Make The Day Special And Kuretake

Ok so who stole Monday? It disappeared and suddenly we are in Tuesday - which one of you took it? Oh look there it is, it slipped under the cushions on the sofa - D'oh!

Phew - well now we are back in order here is my Tuesday make and this week I've used Make The Day Special stamps with Kuretake colouring and stamping to give:

The background Gingham stamp is one of the Unity {Ippity} Fall 2010 releases and you can get an idea of the coverage of the stamp as it is mounted on an A6 sized card.

I used ZIG Art and Graphic Twin 29 (which is a red) directly onto the stamp with touches of Antique Burgundy from the ZIG Calligraphy range and stamped it onto white card.

The woman is the 'You Are Loved' stamp from the Unity Suzi Blu range that you can get from Make The Day Special.

I've coloured her with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens with a couple of touches here and there of the ZIG Calligraphy pens.

A quick tip for you - the ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens work perfectly for changing colours of ribbons, I've used some Seam Binding Ribbon from Ribbon Girl coloured with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin 29 to get a matching ribbon, and if you are like me and are challenged in the bow-tying department then remember to check out the Bow-Easy template.

Right, I better get on and try not to lose Tuesday down the back of the sofa too!

Have a fabulous day you all!

Sunday Round-Up

Hey Guys, thought that I would do a Sunday round up today and catch up on some lovely links and RAKs I've been getting from folks and share a bit of blogging love to support my fellow makers.

So I shall kick off immediately with a lovely bit of makery from my DoCrafts buddy Kissinia. Kissinia and I are kindred spirits with our love of corrugated card and if you have a moment pop on over to Kissinia's lovely Blue Birdie blog to see a fabulous bit of texture on her recent makes!

Another kindred spirit with adding a bit of texture with corrugated card is my fellow Make The Day Special DT member She from her yummy blog Rubber Addict. I was lucky enough to win this lovely RAK from She:

The next RAKs I wanted to share with you both come from the recent One World One Heart event that I took part in this year.

The first one was a collection of fabulous Polymer clay makes that I received from Pat Haight from The Wigglebutt Blog. Pat sells her makes through her Etsy shop Wigglebutt Clay.

The next OWOH RAK was some beautiful photographic prints and cards from Shauna and her blog Whispering Mists. Shauna sells her makes through her Etsy shop Whispering Mists.

Thanks for popping by and have fun hopping around the blogs today.

Catch you all later.

Circle Flowers For An Anniversary

Hi Guys got a little make for you today that is just perfect for using up those little bits of paper so that you can have an excuse to buy lots of new paper of course! Which is lucky because Elaine has been adding some lovely new papers to Quixotic Paperie!

I've used the Fancy Pants Rusted Sun paper for the flower and leaves and added a button and some embroidery thread to finish the flower.

I've had a request to show how I make this little circle flower, they are one of my favourites so you will see them a lot on my blog from time to time! So if you haven't made one of these before here is a very quick how to:

You will need:
Patterned paper, embossing tool and mat and something to make circles with such as a template or your nesties or you can use bottles to draw around if you don't have anything else.

Cut out three circles from the patterned paper and have them decreasing in size so that they fit inside one another. The cutting doesn't have to be perfect as you can distress the edges (I've used my favourite paper distressor a seam ripper/ unpicker).

Using a foam mat as support, mould the circles into shallow bowl shapes by rubbing the large end of an embossing tool in the centre of the circle and working in circles move out to the edges. You will have to vary the pressure depending on the thickness of your paper. If your paper is thin then only use slight pressure.

Cut a couple for leaf shapes, distress the edges and mould just as before. I stick mine together with silicone glue but you can use tapes or other glues just as easily.

There you go, a little circle flower.

Hope you have a Saturday full of flowers.

Cute Card Thursday - Music

It is Cute Card Thursday and this week the challenge is Music and the sponsors are the lovely Alota Rubber Stamps (which you can also find in Quixotic Paperie).

So for my music inspired make I thought I would use the super cute Newton bear from Rory Tyger and as he is eating popcorn I thought I would add some Tim Holtz film ribbon and some music and make it a Film Music or Music Score themed make!

He is just the cutest!

Well have a music filled Thursday.

$1 Digi-stamp AND Helping Japan?

