Kaboodle Doodle at the Fifth

This week it is challenge number Five at Kaboodle Doodle - can you believe it? There are some scrummy free papers to download and use in your creation for this week's challenge and here is what I did with them. A friend of mine wants a jewellary box for her birthday and I've been shopping around but they aren't very nice so I thought I might have a go at making one - hope she likes it :)

Materials:
Papers - Kaboodle Doodle
Other - recycled cardboard; PVA glue; Acrylic varnish; wire; beads

Fast Recovery

So here we are again - able to blog properly since we have a new computer - a challenge submission for the Funky Fairy's Challenge Blog which has a Get Well Soon theme.

Having recently done the whole hospital and recovery thing I worked my way through a number of puzzle books to pass the time so thought that a little 'Recovery Pack' filled with puzzle books would be perfect :)

I've made a box from cardstock and decorated it with stamping and Funky Fairy's papers. The pack can fit two books and a pencil and is secured with ribbon wrapped around buttons sewn into the card. It was great fun to do :) It is good to be back.

Materials:
Stamps: Suger Nellie; Autumn Leaves
Papers: Funky Fairy's Colorful Daze
Card: lime green cardstock
Others: Buttons; Ribbon

Bag Charm

Oh major calamity - our computer has given up the ghost, I can't blog! I'm having to borrow this computer for a few minutes to get this up on my blog. I'm gutted how can I feed my addiction?

This blog is a last minute entry into Shaz's blog candy challenge on her blog Funky Fairy's Ramblings. The challenge was blue, pink and green colours to make something. So I made a bag charm with Funky Fairy's papers and beads. Not the best piccy in the world due to circumstances - hey ho!

So this weekend it is off to buy a new computer and a new printer because that went a few weeks ago :( Ooo shopping - new toys :)

Retro decor

This is a bit of a tongue in cheek 4x4 for Funky Fairy blog who are doing a Tri-challenge, so anything to do with 'Tri'. I have used triples with three birds and three colours. This 4x4 is also for the My Time to Craft challenge blog which this week has the theme of 'birds'.

So imagine yourself back in the late sixties, early seventies looking at your wall..... :)

Put together with stamping and pencil colouring. The birds are stamped, coloured, cut out and then covered in 3-dimensional glaze glue.

Coaster...

Sweet Sugar Challenges has a great challenge to make something other than a card with Sugar Nellie stamps. So I decided to have a go at a coaster for cups :) So patterned paper has been layered onto a circular piece of chipboard and then sealed with a varnish (to waterproof it a bit). It was fun to do.

Bitten By the Challenge Bug

I’ve been wanting to alter the cover of my travel journal from my trip last year to China for a while now and this week's challenge of Travel/Places from Arty Girlz gave me the inspiration to finally do it. So here is my go at the challenge:

The background uses a black and white photocopy of a map of China that I have coloured in using the same technique as the background for the flower card but then highlighted areas with watercolour pencils. The main highlights being the actual journey we took from Beijing to Xi’an to ZhengZhou and back to Beijing. I then stamped a dragon onto acetate with stazon and coloured the dragon with cosmic shimmer mixed into three dimensional glue. The letters were all cut out by hand and ‘China’ has been accentuated with three dimensional glue. It was great fun doing this AND I've ticked off one of my jobs from my 'To Do' list :)
