Simon Says - Let It Snow

More snowflakes today and this one is for the challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Challenges which is about 'Let It Snow'.

For today's card I have paper pieced the elegant Festive Winter Willow from Whiff Of Joy and layered her on a vellum background covered in glitter.

My rather dodgy photography doesn't show that her trim is given dimension with glossy accents and she has glitter on her holly berries.

I sat her on the Christmas present from the Whiff Of Joy Sled and added a little rosette with a Whiff Of Joy snowflake.

Have a snowflake day.
Kim

Materials:
Stamp - Festive Winter Willow, sled and snowflake from Whiff Of Joy
Ink - VersaFine Onyx Black
Colouring - PrismaColor pencils; Sansodor
Paper - K&Co
Usual Suspects - Paper trimmer; scissors; silicone glue; double sided tape

Inky Impressions Challenge 25

Morning all, I'm really excited to be able to show you my first DT make for Inky Impressions Challenge blog. The challenge for the next two weeks is all about -

Snowflakes

I've used Rachel's Gingerbread Christmas which if you didn't know is actually a digi-stamp! Yay for Digi-stamps - instant stamping fix :) I am such a Digi-stamp convert now that I've found a paper to print on that will allow me to colour with Copics or Prismacolor / Sansodor without my printer ink smearing or bleeding. Wahoo!

I've kept the card quite simple and let the image do the talking! She is coloured with my Prismacolor pencils and I've layered her up and added glossy accents to the baubles and lights for that extra dimension.

Have you got your trees up yet?
Ours went up Monday night - yay! Ooo pretty!
Kim

Materials:
Stamp - Inky Impressions
Colouring - Prismacolor pencils; Sansodor
Usual suspects - silicone glue; paper trimmer; scissors
Other - Cuttlebug; embossing folder; glossy accents; computer; printer

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 6

Hey All, How you doing? It is the Quixotic Paperie Challenge number 6 and this week it is all about:

Stars

Don't forget that this month everyone is playing for a Mystery pack of yummy crafty goodies worth £20!

So here is my make for the challenge - A big Christmas Star! Ooo and if you want to see more Christmas Stars have a look at the one Kelly from Crafting Creativity has done!

This star is an altered wooden star from Quixotic Paperie, with one of the super cute angels from the CC Designs Sugar Plums Angel Emma Stamp set. Love!

I punched holes in the star with my Crop-a-dile and then covered it with Gesso (the star - not my Crop-a-dile! LOL!).

Then stamped out the music background on ordinary paper with Versacolor charcoal ink. Don't look too closely as you will notice that I stamped one upside down - Oops!

I then cut out a star to cover the front of the wooden star and started to add colour with distress inks and Brilliance ink. Then gave it a Gesso wash and stamped over with a crackle stamp and light distress ink.

Using diluted PVA I attached the paper to the front of the wooden star and when it was dry - well almost dry, I'm so impatient - I used my piercing tool to poke the holes through the paper ready to thread the ribbon through.

The cute angel is coloured with Prismacolor pencils and Sansodor and then added some shine with a wash of Brilliance ink. I've also used Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz on her wings. The final touch is a little bit of Angelina Fibers behind her.

Have fun with your star projects.
Kim

This set of cards uses the ultra-versatile CC Designs Cookie Crumbs Reason For The Season stamp set which I think might be one of my favourites this season.

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 5

It's Wednesday and it is the Fifth Quixotic Paperie challenge.

This week's challenge, as picked by Martine, is:

Charms

Here is my offering today - I've used My Mind's Eye Colourful Christmas papers and the Bow-Easy™ Template for the silver bow.

The super cute Gossamer Cornwand Fairy from Amy Young at CC Designs has been coloured with Copic Markers and Stickles glitter. I've given her some sparkly lipstick too - now I want some glitter lippy!

Little snowflake punch shapes have been used in place of the little spiders at the bottom of her skirt to turn her into a Christmas fairy and I've used Glossy Accents on her wings and shoes.

Yeah - but what about the Charm? I mean that is what the challenge is about after all?

Well I've used a Fleur De Lys charm, that I've snipped off the hanging hoop with my pliers then fixed it to one of the little wooden Christmas tree shapes that I had decorated with white paint, book paper and Rock Candy crackle paint.

I would have used a Christmas charm - but I didn't have one! So a little creative panic and hey presto LOL!

But before you rush off, have you checked out if you have won November's £20 shopping spree at Quixotic Paperie?

Have a Charming day

Prismacolor® Premier Illustration Markers

Hey all, hope you are all having a good Friday and that you guys in the US had a lovely Thanksgiving Holiday and are enjoying Black Friday. I have something here that you might want to pop into those shopping baskets.

I was very lucky last week to have been sent some new pens to try out and review. Now you know how I LOVE Prismacolor® Pencils? Well I was sent a couple of packets of the new Prismacolor® Premier Illustration Markers and I've been playing with them ever since.

I've used a number of different illustration marker pens in my time, as I'm sure you have too and although they have been sufficient for the job this is the first set of pens that actually made me want to use them for everything I could get my hands on.

First of all let me run through what they are. They are nontoxic, lightfast, acid free, archival quality illustration marker pens. I've tried them out on various different weights of paper and card, with Copic pens and Sansodor and they did not bleed or smear and kept their intensity of colour, which is fabulous.

They come in a range of tip shapes and sizes - brush tips; chisel tips; bullet tips extra fine 005, 01, 03, 05, to the more chunky 08. They also come in a range of colours and you can see the red, green, blue and black here but you can also find them in purple, orange, brown and sepia.

I was finding all sorts of things to do with these pens, perfect for my artistic and papercrafting needs, great for illustration, sketching, journaling, calligraphy.

This card was made using the 05 and 08 bullet point pens for the faux stitching, the chisel tip pen for the sentiment and the 08 bullet point pen to draw the holly leaves which I then distressed with inks.

I even tried some calligraphy, not something I do that often as you can see. LOL! But something that these lovely pens have inspired me to do more of! That and drawing - these pens are perfect for sketching, the ink flow is so smooth they are a joy to use.

You can find them in art/stationery stores. They are widely available in the US but as they are new they are just starting to appear in the UK so keep your eyes out for them.

I think you can tell I loved using them? If I was pushed to find a negative about them that would be that the lids are just a touch tight to get on and off at first but really that is not a big deal.

The suggested retail price is $3 (approx £1.90) for a single marker and $20 (£12.20) for a pack of 8. Well worth it in my opinion.

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 4

Hey Guys, It is the fourth Quixotic Paperie Challenge and I had the honour of choosing the challenge for this week:

Tearing

One of my favourite paper techniques!

I've done a bit of an abstract card for my DT sample! This card is for my Grandpa's birthday and uses the yummy Cosmo Cricket Early Bird paper.

I've used lots of scraps of paper collaged together and then cut into the heart shape and hand-stitched using the border stitch from this tutorial here.

I've used a scallop border punch and more tearing and stitching for the weaved paper strips.

Hope you have a tearingly good Wednesday
Kim

Materials:
Papers - Cosmo Cricket Early Bird paper
Usual Suspects - Silicone glue
Other - Kraft card; Scallop border punch; thread; PVA; needle