Yep! Mo Manning is offering this super cute little cook for $1 on her new Mo's Digital Pencil e-shop and is giving all the proceeds from this cutey, whilst it is on sale, to help Japan

As of around 10pm on the 15th March Mo had already donated $200 to Global Giving - but I'm sure we can do better than that!

Well worth checking out!

Birthday In Blue

Got a little birthday card to show today and I've used the theme of this week's Shades of Blue challenge from Happy Daze on Facebook as inspiration for this one.

I've been making backgrounds again, this time I've used the paper collage with acrylic paint instead of ink as in the Nature inspired card I showed last Friday.

A number of folk have asked how I make these backgrounds so I'm planning to take some photos of the process and get them posted on the blog - so keep your eyes peeled if you are interested!

Have a great Wednesday.

My Cute Stamp Skinny Invites

My Make The Day Special make this week is a little different,  I thought I would try experimenting with a different format by making some little skinny invite cards. They only measure 4 cm by 10.5cm (~ 1.5 inch by 4.1 inch) so very slender indeed!

The My Cute Stamp Birthday kit is perfect for these little cards I thought.

Ok so you would have to write really small on the inside but for every one A6 sized card you can get three invites, so at least you get to invite lots of people to your party!

I'm sure there is some logic in there somewhere.

Have a fun Tuesday.

Mother's Day Cards

Monday is La-La Land Crafts day and I've been making Mother's Day cards again.

I've made a heart shaped card and used the lovely La-La Land Crafts Fancy Marci which you can get as either a Digi-stamp or a Rubber Stamp.

Very cute!

I used the Decoration Corner punch from Kuretake to make a 'lace' ribbon and I made a little Sakura blossom with the Kurepunch small Sakura petal and the Kurepunch small Windmill as the flower centre with a little acrylic gem.

It's a little Sakura thought for all those effected by the tragedy in Japan and the surrounding area hit by the earthquake and tsunami.

Love and hope to all.

Some Spring Inspiration

The Spring cards are on the Crafty blogs and the Daffodils and Crocuses are pushing through the earth, so I think we are almost there, the Spring Equinox is on it's way!

If you are looking for a bit of Spring inspiration and colour I hope this little field of Spring Sunshine fits the bill!

Take care of yourselves this Saturday.

Born To Fly On A Friday

Hey Guy's got some Friday Flying to show you today, it is the DT make I did for Make The Day Special this week, this is the first chance I've had to show you it here.

I got all inky fingered for this one so I thought, seeing as it has a Nature theme it would be perfect for Hels' Sunday Stampers Challenge this week.

The Swallow stamp from the Unity Life Become Kit which is one of the Kits on special offer over at Make The Day Special.

To make up the background I also used one of the grasses from the Unity Insightful Meadow Stamp Kit.

Hope you have a flyingly good Friday!

It's Cute Card Thursday's Birthday

It's Cute Card Thursday and this week it is all about Birthdays as it is the CCT 3rd Birthday today! You can find out more about this week's sponsor by hoping over to Cute Card Thursday.

As it is CCT's birthday to celebrate I've gone bright and bold with the gorgeous Rusted Sun From Fancy Pants.

The image is one of the new Victoria Case stamps from SCACD, she is called 'Hot Stuff' - I love the retro look to these new stamps.

I've also used my Sew Easy to add a few stitching details and the lovely Doily Die from the Marianne D Creatables.

Hope you have a lovely Bright Day today!

Busy Hands Journal Page

Been getting all messy again and I thought - time for a Journal page! As you do!

After my sketching and colouring with Kuretake pens for my Blossom page I just wanted to do more journaling with Kuretake pens but this time I thought I would try some photograph altering and writing.

I added texture to the background with some tea staining, and scraps of paper and card. The writing and doodle lines are done with the ZIG Opaque Writer pens - which are just perfect for journaling. I might have made up a few words as well!

The photograph was great fun to alter with some scratching and ZIG Photo Twin Pens. It was also great fun trying not to get paint all over my camera when I took the picture of my hand! Eeek!

Have a lovely messy day.

A little bit of sweetness today from Sweetheart Marci. You can get her as a Rubber Stamp or a Digi-Stamp, so lots of choice!

I've used her on Kraft card and coloured her with Prismacolor pencils. The corners of the image were punched with the Kuretake Corner punch.
