New video time and this week I thought I would share five art and craft hacks that I use regularly in my creative work. Some of the hacks will save you money, some will save you time and then there is even an acrylic painting technique you will want to try in there too!
I try to recycle a lot into my work too so if you are a big recycler as well then there are some ideas to help you re-purpose your domestic waste in this bunch of five hacks too. I've been asked before about some of the items I use in my videos again and again, so if you have ever wondered what these things are that keep appearing in my videos and where you can get them, then this video may give you those answers!
I hope you find these tips and tricks useful and if you do then I would be super grateful if you would just pop over to like my video on YouTube and leave me a comment to let me know which hack you are going to try. Thank You!
I've got some more art and craft hack videos planned so it is always nice to know if they will be useful to anyone. And of course feel free to share some of your favourite hacks too.

ReplyDeleteHi Kim
ReplyDeleteare these alu cups from the mince pies? :-)
Did you try so far bottle caps or glass jar lids for your painting?
I have a thing about corrugated board lately, so every parcel is saved LOL

Me again.... just watching the video now. Regarding to keep the work surface clean. I have on my work table plastic table cloths. They come cheap and last very long. I usually by them at Aldi or some place like that, they have them on offer once in a while. Or you can get them by the meter at home decor shops. When you only need to protect the surface for one project you can also use a cut up large bin bag.
ReplyDeleteThis way you don't have to worry that paints goes on the crisp white table surface. When you are doing videos/pictures just take it off.
And.. I was right about the mince pies LOL
Hiya Rena,
DeleteLOL! Well spotted on the mince pie tins! Plastic cover is a great tip! I've thought about using those vinyl table covers but I need them in place whilst filming and they are just too shiney. I need a matte version with less light reflection, that would be great! When I used to work in labs we had paper with a plastic backing and it was perfect for protecting tables but it is way too expensive unfortunately!
The jar lids are a great tip and I have given them a go, thanks again!
Have a fun rest of your week!

Hi Kim,
Deletespeaking of paper.... I can't remember if they sell somewhere paper table cloths, maybe where one can get party supplies... here in Germany one can buy them in a roll, like that brown parcel wrapping paper. Or why not use that brown caft paper? It is not very dark and everything would be good visible. Or how about cutting up a big card board box, using the inside?
When I can think of anything else I will let you know :-)
I guess the best would be trying what works best.
Greetings from rainy Germany

Yes, great ideas. Currently I'm using old packaging paper :)

What kind of bottle is the small tipped glue bottle you used and transfered the gell into? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the micro tip.
ReplyDeleteHey StarS, so it is an old bottle from the Cosmic Shimmer glues by Creative Expression and I just re-purposed it into my gel bottle once it was finished. But you can also find empty bottles with fine tips on amazon.
DeleteHope that helps.
