Industrial Grunge On A Saturday

I've been getting into industrial grunge with Tando Creative alterables. Elaine has lots of fabulous Alterable items in Quixotic Paperie that are great fun to play with!

I love getting a little messy with paints so this is the perfect make for me with painted jute and grunged foil!

Easy to do, cover some card with kitchen foil and emboss with an embossing folder through your die-cutting machine.

Fun bit, add black paint! Messy!

Wipe off most of the paint to give the grunged look.

You can do anything you like with the Tando Creative items, paint them, cover them with papers all sorts of things. I've added texture with Golden Molding paste on mine and then painted it with acrylic paints.

Finishing by adding a dollop of red paint and Glossy Accents to the two top hearts.

If you are into birdhouses then check out the Tando Creative ones - so cute!

Enjoy playing!

Cute Card Thursday And Ippity

Some texture for you today, I always like to mix a bit of texture together. The challenge over at Cute Card Thursday is:

Tree-mendous!

So get your tree and leaf stamps out. My tree is from the gorgeous {Ippity} kit What Matters Most which you can get from {Ippity} Inspiration.

I've used a mix of Acrylic paint and watercolour pens and pencils to colour the tree and bird stamps.

The calico was coloured with Acrylic paints.

As I've used Acrylic paint for this card I thought it would be perfect for the Gingersnap Creations Spicy Supply challenge this month which is - Paints.

Have a Tree-mendous day you all.

Sewing Patterns In Pink

My card today uses some more of the yummy Hero Arts Stamps sewing-themed stamps - I did warn you that I had a soft spot for sewing-themed stamps didn't I? So I've gone with a totally stitchy theme for my card with some fun sewing machine stitching and thread and button embellishments.

I've paper pieced the pattern on mulberry paper to give a bit of texture and pink designer paper.

The little card bobbin embellishment was made by stamping one of the Hero Arts Woodgrain stamps on card and cutting the shape out then wrapping it with thread.

Thanks for dropping in.
Have a lovely day.

Simply Handmade Home Decor Wall Hanging

Some sewing for you today and a little stamped and stitched wall hanging. I just love this stamp from Hero Arts but then I am a sucker for all sewing themed stamps! Well, if I'm honest not just sewing themed stamps LOL!

I love the vintage look matched with the contemporary design and the slightly distressed fabrics!

I've put this little wall hanging up in to my Etsy and Folksy shops, but I'm not sure I want to part with it LOL!

Edit: I've added it to the challenge over at Practical Scrappers which this week is flowers. Thanks Tanya for the heads-up!

Have a Simply Handmade Day.

Grace On Film

Hey guys, I have a mixed media canvas to show you today, I've called it 'Grace On Film'!

I was lucky enough to win some gorgeous Darkroom Door stamps as blog candy from Rachel Greig's Darkroom Door blog and just thought they would be perfect for this project. I love mixing fabric, paper, embroidery and rubber stamping and the different textures and effects it gives to a piece.

There are a lot of details, that I'm not sure I've managed to pick up in the photographs - still trying to get to know my new camera.

The fabrics have been hand coloured and stitched with beading detail. The Darkroom Door image has been hand tinted and I've also added crackle details to the sentiments and yummy buttons to my fabric roses.

Thanks for popping by.

Stamping With Bleach

Welcome to the Unity Friends With Flair Blog hop! To join in the blog hop please find the hopping list over at the Unity Stamps Blog.

Just thought I would show you guys a little experiment with bleach and fabric that I did for the Make The Day Special blog. I've not stamped in bleach before and have been wanting to have a go at it so I thought that I would have a go on fabric - you know me and fabric - I do love the stuff!

I've used one of my favourite Unity sets (I think I can probably say that about all of them!) Insightful Meadows for this one.

Think I shall play about with this some more - I quite like the effect LOL!

The next blog on your hop is Beate over at Fresh And Fun.

Thanks for looking and catch you later!

Cute Card Thursday May Guest DT Fourth Make

Hey Everyone, another card for you today and today it is my guest DT make for Cute Card Thursday which this week is all about:

No Designer Papers!

Fun one for me this week because like a lot of us I'm in love with my Designer Papers so it was fun to break the pattern (pardon the pun) and make my own papers for this challenge - hope you like them!

To make my backing paper I've used stamping, masking and a watercolour wash.

The image is from Stamping Bella and has been coloured with my favourite PrismaColor pencils with Sansodor blending so I thought I would enter the card into the Gingersnap Creations Spicy Supply Challenge which is 'Pencils'.

The heart I used blending inks and stamping with {Ippity} stamps finished with some yummy lace ribbon.

Right that is all from me today.
Have a lovely day.

I have a card to show you today that uses one of the Mo Manning images made into Rubber by Stamping Bella and available at Quixotic Paperie. I've used the great sketch over at Sketch Saturday for this card with Basic Grey Granola papers and some French knots for the six little embellishments.

