Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 19

Hey Guys, have you seen this week's challenge over at Quixotic Paperie? Oh boy have we got a fun one for you this week. This week it is a:

CASE One Of The QP DT

The idea is that you CASE a card (i.e. use one of the DT Member's design and layout) or do 'In The Style Of...' one of the DT members. Don't forget to link to the card or person you are CASEing.

Well here is my CASEd card and I've CASEd this card from the fabulous Rowena Barnard. I've used the My Mind's Eye Lil Robot papers and diecuts and Ro's gorgeous design but I've also done a bit in the style of Ro with inking the papers and the dark stitching :)

The ickle robot and the sentiment is a die cut from the kit and they are just so fab, I love them to bits!

I've used my Cuttlebug and embossing folders to add some texture to the image background and to a strip of card covered with kitchen foil. The chipboard cogs were painted with acrylic paint and inked with greys and silvers.

Hope you are having a lovely long weekend

If you have a few moments you might want to check out the Clearance Section in Quixotic Paperie there are lots of fab bargains to be had! Perfect Easter Treat!

Anyone For Unity Cake?

Bank holiday Friday deserves some cake don't you think?

This yummy cupcake selection is one of the fabulous stamps from the Adventures In Happiness Unity Store kits and is available from Emily over at Make The Day Special a long with a lot of other hard to get in the UK stamps. If you scroll down there is a picture of the whole kit with all the lovely stamps you get!

So I've used a textured card for this make which has given a lovely mottled effect to the colouring.

So this is a piccy of the kit! Thought I would tempt you all with a picture of the actual rubber rather than the usual image picture I show you!

This is a huge kit! The whole thing is 8.5 x 11 inches (21 x 27cm) and to give you an idea the Light House stamp on the top right measures approximately 3.25 x 1.25 inches (8 x 3.5 cm). The kit comes ready backed with an sponge mount and precut so that all you have to do is pop the stamps out and use them with an acrylic block. Sorted!

Thanks for popping by.
Hope you have a wonderful Cupcake Good Friday
Kim

TGF Royal Battle News

Hey All,

Nothing to show today, I'm afraid, as my mojo is on a bit of a go slow!

But I thought I would give a shout out for Quixotic Stampers! We are a team in The Greeting Farm Royal Battle comprising of Elaine Hughes, Rowena Barnard, Emma Lockley and myself.

Each week The Greeting Farm sets a challenge, each team taking part submits an entry and then everyone can vote for their three favourite makes by leaving a comment in the gallery here.

For the first week it is all retro and Rowena has made the most amazing card for our team entry, you can see it here. If you have a moment we really would appreciate your vote LOL!

Right, hope to see you tomorrow with a make :)

{Ippity} Friday - Welcome Home

Hello Friday people, I have an {Ippity} make for you today that uses the Simply Home set which you can get at {Ippity} Inspiration, it is from the Autumn/Fall 2009 kit release. I've been using a lot of the Winter 2010 release recently so thought it was time for a re-visit to the Autumn/Fall 2009 release :)

I've paper pieced the home with Basic Grey Two scoops paper. It is quite a simple make but I thought it would be quite a good New Home card, what do you think?

Emily is taking part in the Unity blog hop today so if you want to take a peak pop over to the Make The Day Special blog where you can also see any specials that Emily has at the moment :)

Right, I shall leave you all to your hopping.
Thanks for stopping by.
Kim

Materials:
Stamps - Simply Home {Ippity}
Ink - Versafine onyx black

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 18

Quixotic Paperie Challenge day and today we have:

Monochrome

So for this one you need to use a single color or hue with tints and shades included but we are allowing skin tones for character images so don't panic :)

Well for my DT make this week I decided to go for a teal monochrome and a bit of a sea theme with the fabulous Eric from Paper Make-Up Stamps which is available at Quixotic Paperie. I've stamped him out in teal ink and then covered him in Glossy Accents.

I've used the My Mind's Eye Colourful Christmas paper and used a mask and some ink to add some 'bubbles'.

The background for the stamp is a bit of map paper which I have distressed with ink and covered with Rock candy crackle paint.

I added some fabric, the teal coloured pieces are muslin left over from a recent dyeing project and the white fabric is a little bit of wound dressing muslin (Not used off course. LOL!). I've stuck it to the card with Mod Podge.

I've added splodges of Mod Podge on top of the fabric and areas of the card then added beads. Also I added some sea-themed charms and a little shell that I had in my craft box. Elaine has some shell charms at Quixotic Paperie.

The ickle blue ceramic fishy will also be available at Quixotic Paperie soon (if it is not up already!).

