Show Your Face - Change Hands

Hello amazing Facers, it has been over a year now that I've been sharing my face art and encouraging you all to share your art too here on my blog with the Show Your Face link up. It has been a wonderful journey, I have met and made new friends through it plus I also got an opportunity to share how I draw my faces in a Craft Stamper Magazine video, which is still available by the way!

But now I think I have come to the end of my face and portrait journey for the time being as other artwork is taking over my time and I am finding that I am not drawing faces regularly in my week. So I've decided to finish the Show Your Face link and I'm sorry to say that this will be its last week.

I will still be here, sharing my art and creative life on my blog, on my YouTube channel, Instagram and all the other places you can usually find me, but the Show Your Face link will end this time next Friday.

I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to EVERYONE who has joined, watched, hopped the Show Your Face link. Thank you for joining me and sharing with me every week I have been inspired and amazed by all of you and I hope you have enjoyed it too!

But we still have a share this week so let's share!

First up the admin...

Don't forget:
  • Show Your Face is a community link up for portrait work in any style or medium.
  • the aims are to share, learn, practise, inspire, and be inspired.
  • to make sure that the face artwork is yours, if you use any stamps or templates to build the face they should be designed by you.
  • the link stays open for a week, so link away.
  • finished pieces, works in progress or retro posts (i.e. older works, not from this week) are all welcome.
  • to link back to the link blog post here for that week.
  • Spread the word on your blog/social media outlets and use the #ShowYourFaceFriday hashtag in social media.
  • Using the prompts is totally optional and just there if you fancy playing along. You can still post your face work even if you haven't used the prompt.

My Share This Week...

For my last Show Your Face share I thought I would pick some of my favourite pieces from the last year and a bit. Top left is paint and pen, top right - charcoal, bottom left - ballpoint on crackle paint, bottom right my marker pen half face from last week.

Over To You...

Link your faces artwork and spread the word on your blog and/or social media, hashtag #ShowYourFaceFriday. Please do let anyone you think would be interested in sharing their portraits know about our community here.

Once again, thank you Face-Artinators for all your inspiration, comments, prompt ideas and links for the last year and a bit! Don't forget to pop in from time to time to say hi and let me know how you are getting on with your art!

Kim Dellow Show your face sketch

This week I am posting a sketch and before you ask it was with my dominate hand even if it might not look it! I like the eye but I think the rest rather lets it down, I think the rest is too sketchy and doesn't match the style of the eye. I might try it again if I get the time.

Show Your Face changing hands sketch Kim Dellow

I've had another crack at changing my hands to draw a face, I thought I would swap to paint pens, I thought they might be a bit more forgiving than a fine tip marker pen! I think I just about got away with it!

Kim Dellow Face sketch for 14th July Show Your Face

Sketchy again from me this week and almost a doodle as I was working on some designs in my note book. It didn't take very long but I actually didn't time it. So I'm thinking around 2 minutes but knowing how I kind of get lost in what I am doing it could have easily been double that time!

My Share This Week...

Sketches of head selfie head positions by Kim Dellow

For my share this week I thought I would carry on with my pencil sketch studies from last week but I wanted to work from a model and not having a model to hand I thought I would take some selfies and work from them!

Mmm, not sure I have hit all the angles quite right, particularly the foreshortening of the middle photo. But now I have a series of photos to work from for practise.

My Share This Week...

I'm really glad that June suggested head positions for this month's prompt. I haven't really tried other views of the face than front, 3/4 or profile yet, so this prompt has given me a great excuse to push beyond my comfort zones a bit. This is very much a work in progress and just a bit of practice, I have no finished piece to show yet. I think I need more practice before I am happy to go further, but it is a start!

My Share This Week...

Kim Dellow face sketch in ball point pen on crackle paint

My share this week is a ball point pen sketch over crackle paint, unfortunately I don't remember whose crackle paint it is! I think it might be DecoArt Media. It is a tester page in my Junk Journal and I used a copper acrylic paint glaze over the top of the crackle.
