As Featured On Blitsy - How To Get Started With SolarFast Dye

Time for a Blitsy Blog post from me and this week I have something a little different to share from my usual step by step tutorials. It's a little exploration into solar printing with the Jacquard SolarFast Dyes.

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Results from Kim Dellow's play with Jacuard SolarFast Dyes

This week I'm getting started with these SolarFast Dyes on paper and sharing the results, you can use them on fabric too. I've played with solar printing before using different products, and it is always good fun, but I have not tried these types of dyes before so I was keen to give them a go.

Have you used them? If you like solar printing what have you tried before? If you are completely new to solar printing then I can definitely recommend having a play it is great fun!

If you want some inspiration to get you started then do visit my How To Get Started With SolarFast Dye blog post over on the Blitsy blog.

As Featured On Blitsy - How To Make A Glitter Art Journal Page

I'm not usually a glitter girl. Don't get me wrong, I love glitter and I have tonnes of the stuff but I rarely actually use it in my projects. Well, that just won't do, so I decided to use some in a journal page for Blitsy.

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Well not just some, I used a lot! I had been playing with glitter through stencils so thought it would make a fun, shiny journal page and a great way to stretch your stash. Instead of using gels or texture paste try using your glitter glue.

If you want to see more there is a full step by step called 'How To Make A Glitter Art Journal Page' on the Blitsy blog.

Time to get out the glitter glue!

As Featured On Blitsy - How To Reuse Your Blitsy Box Into A Textured Art Journal Page

It's Blitsy time again and this week I have a tutorial to help you recycle your Blitsy packaging into art!

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Kim Dellow Tutorial on Blitsy showing how to turn packaging into art

You know that thing when you are a kid when the box is more fun than the contents? Well, that is exactly what I've been up to with this tutorial this week. Although Bltisy boxes are always full of fun but how about an idea to make the box fun as well? It is perfectly timed too as yesterday was Earth Day so if you have been looking for a recycling project then try this one out!

You will find all the steps over on the Blitsy blog  - How To Reuse Your Blitsy Box Into A Textured Art Journal Page.

As Featured On Blitsy - How To Make A Die-Cut and Watercolour Art Journal Page

This week over on the Blitsy blog I am sharing the making of this art journal page from start to finish...

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Close-up of a watercolour and die-cut journal page

It is a super drippy art journal page using die-cuts and the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours to make lots of texture and interesting colour. I had loads of fun making it and playing with the paints on the page so if you are want to see more do pop on over to my How To Make A Die-Cut and Watercolour Art Journal Page on the Blitsy blog.

As Featured On Blitsy - How to Make A Yupo Art Journal Page

I have a fun tutorial on the Blitsy blog today using the synthetic paper Yupo.

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Close up of acrylic paint on Yupo paper

In my tutorial I make a moon-themed art journal page using acrylic paint on the Yupo. I do love the effects you can get with Yupo, look at the cool texture! It is such a fun surface to play on and the paint reacts differently to the smooth synthetic paper. You don't have to use acrylic paints it takes other materials like watercolour well too.

If you want to see more then see the full How to Make A Yupo Art Journal Page tutorial on the Blitsy Blog.

As Featured On Blitsy - How To Make a Mixed Media Big Bloom Card

It is Blitsy time and this week I have a card making tutorial on the blog.

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Close up of the details on a mixed media card

I've gone all pink, well with a smidge of kraft and cream too, but mostly pink, pink with some more pink for good measure! I've obviously been in a bit of a pink mood as well as a teal mood at the moment.

So if you are looking for something a bit inky, card-y and mixed media-y then go take a look on the Blitsy blog to see how I put this Mixed Media Big Bloom Card together. Of course yours doesn't have to be pink if you don't want it to be!

Catch you later.

As Featured On Blitsy - How To Make A Mixed Media Neon Cuff

I just wanted to let you know that I have a tutorial up on the Blitsy Blog today.

