Sassy Crafts DT Call

I thought I might have a go at the DT call going on for Sassy Crafts. The challenge is to make three projects as outlined on the Sassy Crafts blog:

1 - A stamped project:
A new Christmas card for you.

2 - A favourite piece
It is difficult to pick a favourite piece, my thoughts change daily on the matter! But here is one I made a few months ago. I love how the embossing works on the designer paper and highlighted with inks. Then there was the fun I had with the flower, wire, tab and beads as well.

Rock It With Kaboodle Doodle Challenge Eight

The challenge over at Kaboodle Doodle is Rock and Roll. So get your thinking caps on. You can use anything that makes you think of Rock and Roll in your project - well for me that is guitars. I used this Sugar Nellie stamp and the fabby Halloween Kit from Kaboodle Doodle for my creation. The embellishment is a beer bottle top from my scavenging activities.

Gorgeous Papers

We all love beautiful papers don't we? Have you seen the papers from Webster's Pages? This was one of those blog-hopping accidental finds, the papers are stunning but I haven't quite worked out how to get them in the UK.

It Is Going To Be A Pink Christmas

The Christmas cards are coming along slowly.... I've made one or two - is it cheating to use leftovers from last year?

I'm loving distressing papers at the moment. I don't have a specialised tool such as the Tim Holtz widgit or the Heidi Swapp pacman (don't you think it looks just like a pink pacman?) but I do sew and my seam ripper does the trick and is a lot cheaper and easier to get hold of seeing as any haberdashery shop should have one.

The lovely stamped image is one of Alison Acton's lovely illustrations available from Whiff of Joy and was coloured using my Derwent colour pencils and sansodor to blend. Glitter glue finished the trim and silver metallic gel pen for the bell on the Cat's ribbon. The sentiment was also coloured with the pencils.

For the background I used a 4" by 4" piece of textured card cut into smaller pieces and coloured with the same pencils and blending technique as for the stamped image. The outside edge of the 4" by 4" was over-stamped with the HOTP swirl in silver. Finally each edge of the smaller pieces was distressed with the seam ripper.

The Challenge That Keeps on Giving.....

In the Summer I joined in a fab challenge run by Susan Daly. Susan sent me, and others around the blogosphere, some fabby Stampin'Up goodies with the idea that we make some projects with the goodies and blog them. In my last blog one of the comments I got suggested using the paper for a Christmas card - What a good idea - so here you are.

A quick make card for general use here with the lovely Bewitching kit from Designs by Krista. I think I might have said before that I love the papers in this kit.

Feeling a little nervous today - I have to go to get my first ever filling at the dentist - I had hoped that I would get to forty with no fillings but just missed the mark by 1 year 5 months - Boooooo!

Kaboodle Doodle the Seventh

New Home Cards

For some reason I really like making new home cards. I don't know why but I just do.

Forgive me for the rubbish photograph but the front of the card is meant to look like the view from inside the house. Inside the card, and you could see it through the 'window' if it wasn't for the light glare, there is a sentiment written in the same paper as the 'wallpaper'.

More Christmas Cards

Another Christmas card, this one is for the Basic Grey challenge blog which this week is all about the Scallops. All the scallops have been hand scalloped (is that a verb? I scallop, you scallop, he scallops, we all scallop) using a circle template, scissors and craft knife and can be found on the long sides of the patterned paper, the circle with the poinsettia mounted upon it and then the bottom of the card itself. Do you think that is enough scalloping for one card?

Help Publish a book

Been doing a bit of blog hopping and came across PennyDog Jewellery Blog which belongs to Kerry and has some beautiful resin jewellery on it which she sells.

Kerry is trying to get a book published but the publisher does not think that there is a market for learning about Resin Jewellery in the UK so she is trying to get a vote up and to help it along she has one of her beautiful Ice rings as candy to a lucky commenter.

Well I don't know about you but I love crafting books and love to learn new skills so go add your name here and hopefully we will see this book soon.

Tilda Challenge

Here is one for this week's Tilda and Co. challenge which has a sketch for us all to have a go at. I've used a complete mix of papers here and the ribbon with buckle is from the Oh La La kit by Designs by Krista.

I wanted some dimension and texture in this one so the underlying oval is scrunched up and inked. The Papermania exquisite paper has been glitter glued to highlight the flourishes and then attached to the background with double sided tape in the centre rather than the edges so that they can lift away from the purple background. Each layer has been edged with ink and then silicon glued to just lift it a little.
