Sunday Round-Up

Hi Diddly Ho Bloggers how is your Sunday going?

We are recovering here, taking it a bit easy after a fabulous afternoon playing with four very active small nephews yesterday, think that was our workout for the week! Not sure I have the energy for any crafting today so I'm just doing some catching up on tinternetty things, finding out what is trending on Twitter, reading those things made from paper - erm books that's what I think they call them. You know the sort of Sunday pursuits sort of thing?

Maybe even some blog hopping?

Talking of blog hopping if you are having a blog hopping Sunday you might want to add the fabulous The Glitter Chick Juls to your hop list if you haven't popped on over there already. You remember the clean and simple (CAS) card I posted on Tuesday? Well it hit a chord with Juls and she expanded the idea to two wonderful themed cards that are so cute - Love them!

So before I hop off, got a heads-up for you guys on the look out for your crafty magazines  Papercraft Essentials Issue 70 has a fun 5 Quick Tricks with Flock article from me.

Papercraft Essentials 70

I had a real hard think about this one and hope that you will be nicely surprised with some of the tricks and that they help kick start some different ways of using your flock! I will say no more but I hope you enjoy :)

Have a lovely Sunday.

Sunday Round-Up

Happy Sunday my bloggy friends and neighbours, it has been a fun and busy week here at Studio Crafty Makes and I have a bloggy wave and a magazine article update for you all today.

But before I tell you about them you might want to tune into some new 'Crafting With Kuretake' shows on Create and Craft tomorrow, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm, showcasing some yummy ZIG pens. I'll show you some of my recent samples I made for Kuretake in the week but thought you might just want a heads-up for the shows. In the last 'Crafting With Kuretake' shows Steph did some great demos with the pens, worth watching just for the demos.

You can watch the shows on Freeview 36; Freesat 813; Sky 671 or online at the Create and Craft website.

So the next bit of news and one to look out for is Simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine Issue 86

I've got a social network inspired article in this month to help you get down with the kids - said whilst throwing some gang signs of course. Luckily you can not see me doing that as it always causes much hilarity from boyfriend who despairs at my total lack of street cred!

Luckily I hangout on Facebook and Twitter enough to keep up to date with what is going on in the world LOL!

Hope you enjoy the article!

So it is Sunday, time for some hopping and I have another fabulous blog to share with you this week. Have you seen the lovely blog Bumblebees and Butterflies belonging to Brenda Brown? Brenda has a lovely mix of grunge, inky and mixed media papercraft projects on her blog. Check out her lovely ATC using the Collage Background technique, love the way all the layers come together and fabulous use of vellum!

Have a wonderful Sunday all you wonderful crafty fluff bundles!

Sunday Round-Up

This is a first for me, I can say this week 'As Seen On TV' and what a thrill! It was quite surreal seeing something that you have made on national TV!

For those of you who missed my Friday post, Steph from Kuretake was demoing lots of yummy ZIG pens on Create and Craft and the design team had made samples to go
with the pens.

I mean it is quite surreal seeing something you have made sitting on the cover of a magazine in the newsagents, when this first happened I wanted to stand in front of the magazine and go 'I did that!' to anyone who happened past. I suppressed the urge and put on a professional face, kept the jumping up and down for home!

So imagine, seeing your makes on TV - dude! Yep, I have taped it. Steph and Buffy had put together a fabulous couple of shows and it was great to see the pens in action.

(Sorry for the rather rubbish screen shots of some of the makes, but you get the idea)

Ok so I'm off the ceiling now and knuckling down to more work to keep me grounded!

Before I come completely down to earth I just thought I would share an article from the current Papercraft Essentials, issue 69. Got some fun Summer Party makes for you in this issue with a masterclass in both hand and machine stitching.

Lots of little projects, cards and tips in this one and some different stitching for you too! I've got some teasey teasers:

(btw the little box uses one of the Kuretake Gift box templates)

Just a little taster and I hope you like the article and find it useful! It was another article I loved putting together. But then I love doing them all.

