VIDEO: Art Slice March Round-Up

Flower pattern on watercolour dots by Kim Dellow

April is here and so is my March Art Slice video round-up ready for a bit of creative inspiration to help get you excited and buzzing for some art making over the weekend I hope!

It's a mixed batch of illustrative, pattern and mixed media this month so I hope you find something that makes you feel like sharpening your pencils, breaking open the paint or grabbing for your stencils!

Hand Drawn Surface Pattern

Last month found me experimenting with pattern with this hand drawn repeat element. I did set down a pencil grid to help guide the pen work but I don't think the camera quite picks it up. If you were here on Wednesday you will have seen another version of this pattern in the Watercolour and Pen project video share.

Supplies:
Sakura Micron Pigma pen 05
Bristol Board
Pencil 2B
Ruler

Stencil Rubbing With Watersoluble Pencils and Crayons

I shared a fun technique that is great for using with stencils in my second art slice for March. It is such a fun technique and a super quick way to cover a page with pattern and colour.

Supplies:
StencilGirl Loopy Ladders stencil L434
Caran D'Ache Neocolor II
Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils Albrecht Durer
Derwent Inktense Blocks
Fabriano Accademia Artist Paperpack 200 sheets 120 gsm
Water spray

Gouache Spring Pattern

Yay Spring and a Spring-inspired pattern using Gouache paints was the third art slice for March.

Supplies:
Gouache Paint
Mixed Media paper
Brushes

Brush Pen Flowers On A Watercolour Dot Background

Spotted the subtle title change? I'm trying out some new video title pages at the moment, what do you think?

So this art slice was a pattern share again but more of an organic pattern than the planned and guided pattern that started the month's shares.

Supplies:
Khadi sketchbook
Jacksons Art Raven Brush
Tombow Brush pen
Prima Marketing watercolours

Under The Sea Watercolour And Ink

Finally a bit of sea-inspired fun with this watercolour and pen illustration.

Supplies:
Khadi sketchbook
Daniel Smith Watercolours
Sakura Pigma Pen
Magic Sponge
Jacksons Art Raven Brush

What creative plans do you have for this weekend? Any projects you are just itching to do? Let me know in the comments below what you have planned and don't forget that my new Art Slice for this week will be out at 1pm (BST) on YouTube so go and subscribe and turn on the notifications to be the first to see it.
