Five Things To Do With....Flat-Backed Pearls

Hey All, got something a little different for you today.

Elaine from Quixotic Cards challenged me to use flat-backed pearls in five different ways. She gave me two weeks to do it and I took a month! So I've failed already but I thought I would show you anyway LOL!

All the pearls are available from Quixotic Paperie in lots of scrummy colours and lots of different shapes and sizes.

I had initially thought that I would do five different cards with five different uses for the flat-backed pearls but then I just got a bit carried away and crammed all the uses on the same card!

The card used some Hot Off The Press papers with a little bit of the Basic Grey Sugar Rush papers. The image is CC Designs Swiss Miss Rosalie coloured with PrismaColor pencils and highlighted Sakura Gelly Roll Clear Stardust pen.

Uses One and Two:
I've used these 3mm metallic silver flat-backed pearls as Rosalie's buttons and as a little accent on the side of the image.

Use Three:
Some 4mm red Flat-backed pearls to add balance to the card.

Use Four:
The 4mm and 8mm flat-backed pearls as flower centres.

Use Five:
Ok a little weird this one but I wanted to add some paint to the background paper and thought I would play with using the pearls to make marks. So I covered some cardboard with a thin layer of silicone glue and added some of the 4mm flat-backed pearls and let it dry to make a flat-backed pearls stamp!

Then I added acrylic paint and dragged it across the paper. Followed this with a bit of sparkle using Fire-engine red Shimmerz paint and Pixie dust Shimmerz Blingz using my ad hoc flat-backed pearl stamp :)

Well I had a lot of fun with this, once I started I kept coming up with different uses for the flat-backed pearls there is so much you can do with them.

I would absolutely love to hear how you use yours.

Right, now I have to pass the baton over to Elaine and set her a 'Five Things To Do With' Challenge and I was thinking I would love to see what she does with the fabulous Bazzill Jewels Templates...Over to you Elaine :)

Have a Pearly day
Kim

Ink - Versefine Onyz
Colouring - PrismaColor Pencils; Sansodor

Quixotic Paperie Challenge Blog Challenge No. 16

A new challenge from Quixotic Paperie Challenge blog for you today and this week it is:

Leaves It Out!

Well actually what we want is for you to 'leaves' it in - or in other words add leaves to your projects :) Ok so it was a very poor pun on words chosen by me!

My project has quite a few leaves in it! Well first there is the leaves in the image which is the gorgeous CC Designs Sweet November Fruit of the Month Grape.

Second you could perhaps say that the flowers on the backing paper could be leaves? What do you think? They could be clover leaves perhaps? Well the papers are from the Cosmo Cricket Earth Love paper pack and I've distressed the edges a bit with distress inks.

The image is coloured with PrismaColor pencils and I've used Glossy Accents on her dress. I've carefully highlighted each of the grapes individually with the glue as I wanted to give the skirt dimension in keeping with the design.

Glossy Accents is great as it only goes where you put it. I've tried other dimension glues but Glossy Accents work beautifully.

The bow was made with the Bow-Easy Template and I did a double bow. What do you think? That Bow-Easy sure does work! Yeah I know I've said that before LOL!

The charm is the large Toadstool available at Quixotic Paperie, oh and if you have a look at the card you will see some flat-backed pearls on it too! Packed it all this week!

There is a third set to leaves in my make... I used a die-cut leaf to mask off bits of the backing card for the image then inked around the leaf to give a negative image.

Gosh that was a long post for me!
I will let you get on with what you were doing :)
Have fun!
Kim

How is your Quixotic Paperie Challenge make going? This week it is all about making

Something For Mum

I've made a little bookmark using the really, really cute CC Designs Itzy Inkies Flower Power set available at Quixotic Paperie.

I've kept it thin and not overly embellished so it will fit nicely into a book! Well after my last mistake of trying to make a bookmark and putting so much on it that I had to make it into a hanger LOL!

I've used yummy Cosmo Cricket Earth Love papers and some fabulous flat back pearls and Stickles glue in the flower centre to finish the bookmark.

(btw did I say how really cute the CC Designs Itzy Inkies Flower Power set is?)

I'm Going To Eat You Little Fishy!

Make The Day Special {Ippity} Stamps day here on my blog and this week I've been able to play with one of the fab stamp sets from the new release.

There are eight new stamp sets in the release all available from Make The Day Special and all just gorgeous (I'm sure I've probably said that already - tee hee!).

My make today uses stamps from Fishy Philosophy. I've stamped one of the pond weeds onto light kraft paper. The layers are all fabrics and get this - The blue fabric is from an old cushion that I re-purposed and dyed myself! (Ok so I'm easily impressed LOL!)

The little fishy has been stamped onto white paper and coloured with PrismaColor pencils. I then smeared with glitter and covered with Glossy Accents to get a really sparkly fishy.

Don't forget that Emily has a stamp set from the new release as Blog Candy on her blog {Ippity} Inspiration - Yum!

Hope you have a swimmingly good Friday.
Kim