Sunday Hopping:
Before I go I have some links that you might like to add to your Sunday hopping list. The first wonderful blog is that of Milla at Mustesormi

Milla makes gorgeous cards and papercraft projects and is another crafter after my own heart who loves her texture and making backgrounds. You should take a look at the wonderful make she has done with my recent sweet wrapper background tutorial - wow! Then there is the fabulous makes inspired by the collage background tutorial here and here. Love them!

The next fabby blog belongs to ManLe Hong of Pineapple Cove Designs and has a wonderful card made using my Sew Easy circle tutorial.

I don't know about you but I just love seeing all this creativity that everyone is up to!

Have a fabulously creative day.

Sunday Round-Up

Ahh Sunday, Sunday and what are you all up to this Sunday?

Hopefully something fun and creative?

I'm working on a couple of projects that I hope to show you soon. I've had my sewing machine and paints out for the first project which you will be seeing very soon.

If any of you guys are interested in using watercolour marker pens such as the ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens to make affective textured watercolour backgrounds for cards then you might want to pick up Issue 85 of Simply Cards and Papercrafts

Look I'm on the cover too! Well you can't see it in the bag as the free gift is in front of it LOL! But still it's the cover!

I've nicked this close up piccy from Elaine - you can see the Paper MakeUp Stamps Nature's Song stamps I used!

For you guys looking for some interesting links to hop on over to this Sunday then check out the yummy Blog Candy over at Anika's blog Anikraft.

Also if you are interested in getting published Anika has a readers' challenges submission call on her blog for the German Magazine Just Stamps. But that is not all! You should take some time to check out Anika's blog as you are there - she has some gorgeous makes!

Well that is Sunday sorted!

I best be off to get some creating done.

Have fun sugarplums.

Sunday Round-Up

Hey Guys how are you all doing this week?

I had a bit of quiet week creatively speaking. For some reason I was finding it hard to create, just one of those weeks when the ideas just weren't flowing so I didn't manage to achieve my goals for the week.

But I have got some Sunday Round Up news for you today. You guys who get Papercraft Essentials will have spotted something from me on page 24 in the new issue just out, Issue 68.

Oh boy did I have fun with this one! I got a little carried away with the commission remit which was '5 Quick Tips with Distress Ink' and if you have a look at the article you will find it crammed with a lot more than 5 tips and ideas!

Here is just a little sneaky peek of some of what you will find:

Sorry guys that is all I can show you! You know I would love to show you more but you will just have to buy Papercraft Essentials to see it!

Before I go today I have another lovely blog to recommend to you this week it is the beautiful blog of Janine - Jeany's Brunnen

Janine has been making good use of the circle flower tutorial I post and has made some gorgeous variations of them. But have a look at what else she is up to in this post. I just love those bubble backgrounds - so going to have to try that! Thanks Janine!

Right I'm off to do some creating (I hope).
Catch you guys later and hope you have a creative week!

Sunday Round-Up

Well would you believe it, May 1st is with us and I'm starting to wonder how my goals for this year are going. So I thought as well as Spring cleaning my workspace I might Spring clean my mental space too!

Mmm this might take a bit of doing as it requires me to set some time aside to actually do some thinking and reassessing. Ok so this is going to be a work in progress as there always seems to be something around to distract me. Like Pinterest for example.

Oh boy a new online obsessions for me to procrastinate with and I thought that Twitter and Facebook were bad enough! But now I get to keep all of those piccies that make my heart sing in an easily accessible place. Which means I'm spending my time searching for gorgeous inspiration and not actually working on my goals. Hey ho!

...................

I need HELP! Got any tips for keeping away from the procrastination?

Wot? Turn off the computer you say? B-U-T  I  C-A-N'T! NOT THE COMP-U-TER!

....................

Before I go a searching for more piccies a little shout out to the guys over at Deze is Ook Leuk:

Which I think means 'This Is Fun' (thanks Google Translate!).

If you haven't checked these guys out it is well worth a look-see as they have a fabulous collection of crafty tips, tutorials, ideas and inspiration links all in one place - very useful.

They were kind enough to pick my tutorial for the Circle Flowers to add to their link collection - thank guys! I'm honoured to be in your group!

Well the photos are calling...catch you on Pinterest!