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Click to learn how to make a Mixed Media wearable cuff

This week my Blitsy tutorial is all about how to make some wearable art. I've used denim and the lush Neon WOW Embossing Powders to make this cuff. I've also added more neon pop with Papermania Neon tassels and buttons. I just love how the Neon looks on the denim.

Stamping and heat embossing on fabric is really easy but if you want to see how to get a nice crisp, colourful image and not just lose the colour into the fabric then go check out the tutorial!

I'm looking forward to seeing your wearable Mixed Media art so do post the links in the comments below to anything you make or have made in the past.

As Featured On Blitsy - How to Make Mixed Media Invites

It is tutorial time again from me on the Blitsy blog and this week I'm mass producing invites to an Arty Party!

Ok, so I had to add the arty in front of party 'coz I love the way it sounds but really the mixed media method I demonstrate in this tutorial is a great way to bespoke your invites for any sort of party!

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Click to go to the Mixed media invite tutorial on Blitsy

The great thing about this method is that you can make as many invites as you need and quite quickly too. But you don't have to just use it for invites, how about your own DIY Business cards? You can see how I made them in my tutorial on the Blitsy blog.

Now all you need to do is get the party started!

Have fun

As Featured On Blitsy - How To Make Mixed Media Wall Art

Time for a tutorial share over on the Blitsy blog for the steps to make a textured canvas board project.

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

Close up on a textured canvas board

You might just be able to tell from this cheeky sneaky peek (I wanted to say peeky then but perhaps that is an -eeky too far?!) that I've used a stencil to build up the texture and then there are several layers using different DecoArt Media paints to build up the colour.

You can see all the steps over on the Blitsy Blog.

Have a fun Saturday you all.

As Featured On Blitsy - Mixed Media Butterflies And A Waffle Flower Diamond

I have a couple of mixed media tutorials up on the Blitsy blog at the moment that you might be interested in. They are both quite different from each other but they both do have one thing in common and that is they are three dimensional!

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post.]

So the first tutorial you might be interested in is a Butterfly make.

Mixed media butterfly wall art

It is quite an ephemeral piece as I've incorporated vellum into the background and the butterflies are made from old book pages that makes them extra delicate I think, much like real butterflies. I think this would make a great journal page idea. But to keep the 3D effect of the butterflies what about hanging it as wall art? What do you think?

To see the full tutorial go checkout my How to Make Mixed Media Butterfly Wall Art post on the Blitsy blog.

The other tutorial I wanted to let you know about is a 3D tag.

3D tag using Waffle Flower dies

For this tag I've used Waffle Flower dies and one of my favourite dies at the moment which is the Waffle Flower 3D Diamond Template die. I love this die and you are in luck as it has just gone into the daily sales on Blitsy so it is at a discount for the next couple of days, so don't miss out!

I've also gone very pastel shades for this make and used the yummy Faber-Castell Gelatos which I also love to play with.

If you pop along to my How to Make A 3D Mixed Media Tag blog post then you will get a full tutorial on how to put this together and a link to all the products I used too.

Hope I've given you some ideas for your next projects this weekend.

As Featured On Blitsy- Decorate Your Happy Planner With PanPastel

Time for a tutorial and a Me & My Big Ideas Create 365 Happy Planner hack from me over on Blitsy blog today. I'm sharing how to decorate and add a bit of colour to your Happy Planner with PanPastel and stencils.

[I do use affiliate links and there are some in this blog post]

Close up of PanPastel on MAMBI Create 365 Note and Graph Paper

It has been a while since I last got my PanPastels out and I was thinking that it would be a great way to add a mixed media page to my planner. As PanPastels are a dry medium you don't have to worry about the paper curling, as you do with liquid mediums, so you can even use the Me & My Big Ideas Create 365 Note & Graph Paper as it takes the PanPastel really well.

You can find all the steps on how I did it over on the Blitsy Blog so do go take a peek!
