Shhh! Don't Feed The Monster!

Got a bit of a monster for you all today but he is a friendly monster, well, sort of friendly.

Perhaps you better tiptoe around here today and just avoid making any sudden movements.

That's right just scroll down carefully!

See he is quite harmless really - whose coughing? Shhhh! Quick leave the room...

It's Ok, he is still smiling!

Phew

This little monster is from the My Cute Stamp Kit Eeek! A Monster! Available over at Make The Day Special.

The tag is one of my collage backgrounds (tutorial coming soon!) and I coloured him with ZIG Kurecolor Inks which can be used like alcohol ink.

The fibres and screw top brads are also from Kuretake.

Ok, so I'm going to sneak off quietly now...

Catch you later!

Shhh!

Make The Day Special And Kuretake

Ok so who stole Monday? It disappeared and suddenly we are in Tuesday - which one of you took it? Oh look there it is, it slipped under the cushions on the sofa - D'oh!

Phew - well now we are back in order here is my Tuesday make and this week I've used Make The Day Special stamps with Kuretake colouring and stamping to give:

The background Gingham stamp is one of the Unity {Ippity} Fall 2010 releases and you can get an idea of the coverage of the stamp as it is mounted on an A6 sized card.

I used ZIG Art and Graphic Twin 29 (which is a red) directly onto the stamp with touches of Antique Burgundy from the ZIG Calligraphy range and stamped it onto white card.

The woman is the 'You Are Loved' stamp from the Unity Suzi Blu range that you can get from Make The Day Special.

I've coloured her with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens with a couple of touches here and there of the ZIG Calligraphy pens.

A quick tip for you - the ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens work perfectly for changing colours of ribbons, I've used some Seam Binding Ribbon from Ribbon Girl coloured with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin 29 to get a matching ribbon, and if you are like me and are challenged in the bow-tying department then remember to check out the Bow-Easy template.

Right, I better get on and try not to lose Tuesday down the back of the sofa too!

Have a fabulous day you all!

My Cute Stamp Skinny Invites

My Make The Day Special make this week is a little different,  I thought I would try experimenting with a different format by making some little skinny invite cards. They only measure 4 cm by 10.5cm (~ 1.5 inch by 4.1 inch) so very slender indeed!

The My Cute Stamp Birthday kit is perfect for these little cards I thought.

Ok so you would have to write really small on the inside but for every one A6 sized card you can get three invites, so at least you get to invite lots of people to your party!

I'm sure there is some logic in there somewhere.

Have a fun Tuesday.

Born To Fly On A Friday

Hey Guy's got some Friday Flying to show you today, it is the DT make I did for Make The Day Special this week, this is the first chance I've had to show you it here.

I got all inky fingered for this one so I thought, seeing as it has a Nature theme it would be perfect for Hels' Sunday Stampers Challenge this week.

The Swallow stamp from the Unity Life Become Kit which is one of the Kits on special offer over at Make The Day Special.

To make up the background I also used one of the grasses from the Unity Insightful Meadow Stamp Kit.

Hope you have a flyingly good Friday!

Finishing Journal Pages

I haven't completed a journal page for ages, I've been making lots of backgrounds but not finishing the actual page so I decided to be brave and use up one of my backgrounds.

Here is a page I've had in my head for a while now, probably from the first time I saw this stamp! The stamp is Suzi Blu Love Yourself and is available from Make The Day Special.

I've stamped her onto a gesso treated book page and coloured her with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin Pens using the brush tip to give the feathering texture to her dress.

I drew my cherry blossom branch and bird cage but if you don't feel like drawing yours then check out the My Cute Stamps section in Make The Day Special!

I used the ZIG Millennium pens to draw and coloured the blossom with acrylic paint and ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens.

The background was made using watercolour techniques with acrylic paints.

I'm not entirely sure she is finished, I kinda would like to put some Japanese calligraphy on the page but seeing as I don't know any it might take a while before I finish this one!

I think I might be suffering from completion fear :)

Thanks for popping by today.

Mixing My Styles

A little light-hearted Springy ATC make today. For my Make The Day Special DT make this week I've used the vintage look stamps from the Unity and Cosmo Cricket De-Lovely Childhood Kit and matched them with a more contemporary kraft, fabric, button and Bakers Twine look.

Can you describe it as Contemporary Vintage? Do those two words cancel each other out?

Enjoy your contemporary vintage Tuesday!

Twinkle On A Tuesday

Lots of twinkle in my Make The Day Special makes today, they are Twinchies made from card and fabric and decorated with stamps from the {Ippity} Moon Beam and Heart String and the Unity Wishes and Kisses. I've called them 'Creative Hearts and Stars'.

The background was made by layering small pieces of calico fabric onto a piece of card with Sparkle Mod Podge. Once the glue had dried the card was split in half and painted with acrylic paint.

