A Plum Twist Of A Make!

Thanks everyone who took the time to watch my first Create and Craft shows for Creative Expressions on Friday and even more thanks to everyone who then dropped me a note too via here on my blog, Facebook or Twitter, so very sweet of you all and hugely appreciated!

I thought I would share one of my makes from the shows, it is an off the page altered wooden frame, with a bit of a vintage feel.

The heart is card embossed in the Couture Creations Intrinsic embossing folder and sprayed with the Plum Twist Cosmic Shimmer Mister and I've also added the gorgeous Creative Expressions Vintage key and leaf metal embellishments, love these, the big keys are flat-backed making it even easier to stick in place and the leaves are bendable.

Oh and the really useful screw top brads too. The background to the heart was all done with Ranger Archival and Distress inks and the Creative Expressions Texture plate stamps (another firm fave!).

For the wooden frame I used the That Special Touch Key Mask with Plum Twist Cosmic Shimmer mister and added some extra texture by spraying some of the Creative Expressions crochet ribbon and pressing it onto the frame.

The product are all still up on the Create and Craft website as well if you are looking for them.

Thanks for popping in and catch you later.

Create & Craft You Say?

As some of you know I had my first TV appearance on the shopping channel Create and Craft last year and it was as much a surprise to me as it was to you guys! When I first started on this creative journey I had no idea in which direction it would take me and I never thought I would get the opportunity to demo let alone to demo on telly!

Kuretake asked me if I would like to try out for a guest presenter spot and I thought, what the heck - I'll give it a go! What have I got to lose - well apart from making a complete noodle of myself in front of folks - but hey what's new there? I'm often making a noodle of
myself in public!

I made the trip up to Peterborough for a screen test with no idea what to expect and managed to pass the screen test, much to my surprise! I wouldn't say that I sailed through it as I was really, really nervous but the wonderful Dee Paramour had been coaching me before hand which helped put my mind at ease and with the benefit of her advice I managed
to get through.

Then the day of the first show suddenly appeared and I was still in a bit of a state of shock that this was all going ahead, so I actually found myself quite relaxed about the whole thing. I was expecting to be a neurotic mess waiting for my bunny in the headlights moment as I stood in front of the camera bumbling incoherently but that never happened.

I turned up the required couple of hours before the show and was soon setting up for my demos and going through the products with the production team and the presenter. My presenter for the show was Dave Bradford and he was so calm, professional and lovely that again I just felt 'yeah, this is ok, I can do this'! All the production team were great, very friendly and patient with me and as I set up for my show I could see the show currently airing across the studio and that also made it easier as I could see how it all worked.

Next thing I knew it was SHOWTIME and I was being introduced by Dave and cameras were rolling. YIKES! Brain keep working - find words - speak! Yay! There were words coming out of my mouth and my hands were steady - phew! Well would you believe it? I was chatting away talking about the products, demoing and having a whale of a time. Totally surprised myself! But there aren't really that many people in the studio and you kind of forget the cameras are on you and that there might be people watching!

And there were people watching! I had some lovely emails, thank you everyone who took the time to send in emails, it was wonderful to hear from you. I spotted some from fellow bloggy friends too - Shirley and Maxine sent me lovely emails and it was their first time emailing in, so a first for us all. I was tickled pink, you guys just made my day! You really did! Thank you

I managed to demo a card in full and the one I made on the show was given away at the end, I did keep it simple as you can see but I really didn't know how the demo would go and I didn't want to trip myself up on my first show by over complicating it! I was thinking on my feet for the other demos as the production team asked me to show particular things, but I had prepared for some different things just in case and I'm glad I did.

As I made my way home after the show I told David, my ever patient partner, that I wouldn't watch the show until the weekend (we had recorded it). Yeah, right! I watched it as soon as I had a cup of tea in my hand and I was sat on the sofa - was that me? Did I just do that?

