Kraft Paper Abstract Art Journal Pages

Kraft Paper art journal pages, Abstract 1 by Kim Dellow

I've always been a big fan of Kraft, I think it is one of my favourite papers. So I could not resist the Clairefontaine pad when I spotted it at Curtisward (you can find it on Amazon too). This pad is the same paper that you can buy in rolls to wrap packages with but it comes as 100 flat sheets glued along one short edge and perfect for some Kraft paper abstract art journal pages.

This paper is lightweight, around 90 gsm (41 lb) but as it is Kraft it is fibrous so quite resilient. It will take paints and mediums but you will get some buckling if you use too much, so if that bothers you then bear it in mind.

When I started in this pad I just could not stop so I've made quite a few Kraft paper abstracts!

I stuck to a simple colour palate and just a few products to make a cohesive collection of pages and played with some of the shapes and mark making that I've been enjoying playing with recently.

The thin black marks are from the Sakura Pigma Micron 0.5 pen and the thicker from the Sakura Pigma Brush pen. The lime green was FW Pearlescent acrylic ink and the pink was magenta acrylic paint from the Sennelier Abstract range. I also added some baking paper and flyer paper with Golden Regular gel or Liquitex clear gesso.

So how about you? Are you a Kraft fan? If you have done any Kraft-based projects recently I would love to see them so do place a link to them in the comments below or share them with me on social media and I will come and take a look!

  1. I love kraft soooooo much. In fact ... I know it's strange but ... I even like the smell of it when it's wet. Don't tell anyone ... I love that you're continuing in the Basqiat circles vibe that we spoke about before!