I stamped out the background hearts and stars then highlighted the stamp work with ZIG Wink Of Stella pens from Kuretake for even more sparkle.

There you have it a nice sparkly, textured background!

Have a Twinkly Twinchies Tuesday

Dreaming Of You

It's Tuesday so that means it is a Make The Day Special make from me! Today I have an ATC using a stamp from one of the Unity Adventures in Happiness kits and it is reduced at the moment over in the shop.

Perfect little Valentine's ATC :)

Hope that your dreams come true today!

Godzilla Is On The Loose!

NEWSFLASH...Roarrr! Godzilla has gotten loose in down town Tokyo again - D'oh! He is going around wishing people Happy Birthday!

Ok, so not really! It is just me using another of my favourite stamp sets - you never guessed did you?

I love this Eeek! A Monster stamp set from My Cute Stamp, available over at Make The Day Special. Thought it was time to ink him up again, so I've given him a bit of colour with my ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens from Kuretake.

Also I wanted to give you a little sneak peek at some new pens from Kuretake that will be in the shops around Spring time. Oh boy I reckon you are going to love these!

They are called 'Wink of Stella' and they are ultra sparkly. This photo doesn't really do them justice, they are far more sparkly than I can show. So look out for them and you will definitely be seeing more of them from me!

Have a Monster good day!

Mixed Media Tags

If you dropped by for WOYWW last Wednesday you would have seen my painting studio, otherwise known as 'The Kitchen' (no really, it is our kitchen). I showed you a couple of works in progress one of which was this collection of mixed media tags for Make The Day Special.

Please notice the close-up on the packet of choccie and caramel biccies (top right corner), which is an integral part of the creative process.

Moving on and away from the biscuits, here is the final design process for the tags...

The tags are for a swap which had the theme 'New', so I kinda went with a 'Live your life and grow your wings' interpretation about making new creative beginnings.

I used some of my favourite stamps available at Make The Day Special. The ladies you might recognise as the Suzi Blu 'You Are Loved' and 'Love Yourself', the butterfly is from the Unity kit 'Life Becoming' (which is on sale at the moment!). The 'Life' sentiment is from the {Ippity} Kit What Matters Most and the 'Live, Laugh, Love' sentiment is from the {Ippity} Simply Home Kit.

The stamped images have been coloured with Prismacolor pencils for the skin and hair tones and ZIG Art and Graphic twin pens from Kuretake for the dresses and wings etc. As you saw the backgrounds were coloured with acrylic paints so very mixed media tags!

You Light My Way

Oh Valentine's Day, the day to celebrate Lurve and here is a Lurve Tag for you! Well I'm in a bit of a tag mood at the moment as I'm making some tags for a swap and now I can not stop making tags!

This tag is for Make The Day Special and it uses the lovely street lamp from the Unity Adventures in Happiness kit which is on at Half Price at the moment so you might want to check it out! The sentiment is from the Unity Wishes and Kisses kit.

Bring on the Lurve :)

Make The Day Special Baby Hanger

Ok so we are now 4 days into the New Year...how many of those resolutions/ life-style changes have you kept too? Oh how we struggle to become better people with the New Year! I'm pacing myself this year, that is my New Year's resolution to pace my life-style improvements over the whole year and not just in the first two weeks of January, this works particularly well if you still have Christmas chocolates left over - *Big Grin!*

Tee Hee!

A make for you today using the Unity and Cosmo Cricket cross-over - De-lovely Childhood stamp kit  available over at Make The Day Special. I've made a little hanger for baby's door.

Good luck with your resolutions / life-style changes!

Thanks for popping in.

Recycled Painty Heart

Oh I do like a bit of messy paint, as you know! So I've got a bit painty mad using the Unity Kisses and Wishes stamp set.

Lots of fabulous recycling for this one, some packing and old sewing patterns all recycled!

So what you all up to during the Christmas week?

Have a great Painty Heart day.

More Snowflakes Falling?

So we are almost there! Not long to go now! Are we taking bets for a White Christmas? What do you reckon? Will you have snow on Christmas Day where you are?

I've been all snowy with my snowflake makes recently, this one uses the CC Designs Snowflake Stamp kit available over at Quixotic Paperie with the sentiment from the Unity Itty Bitty Merry and Bright stamp available at Make The Day Special.

Hope all is Merry and Bright with you.

Metallic And Bright

The last run of Christmas makes and I'm still desperately playing catch up! Note to self - start earlier next year. I'm sure I say that every year and I never do! Hands up all of you how do the same?

I've used the Unity Itty Bitty Merry and Bright stamp with sentiment, available over at Make The Day Special. I think I can safely say that this has been one of my top favourite stamps for this season.

I've used the metallic Perfect Pearls to add that gorgeous shine.

Ooo I'm so easily distracted by shiny things.

Have a shiny day.