Right off to do some sweeping of my own.
Have a lovely Friday.

Another Altered Page

Hi Guys, for anyone who regularly sees my makes you will know that I am a bit of the style-flitter - I jump around the different styles having not worked out what my style actually is yet!

I'm not sure if it is just my need to try out everything, or my very short attention span or if, one day, I will settle on a particular style.

I've been having lots of fun with altered pages at the moment! So I thought I would show you another one, slightly different from my Alice In wonderland - Inspired make. I've called this one Language Bird. Ok so I'm not so good with naming my makes!

I thought I would enter this into the Free As A Bird Challenge over at Ink On My Fingers which holds the Sunday Stamper's Challenge and as it is the 100 challenge it is sponsored by The Artistic Stamper and The Stamp Attic.

I've used a page from an old English encyclopedia and from a German book - however, as I do not speak German I have no idea what the page is about!

I've coloured the page with Watercolour wax crayons and then masked and used inks over the top. The bird and branch are Wendy Rhodes stamps and I've used Glossy Accents over the bird.

There is a bit of doodling and stitching and I used the Bazzill Templates for the stitched swirls. The stamp is from Japan.

Right off to flitter
(is that even a word, my spell check doesn't seem to recognise it? Where is my Editor boyfriend when I need him?)
about with something else.
Hope you are all having a great Saturday
Kim

Materials:
Stamps - Wendy Rhodes
Ink - Archival Black; VersaColor inks
Colouring - Neocolor Watersoluble wax crayons
Other - Glossy Accents; Bazzill Templates; Stamp; embroidery thread; Prismacolor Illustration markers; Templates; Mod Podge

Curiouser And Curiouser! Cried Alice

I've been playing with paint and having a whale of a time! Why does playing with paint make me so ridiculously happy? LOL!

Well here is the result of a recent playing with paint session - an Alice in Wonderland inspired altered book page that has been rattling around in my head for a couple of months or so now.

I thought that I would enter it into the Sir Stampalot April Challenge which is all about 'Fantasy' and get this - you can win a Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter! Oh Boy Oh Boy! Yes you heard me right - quick, you have until Midday 29th April to get you entries in!

The details (skip to the pictures if you aren't interested LOL!):

For my altered Alice page I've used a range of techniques and materials. The background is painted in acrylics on an old book page and layered up on painted calico. I've used salt to give that broken-up speckled look and then a Tim Holtz mask to give the negative image shadow.

I really should have taken pictures of each stage as I was going along, but I didn't think it would ever get to my blog, LOL!

I've used Viva Decor glitter gel to add some dimension. Then stamped Paper Artsy and Tuesday Technique stamps on the background for the clock and clock parts.

Alice is from the internet and I've lightly coloured her with pencils - I wanted a tinted look rather than coloured look.

The Cheshire Cat was hand drawn using the recent Tim Burton film for inspiration. The key is a Stamps Away stamp on paper and then glazed onto the page with tinted Mod Podge (my new best friend!).

Of course I had to use fabric, lace, buttons and stitching LOL! Coloured, where needed, with acrylic paint. You might also have noticed some {Ippity} Stamps as well - the Mushrooms :)

This was such fun to do! It might take a bit longer than you average card - even at the rate I make cards! Which is very slowly!

Well thanks for looking
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend
Kimx

{Ippity} Hello

Just in case you had not noticed - It is Friday - Woop! Woop! As it is Friday it is my {Ippity} make day :)

My make today uses the {Ippity} Because Of You Stamp Set which you can get from Emily over at her blog {Ippity} Inspiration.

Emily has been making some changes over at her shop Make The Day Special. You can find some yummy Unity stamps there and you can also pre-order the Your Next Stamp range there as well. Keep your eye on the shop as Emily is adding new stamp ranges over the next few weeks.

The background is the script stamp from the set stamped in white on coloured card. I've used ribbon from the Make The Day Special Kit #2 and a Cretan Stitch with beads to make a border.

I bordered the sentiment with a straight stitch and beads.

Have a lovely Friday you all.

Christmas Pink

Hey Guys, My last Christmas card to show you and this one uses the colour combination inspiration from the Basic Grey Challenge which is Blue, Cream and Pink.

I've chosen to use the lovely Oakley with Christmas Bauble another of my favourites from the Whiff Of Joy Winter Kit - perhaps an odd choice for the colour combo? LOL! The Basic Grey paper is from the Granola set.

So I've used my PrismaColor pencils and Sansodor to colour him and put him on an embossed piece of White Wash card from Core-dinations.

I've hand stitched this one, with a little swirl and snowflake motif and stitched some lace and beads onto the embossed card.

The sentiment from the CC Designs Cookie Crumbs Reason from the Season set was stamped onto some calico and then I stitched a border with some beads around it.

I had some fabulous news the lovely folks at Saturday Spotlight Challenge picked my Willow with Christmas Candle make as a favourite! Thank you guys, you have made my day!

Less than a handful of days to go....
