Rock It With Kaboodle Doodle Challenge Eight

The challenge over at Kaboodle Doodle is Rock and Roll. So get your thinking caps on. You can use anything that makes you think of Rock and Roll in your project - well for me that is guitars. I used this Sugar Nellie stamp and the fabby Halloween Kit from Kaboodle Doodle for my creation. The embellishment is a beer bottle top from my scavenging activities.

Papers - Kaboodle Doodle Halloween Kit
Stamp - Sugar Nellie; Studio G Alphabet
Colouring - Letraset Promarkers

It Is Going To Be A Pink Christmas

The Christmas cards are coming along slowly.... I've made one or two - is it cheating to use leftovers from last year?

I'm loving distressing papers at the moment. I don't have a specialised tool such as the Tim Holtz widgit or the Heidi Swapp pacman (don't you think it looks just like a pink pacman?) but I do sew and my seam ripper does the trick and is a lot cheaper and easier to get hold of seeing as any haberdashery shop should have one.

The lovely stamped image is one of Alison Acton's lovely illustrations available from Whiff of Joy and was coloured using my Derwent colour pencils and sansodor to blend. Glitter glue finished the trim and silver metallic gel pen for the bell on the Cat's ribbon. The sentiment was also coloured with the pencils.

For the background I used a 4" by 4" piece of textured card cut into smaller pieces and coloured with the same pencils and blending technique as for the stamped image. The outside edge of the 4" by 4" was over-stamped with the HOTP swirl in silver. Finally each edge of the smaller pieces was distressed with the seam ripper.

Materials:
Stamp - Whiff of Joy; HOTP Sentiment
Ink - VersaMark; VersaColor Silver; VersaFine Onyx Black
Papers - Homemade
Colouring - Derwent Colour pencils; Sansodor; Inscribe Pastels
Equipment - Seam ripper; Cuttlebug; Cuttlebug snowflake emboss and die
Other - Foam pads; silicon glue; Stipple brush; Stickles Glitter Glue; Sliver Gel pen

New Home Cards

For some reason I really like making new home cards. I don't know why but I just do.

Forgive me for the rubbish photograph but the front of the card is meant to look like the view from inside the house. Inside the card, and you could see it through the 'window' if it wasn't for the light glare, there is a sentiment written in the same paper as the 'wallpaper'.

Materials:
Paper - DCWV Glamour
Other - Ribbon; Cocktail sticks; black brush pen; glitter glue; black, White card

Candy

Emma on News, Gossip and Giggles has some Papermania goodies up for grabs, the lucky girl is a brand manager for Papermania and X-cut AND she is expecting :)

More Christmas Cards

Another Christmas card, this one is for the Basic Grey challenge blog which this week is all about the Scallops. All the scallops have been hand scalloped (is that a verb? I scallop, you scallop, he scallops, we all scallop) using a circle template, scissors and craft knife and can be found on the long sides of the patterned paper, the circle with the poinsettia mounted upon it and then the bottom of the card itself. Do you think that is enough scalloping for one card?

Materials:
Paper - Basic Grey Dasher
Inks - Distress Ink green
Others - Ribbons; Gems; Stickles Glitter glue
Equipment - Circle template; scissors; craft knife

Candy

Christmas has come early - Emma has some yummy candy on her blog at Elf - Creation.

A lovely brown 70's fabric is up for grabs on Gilly's fab sewing blog Silly Gilly.

Greeting Cards

I made this card for a Rak recently, I kinda like the simplicity of this with the splash of colour from the flower. Think this design is becoming a range :)

Materials:
Stamp - Autumn Leaves
Paper - K&Co
Ink - Distress ink Brick red

Help Publish a book

Been doing a bit of blog hopping and came across PennyDog Jewellery Blog which belongs to Kerry and has some beautiful resin jewellery on it which she sells.

Kerry is trying to get a book published but the publisher does not think that there is a market for learning about Resin Jewellery in the UK so she is trying to get a vote up and to help it along she has one of her beautiful Ice rings as candy to a lucky commenter.

Well I don't know about you but I love crafting books and love to learn new skills so go add your name here and hopefully we will see this book soon.

Candy

Lovely Candy over at Marlene's lovely blog to celebrate a Special birthday coming up. Thanks Marlene for sharing the happiness :)

Twinkle Twinkle Little Robin

I woke up yesterday in a real Christmassy mood. We complain that Christmas starts earlier and earlier every year but really my own brain was in Christmas mode and it is only early October, I ask you.

We Love Candy

There is some lovely candy up for grabs on these lovely Ladies blogs. Thank you all for giving us the opportunity at the yummy candy.

Tarag on Inking on the Edge is celebrating 5,000 hits and wants to know what your five fav things are....

Lim from the Voices in My Head is just offering candy coz she wants to.

Jenny on Made On The Farm has a 10, 000 hits to celebrate.

Tilda Challenge

Here is one for this week's Tilda and Co. challenge which has a sketch for us all to have a go at. I've used a complete mix of papers here and the ribbon with buckle is from the Oh La La kit by Designs by Krista.

I wanted some dimension and texture in this one so the underlying oval is scrunched up and inked. The Papermania exquisite paper has been glitter glued to highlight the flourishes and then attached to the background with double sided tape in the centre rather than the edges so that they can lift away from the purple background. Each layer has been edged with ink and then silicon glued to just lift it a little.

Materials:
Stamp - Tilda from Magnolia; Clear stamps
Ink - Versafine Black; Distress ink Walnut stain, tattered rose, tea.
Papers - Papermania Exquisite; K and Co Life's Journey; Dark purple is from an unknown supplier
Colouring - Derwent colour pencils; Twinkies H2Os
Ribbon - Designs by Krista
Other - Stickles Glitter glue

Back to Challenges

Here is my first challenge for a while. It is for the BasicGrey Challenge which has a fab sketch this week. I've recently discovered needle felting so was desperate to try it out for some card embellishments. The free bobbles are needle felted wool onto brads and then I made some mini-bobbles needle felted directly onto the ribbon. What fun. I think I'm going to like this craft.

Materials:
Paper - Basic Grey Mellow
Ink - Distress ink Walnut stain
Other - Red wool tops; Felting needle; Ribbon; Lace; Brads