For about a month afterwards I was telling everyone I met about the experience - whether they wanted to hear it or not! I was still amazed that I had done it. I've calmed down a little bit now but just wait - I have another show coming up...

Yep, Creative Expressions has given me the opportunity to represent them on a show next Friday and I can't wait. I'm just designing the makes and demos at the moment, maybe, if I have time
I'll sneak you some peeks...

So my next Create and Craft show is:
(remember that times can still change)

15th February 11am and 4pm

and can be seen on:
Freeview 36 | Freesat 813 | Sky 671 | Internet

Fingers crossed the nerves don't kick in this time!

Flying By With A Work In Progress And Demo News

Just a bit of a fly by from me today, I'm in the middle of some last minute sample making for my demo this Saturday at Stamp Addicts in Bedford.

Here is a little sneaky peek at one of the samples...

You guessed it I'm doing a Basically Bare Demo for Kuretake this week.  He is one of the felt Owls from the Stackabellies Owls kit and I've done a bit of stitchery on him.

Right, well I better get on. Hope to see you between 10am-4pm at Stamp Addicts. I won't be the only person demoing, it is a free demoing event so should be great fun!

Home Tweet Home And Some More Demo News

Before I tell you about this week's Demo how do you fancy a little altered canvas? It is a little sample I made for Kuretake recently and I've been meaning to blog it for a while now.

If you saw the Create and Craft show on the 23rd March you would have seen a tiny peek of it as they showed the ZIG Painty Markers and Basically Bare Stackabellies Birds and Basically Bare Blossom and Leaves also available over at the Kuretake shop

I also used some Washi tape and gesso with a little bit of stamping for this make.

And the leaves were coloured with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens.

The little chipboard bird was covered with a book page collage before adding colour with the Clay coloured ZIG Painty marker.

Home Tweet Home!

Ok so Demo time again on Saturday (21st April). This time I will be in the Orpington Hobbycraft from 10am to 4pm. See you there!

(This was my demo table from Staines last week.)

Have a glorious Thursday.

Catching Up...

Hey Boys and Girls, how are you all doing? Having some creative fun?

It has been busy here in Kimberley Towers, as you can tell from the slight dip in posting on the blog - D'oh! Blog Posting Fail!

So here is a catch up.

As you know I did my second Hobbycraft demo for Kuretake in Greenford last week.

My next Demo is this Saturday, 14th April, in the Staines Hobbycraft, 10am to 4pm - See you there! BTW have you been checking out the demo page on the Kuretake blog to see if there is a demo in your area?

The Easter break seemed to just fly by! We took advantage of the fact that the whole of London seems to have gone away for Easter and went out and about to take in some sights.

We had a little trip to the Saatchi Gallery to take in some contemporary art, which is always worth a look.

But I'm also managing to get a bit of art done myself, which makes a change! Here is a little peak at a work in progress...

We shall see what it turns into! And yep that is the washing machine and the kettle, I'm in the 'painting section' of my studio, yes you guessed it - the kitchen!

Hope you have all been having fun too.

Catch you later you creative souls.
Kim

ps. the kraft book is attracting some attention! It is a recent find on the sales table of a Paperchase if you are interested!

Lots Of Excitement!

Ok so you might have noticed from the lack of blogging and commenting that I've been a teensy bit busy recently. But I've cleared off some of my commissions; cards and makes have been posted and before starting on some new commissions I'm trying to get some planning in so that my blog doesn't look so abandoned when I get really busy!

I'm very excited as I also have some new work to plan for. I will be starting on a new branch to my creative journey, one I can't wait to get my inky fingers into, I'm doing some demos for Kuretake at various Hobbycraft Stores in and around London.

I've put a list up in my sidebar and I would be tickled pink if any of my blogging buddies are around and want to come and say hello!

My first demo will be in the Croydon Hobbycraft 10am-4pm 31st March 2012.

So mark the date in your calendar and see you there!

Happy creating!