Sunday Round-Up

Hello My Sunday Fluff Bundles, how are you all doing? I've been a little missing in action this week and my blog has been a little quiet which is unusual for me but life does have a habit of stopping us from blogging from time to time doesn't it?!

Well I'm playing a bit of catch up and hopefully normal services will be resumed shortly. In the meantime I have some news to share. I have an article in the new issue of Papercraft Essentials that should be in the shops by now as it came out last Thursday.

I'm not able to show you the cards but if you have very sharp eyesight and a magnifying glass you might spot the cards on the cover:

Ok so they are a little tiny on the cover LOL! But you might have spotted that the article is about using different colouring mediums such as using the solvent based markers like Copic pens and Promarkers, watercolours like Rangers Distress inks and ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens and using pencils like the Prismacolor pencils. The article also covers the best papers to use for each and tips for colouring.

I've used the gorgeous La-La Land Crafts Luka and Marci stamps. The article uses the digi-stamps specifically but all the techniques are applicable with rubber stamping too!

Here are a couple of sneaky peeks :)

It was another article I really enjoyed putting together so I hope you guys who get Papercraft Essentials find it helpful :)

Right, well I have lots of DT makes, some commissions and sorting my craft space to do (Eeek!) so I better crack on.

Have fabulous fluffy Sundays.

Sunday Round-Up

Hey Guys, how is your weekend going? I'm seething with jealous of all you folks who have been going to Ally Pally for the Big Stamp and Scrapbook Show this weekend! Ok so you better all come back saying that none of the retailers were there and you didn't buy any fabulous new products!

If you had fun, found lots of hard to get things at cheap prices, learnt lots of new things and met lots of lovely bloggers and crafty friends I just don't want to hear it! Phooey!

Ok - it's safe, you can come back - princess tantrum is over!

You might have guessed I couldn't make it to Ally Pally this weekend, but I'm not thinking about it at all as you can all tell. My grumpy alter ego above is of course the Angry Ballerina from Kraftin Kimmies stamps :)

Well to cheer myself up I thought that I would share some more beautiful blogs with you all today.

I wanted to share some gorgeously fun makes from two of my Kuretake DT friends. Back in March when I met Emma, Sarah and Buffy from Kuretake, Buffy was kind enough to give us some Kuretake templates to make gift boxes with. Sarah jokingly said that she was going to use hers to make Royal Wedding Favours boxes.

Well both Sarah and Emma have taken up the Royal Wedding stationery challenge and you can see the results on their fabulous blogs: Sarah's on Sarah Hurley and Emma's on That's Life.

Whilst you are having a nosey at Emma's and Sarah's blogs you might like to pop in on Dee Paramour who has been playing with the Kuretake Alcohol Inks and making tutorial videos! Fun!

Another blog that if you haven't seen already you really must go look at is that of Sarah Engels-Greer. Sarah has a wonderful eye for the shabby chic, vintage, distressed and contemporary design and her makes often take my breath away. She recently was very kind to say that she was inspired by my circle flowers tutorial and you really should have a look at how she has taken them to the next level. Love!

Have a lovely Sunday and enjoy your blog hopping!

Sunday Round-Up

Sunday, Sunday and what are you up to this Sunday?

For all the Mothers in the UK (and anywhere else that has Mothering Sunday today!)
HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!

Have you seen the new issue of Craft Stamper yet? My Quixotic Paperie DT buddies Judy and Kim Costello both have lovely articles and look Judy's gorgeous card is on the cover! Well done girls!

I have a little make in this month's issue too, it is only a little ATC in the Idea Gallery on page 52! Here is a little sneaky peek:

I used Unity and {Ippity} stamps available from Emily at Make The Day Special. The sparkle is added with some ZIG Wink Of Stella.

Have a lovely Sunday.

Sunday Round-Up

Hey Guys, thought that I would do a Sunday round up today and catch up on some lovely links and RAKs I've been getting from folks and share a bit of blogging love to support my fellow makers.

So I shall kick off immediately with a lovely bit of makery from my DoCrafts buddy Kissinia. Kissinia and I are kindred spirits with our love of corrugated card and if you have a moment pop on over to Kissinia's lovely Blue Birdie blog to see a fabulous bit of texture on her recent makes!