Hope you aren't all at sea today
Kim

My make is taking part in the {Ippity} Blog hop which if you want to join in with then pop over to {Ippity} Inspirations for the link to get started.

I've masked off part of the Moon Beam stamp before inking up as I only wanted a portion of it for this make. The little stars and moon are coloured with PrismaColor pencils and then I've covered them with glossy accents for dimension.

Hope you have a starry Monday

Beautiful Paper Dolls

I've been playing with the Crate Paper die-cuts and stickers that come with the Paper Doll Crate Paper collection, aren't they the cutest?

Quixotic Paperie has the lovely new Crate Paper kits with the beautiful designs. The papers I have used are also from the Paper Doll kit and they are just so pretty.

The sentiment is a die-cut from the collection and I've used one of the new head pins from Quixotic Paperie and I added a 10mm pearl bead with a 'snowflake' style spacer to the head and then bent the pin end into a loop to hang the butterfly charm from.

The bottom of the card was finished with a scalloped sticker from the kit and I've added some of the lovely glossy white oval-shaped flat-backed pearl gems.

Hope you all have a Paper Doll Day
Kim

Materials:
Papers - Crate Paper Paper Doll
Usual Suspects - Paper trimmer; silicone glue; scissors
Other - Head Pins; 10mm Pearl Bead; 'Snowflake' Style spacer; Butterfly charm; Sewing machine; thread; glossy white oval-shaped flat-backed Pearl gems; jewellery pliers; Uhu glue

More Birdcages

A collage card for you today using the Basic Grey Birdcage stamps and a Prima Marketing Inc bingo card stamp.

I wanted a bit of dimension with the bird and birdcage stamps so I stamped them out in white on some kraft card and then again in black, making sure that I did not stamp directly over the top of the white so that there was a bit of a 'shadow'.

They are clear stamps which makes life a bit easier for this technique :)

The bingo card was stamped on card and then sprayed with Shimmerz Spritz.

The button is actually made of stone, I could not resist them when I saw them in my local haberdashery shop.

You might be wondering why some of the photos say 2009? Well I confess, I made this card in 2009 and took some pictures of it but I wasn't happy with the main picture and it was on my list to re-take it. Well I finally got around to retaking the piccy - Ooops, only a few months late!

May your day be a collage day,
full of interesting bits and bobs.
Kim

Materials:
Stamps - Basic Grey; Prima Marketing Inc
Ink - VersaFine Onyz; Memento white
Paper - Websters Pages
Usual Suspects - Paper trimmer; silicone glue
Other - Shimmer spritz; Ribbon; Button; Swirl gems;

Would You Like To Swing On A Star?

Swinging on a star today and this star is one of the new QKR Stampede stamps that Emily has over at Make The Day Special.

I love these stamps they have a lovely cloth doll look I think and that is what lead me to use this wonderful gingham and dotty paper from October Afternoon.

I've paper pieced the girl's dress and used my Prismacolor pencils to colour the rest of her.

The paper ruffle at the bottom is made from raffia that I unfolded then stuck down to a strip of double-sided tape.

Have you seen the new Make The Day Special Blog yet?

Have a star swinging Friday

My White Sparkly Heart

Hey all I'm not really sure how to describe my make today! It has some elements of shabby chic so perhaps that is the best title for it?

The papers are from Basic Grey and Webster's Pages and are very pink :) The sparkly heart was cut from card then covered in layers of Glossy Accents and glitter to give it dimension.

The image is the SCACD Elizabeth Bell I Heart Ya available at Quixotic Paperie and I've used my PrismaColor pencils to colour her. I've cut her out and backed her with a bit of Tulle.

Have you spotted the gorgeous pearl headed pin? That is one of the new pins available from Quixotic Paperie here.

BTW have you seen that Elaine has some candy up on her blog Quixotic Cards?

Have a lovely day all

Inky Impressions Challenges No. 32

Fancy a challenge? Well Inky Impressions has a fabulous challenge. We are still thinking green but this time it is to:

Recycle

Now you have two weeks for this challenge and you do not need to have an Inky Impressions stamp to enter the challenge, you just need to recycle something.

So here is my DT make for the challenge and I have used Inky Impressions Lili Roller Skating for this make with some My Mind's Eye paper and some Inky Dinky Drops.

My recycling? Well the 'ribbon' is from some packaging for fruit.

I seem to have a thing for coloured hair at the moment :)

Hope you all have a great recycling day.
Kim

Colouring - PrismaColor Pencils
Papers - My Mind's Eye Laundry line
Usual Suspects - Paper trimmer; Silicone Glue; Double-sided tape
