday Hopping:
Before I go I have some links that you might like to add to your Sunday hopping list. The first wonderful blog is that of Milla at Mustesormi

Milla makes gorgeous cards and papercraft projects and is another crafter after my own heart who loves her texture and making backgrounds. You should take a look at the wonderful make she has done with my recent sweet wrapper background tutorial - wow! Then there is the fabulous makes inspired by the collage background tutorial here and here. Love them!

The next fabby blog belongs to ManLe Hong of Pineapple Cove Designs and has a wonderful card made using my Sew Easy circle tutorial.

I don't know about you but I just love seeing all this creativity that everyone is up to!

Have a fabulously creative day.