Another kindred spirit with adding a bit of texture with corrugated card is my fellow Make The Day Special DT member She from her yummy blog Rubber Addict. I was lucky enough to win this lovely RAK from She:

The next RAKs I wanted to share with you both come from the recent One World One Heart event that I took part in this year.

The first one was a collection of fabulous Polymer clay makes that I received from Pat Haight from The Wigglebutt Blog. Pat sells her makes through her Etsy shop Wigglebutt Clay.

The next OWOH RAK was some beautiful photographic prints and cards from Shauna and her blog Whispering Mists. Shauna sells her makes through her Etsy shop Whispering Mists.

Thanks for popping by and have fun hopping around the blogs today.

Catch you all later.

Sunday Round-Up

I've got that Sunday feeling, what shall I do today?

Well the first thing I thought I would do is post up a little freebie for you to use in your art.

It is a gesso altered book page that I've used in my blog banner and I thought that perhaps you guys might find some interesting creative uses for it so please feel free to take it.

Gesso Altered Book Page Freebie

To download, right button click on the picture to open in a new tab and
you can then save it to your computer.
(It is around 300KB)

If you use it or know someone who would like it then please link to my blog so that others can pick it up themselves - thanks.

I would love to see how you use it, so let me know and I'll pop over to your blog to have a nosy look.

Ok so that was the main bit I wanted to do in my Sunday Round Up this week, but before I go if you happen to have a copy of the current issue of Papercraft Essentials PE65 then look me up, pg 64.

I've got an article using moving images :)

Have a fun, creative Sunday.

Sunday Round-Up

One of the things I LOVE about this Arty, Crafty Blogging journey is the wonderful and generous people I have met along the way.

For instance I have recently been sent some lovely Random Acts of Kindness (RAK), the first one from the fabulous Tatiana from Scrap Domna blogging in Russia. We recently swapped ATC's and look at the fabulous interactive ATC she sent me:

Love it! Notice that I've set the mood-meter on 'I'm going to eat chocolate' - well a girl can wish can't she?

Tatiana also sent me a wonderful Christmas card but because of our problems with the mail I didn't get it until January! Also in the RAK was a wonderful old Russian coin which is now one of my prized possessions! Thank you so much Tatiana!

My second RAK was a gorgeous thank you card from the wonderful Kevin over at McCrafty's Cards:

What a beauty! Kevin won my recent blog candy and used the stamp on this beautiful card! Thank you Kevin she is sitting on my windowsill at this very minute.

I'm feeling very lucky!

Another thing I LOVE about Arty, Crafty blogging is how we all get inspired and pass on inspiration on our journey. You might remember my mixed media tags for Make The Day Special recently:

I was tickled pink to be told that my tags inspired other people in some of their makes. The first up is my Make The Day Special DT buddy She who made the beautiful tag you can find on her blog Rubber Addict. The next make inspired by these tags is the wonderful Shrine you can find made by Lesley over at Harmony Road Studio.

Gorgeous work! Do pop to their blogs and share some love!

What a lovely and supportive Arty, Crafty community we are building! I'm always blown away by the amazing art that people do and I have learnt so much from everyone, it is lovely to be able to pass it all on as well.

Before I leave you to your Sundays I just have two more things to mention.

If you have your March Craft Stamper you might have spotted lots of makes using stamps from Make The Day Special, one of them from little old me!

It's another in the my line of handmade Art Journals, which I'm quite into at the moment, you can see another one on my One World One Heart post.

That brings me neatly to the last thing I was going to post about today and that is the One World One Heart (OWOH) event.

So we were talking about the Arty, Crafty blogging community, well OWOH is just a fabulous event to meet new art and craft people.

If you have some time and are looking for some new inspiration then pop on over to Lisa's blog for the participant list. You can just browse through the blogs or if you like there is still time to sign your blog up too.

As added incentive each blog is giving away a 'door prize' and for my giveaway just pop on over to my OWOH post to sign up!

Enjoy the rest of your Creative Sunday.
